“a nice relaxing stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

stayed at the capital coast 27 oct to 3 nov 2012 after being transferred there from original hotel closing for winter.stayed in a standard room, double bed lots of storage space flat screen tv fridge ironing board and iron and balcony.room 1112 looks over the balcony of the restaurant but also has a pool and sea view.we stayed half board.there was eneugh choice for both breakfast and evening meal.there was something different every night, the carvery was excellent, and lots of choice.there are lots of sunbeds, mostly on the grass area overlooking the sea. There isnt really a good beach area, the best beach being in Coral Bay.The bus stop just outside the hotel,1euro ot 3 euros for a day pass and run every 10/15 mins. There isnt any entertainment at the hotel but there are quite a few bars close by.If you have a late return flight there are changing rooms by the indoor pool with showers.Fresh towels are available from the spa .Drinks at the hotel are reasonable, apint of lagar 3.65 euros, happy hour 6-7 pm every night. The seating area outside on the balcony is very relaxing especially watching the sun going down and the beautiful sunsets.Reception staff were helpful if you needed any information. We would certainly stop there again, although a little out of the way.

Just had a weeks stay at the capital coast. We stayed in a studio suite that had no balcony but sea view window. It also had an oven and large fridge freezer which was handy even though we were half board. The room was cleaned every day with fresh towels and the staff were always polite. The hotel is around a 45 min walk along a beautiful coast, however you can catch a bus from opposite the hotel for just 1€ one way or 3€ for all day on all the buses.

The bus from the airport is just an all day ticket 3€, and around 25 mins on the bus.

The food was nice everyday day, with different buffet meals. Personally wish their was more Cypriot food, as I like to try cultural foods, but their was always something I could eat.

The pool was freezing!! Apparently they don't turn it on until later on in the year, and the sea was actually warmer!

There is a lidl across the road for anyone wanting cheap snacks or self catering. We had a very pleasant stay and the weather was beautiful! Would definitely stay again!

Just returned from a week here , a family including 2 teenage girls . had a 2 bed superior room which was brilliant for space . but had a view of the bins and no sun alday on the balcony .

On arrival it was 9.50 pm , we was not delayed , we asked reception on booking in if we had missed evening meal which she replied oh yes it finished at 9.30 pm sorry , we walked out of the hotel and went a lovely indian restaraunt facing who had officially closed but made us some food .In theory the hotel now owed us a meal as we had paid for 7 days half board , so on the friday before we was due to leave we went to reception to ask them if we was able to get a lunch on our departure day , she said no because it was our fault that we arrived 25 minutes after the restaraunt had closed and not hers !! , We advised her that as our plane and taxi drop off was on time , the hotel new what time our arrival would be ! , She then said well no you cannot have a lunch , i advised her that i would be speaking to our rep as we felt they owed us and we had paid for meal in our original booking , she said she would log it and let us know within the hour what the outcome was, we never heard anything so the next day i went and asked again and a different receptionist gave me a voucher for a lunch . How many people have they got away with not giving them that meal that we have paid for ? The staff are not friendly , a smile or morning would be appreciated, the guy that sorts the sun loungers out is very rude , he tuts when he cannot put your sun lounger straight because you are still sunbathing . they should remember they need us more than we need them !!! the hotel is very quite and has no atmosphere . there is no entertainment in the hotel , there was sign one night sayin Quiz . no thank you .

Also this week there was a golf tournamount on and full of very rude guests who thought they were someone special and would rudely push in front of you at breakfast and evening meal . when we arrived we asked if we could pay and move rooms to a better view , she said the hotel was full. Well now we know its was full of the golfers and they had been allocated the rooms with the hot tubs and sea views !!

We stayed half board, the breakfast was fine but the evening meal was extremely boring, a plate of food could not be stringed together so you ended up with bits of everything on your plate. althougth i must say , we had read reviews about the restaraunt manager being very rude but we found him friendly towards us as was the other waiting on staff . Evening meal is served at 7 pm till 9.30 pm . to late we thought and families with little children expressed they thought it was to late to .

The shop inside the hotel is expensive and the women is very very rude . she asked me if i wanted a 1 Euro off spa voucher because i had spent over 3 euro but as the treatments were so expensive you would need to spend a lot of money in that shop so i replied no , a girl behind me asked if she could have my voucher , i said yes thats fine but the shop assistant bluntly said no , so i said well i have the voucher then but because she new i was going to give it away she said the only way you can have this voucher now is if i delivery to your room !!! unbelievable penny pinching rubbish!!

NOW THE BAD bit that is the reason we wouldnt visit this hotel again. we had a item of clothing go missing from our room, my daughter wore it on the tuesday daytime and then on the wednesday night she asked me if i had moved it from her room . on the thursday morning we tipped the suite upside down and was horrified and saddened that it had gone , i immediatley reported it to the reception who looked blank , she said she would log it and to come back the folllowing day . i did that and was told oh no its hasnt been found , i then said please advise the manager of this , she went in the back and a young male came out , i advised him and he said , well if she has wore it then maybe it had blown over the balcony !! i shook my head and said this was definatly not possible because she had no reason to put it on the balcony . he just shook his head from side to side and shrugged his shoulders .

The location is way out and you need a car or you need to go on the bus, big problem , we went to get the bus one day and 3 buses later we finally got on , they are packed and therfore the driver just drives past you . Also pricey for a famly of 4 , 12 euro a day it cost us !

One thing we did like was lidl right facing , we stocked our fridge with pop and water

We also went to use the juccuzi down stairs , the water was murky and no way would we get in. we did use the gym shower facilities though as we had checked out but the shower leaks and absolutley drowns the floor and then it is extremely slippey.

Room Tip: the rooms facing the bins have no sun at all and keep your eye on your clothes!!

i think this was the biggest resort i stayed in (except a robinson club 15 y ago) so a bit of a change for me. but nothing serious to complaint really.

rooms - huge, we had a 2 room suite looking at the the pool(s) and sea. balcony was accessable from both rooms, and we had a bathroom incl shower per person. kitchen was better equipped than many kitchens i know, including mixer, blenders , microwave etc... the switches etc were a bit complex ... for me at least

fron the bar as well as most rooms you have a fantastic dawn - sundowners at the bar are fairly priced.

hotel restaurant - we had breakfast only, ( very british, with baked beans, bangers and all the unhealthy yet delicious things which i enjoy every now and then) - didn t try dinner as i dislike buffets.

staff pretty heterogene - from very friendly and helpful till pretty awful - but luckily the latter being in the minority

gym was ok, bit badly organised qua opening hours. no drinks or towels in the gym. they offer some light entertainment from aerobic to bingo...

you need a car unless you love public transportation to reach down town paphos. in the hotel after down all you have to enjoy is your room size and partner :) . parking for free.

wlan only in the lobby area.

so - recommendable if you like resortstyle hotels - price value in that sense very good.

Room Tip: sea view ( even lateral) i better if you ask for pool view - the other side faces the parkings.

This was our first holiday in Cyprus and Paphos and our first stay at the Capital Coast hotel. We stayed in a studio which didn't have a balcony but did have a small kitchen facility which was really handy for snacks and keeping drinks cold. The hotel itself is a bit of a maze, and not the easiest to get around, but the facilities are good. There is a small gym, spa and wifi which was great. We paid for breakfast, there was a good selection of things to choose from although if you are staying for a longer than a week might get slightly repetitive. A chef makes eggs to order which is a nice touch. But I have to say that the guys that serve breakfast are superb and do a fantastic job seeing to guests every need and always a smile first thing in the morning. As others have said, the hotel is well located for the harbour and Coral Bay and the grounds are lovely for sunbathing. My only slight negative comment would be that the hotel would benefit from general maintenance and upkeep, you can see various things that have not been repaired and it would be nice to see it kept in good condition.

"Haven't you got a home to go to!" This was the greeting we got from Gerhard the Pool Bar Barman as we checked in. It was accompanied by a broad grin and a firm handshake.

We love the layout of the hotel. A combination of suites or simple hotel rooms. We have stayed in Suite 2021 a couple of times and it is a home from home.

Well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, microwave and even a blender. The lounge and bedroom is spacious and airy and spotlessly clean. There are two balconies, one with a Jaccuzi and both with great views of the sea.

The bathroom is about the only disappointment. This was originally a shower room with a basin, however, when the hotel rooms were formed from the larger suites a toilet was squeezed in and this makes the room quite cosy. Not an easy fit for two persons. It is also a little gloomy as the light levels are low. If the owners could add a light or uprate the bulbs this would help.

The hotel was fully booked while we stayed but it never seemed crowded. There was always loungers available around the pool or overlooking the sea. There is always a stool at one of the bars or a table if you prefer.

The only exception is breakfast. The breakfast offering is fantastic with a selection of hot and cold dishes. However, a large number of guests appear to treat this as their only meal of the day. As a consequence it is crowded and there are the occasional clashes of culture. We Brits will queue for toast and coffee; some East Europeans obviously are not familiar with this concept. So when we stay now we book 'Room only' and rely either on Lidl (Across the road) or one of a number of restaurants/cafes/bars in Paphos to provide meals.

I must comment on the staff at this hotel. I did not come across a single member of staff who was not helpful, cheerful and polite. The bar staff, who we had the most contact with (That isn't as bad as it sounds by the way) are great. Similarly the reception and cleaning staff. We had a couple of minor issues with the room. These were reported and dealt with immediately to our complete satisfaction.

So, will we be returning to the Capital Coast? Yes, probably in March/April next year (Unless the lottery cooperates in which case it will be sooner).

Room Tip: We like 2011 or 2021, great views of the sea and both have two balconies.
