“Aphrodite trail”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

Fabulous views combined with challenging walking path, (by mistake did the trail in reverse direction adding to the difficulty) Nice touch provided by having explanations of regional flora along the way as well as benches set up for breaks along the way. Only drawback was trail markings which now and then were vague. Solution is to use google maps walking guide which clearly gives the trail. Also there is no potable water so bring water! Start is at the entrance to Aphrodite springs down the road to the right of the gate. The trail is marked in red . The road that the trail starts from, if you continue along it as was recommended by other reviews is an easy hike suitable for all ages, where as the red trail or Aphrodite trail is better saved for those with healthy knees and hips.

“Relaxed route”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

Excellent walk. Instead of following the Adonis or the Aphrodite trail we decided to follow the unpaved road that tracks the coast. Very good views paired with only moderate exercise. Choose the length of your trip by simply turning back halfway!

“Stunning!”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

This is a wonderful walk with amazing views. Be sure to set off really early because it might be near to impossible to achieve in the heat.

“Hot, Hot, Hot”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

Walked the trail in late June. We set out reasonably early (around 08.00) and seemed to be the only people out at that time in the morning. Due to the amount of climbing, the walk seems further than the quoted 7.5Km and certainly takes most of the recommended 3 hours to walk it for the casual walker.

Views are, in places, spectacular and we saw a fair amount of wildlife - mostly lizards, birds and goats. The path was pretty well signposted and we had little trouble following it, although at one point while descending a rough, rocky track, started to get second thoughts that we might have taken a wrong turn. About 2/3 of the way round the walk, you arrive at an area where quad bikes clearly have access. I am in no way a conservationist and have quad biked myself on other holidays, but even I was disappointed by the damage they seem to create.

The last bit of the walk is along the road back to the car park, be aware that some of the driving is variable, so take care on this particular stretch. Definitely felt this was a worthwhile activity to do, but very glad to have started as early as we did. By 10.00 at this time of year, the sun was already very fierce.

“Aphrodite nature trail”

Lovely, but do not attempt it after noon & before 3pm during hot days. The Bath area was smashing & wonderfully cool.
