“Vast improvement”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

Been twice in the last 5 years and its got way much better.

the layout and the range of animals. So much more than the original birds and a bit of wildlife.

Overall well worth the money and a great experience to see such animals who seem overal well looked after.

As for the comment on poor feeding of the tigers/lions etc. we saw then get feed!!! And no problems there. If you thought i was hot go earlier or alter as we did.

“An enjoyable couple of hours”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

Its about 15k from Paphos but you can organise a free pick up from your Hotel. Its well worth a visit as there are lots of animal attractions to see, especially if you are a bird lover. Also a great parrot show.
Be aware its very hot in the summer months but there are cafes and a restaurant. Glad we made the effort to visit.

“Why all the hate ?”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

I was very disturbed by all the negative reviews here, however my wife insisted that we go anyway, and i'm very glad that she did. We and our two kids (3 and 6) had a total blast at the Zoo. Since there was so many negative reviews, let me start with some downside of this place

1) Location. If you don't have a car, then you probably shouldn't go there, especially with kids. Like others have wrote, it is pretty remote (~15 km from Pafos), located uphill in the middle of banana plantation. Just don't go there on foot, unless you are in perfect form and can walk uphill in a hot sun. However, they promise free transfers from/to local hotels, but i don't know the details, since we got there in a car.

2) Price. No arguing here - €15.50 adults and €8.50 kids (2-12) is a bit expensive. However, as far as i understand this is the only zoo on Cyprus, and since this is primarily tourist only attraction i can understand this. Plus, an amazing parrot show is included in the price.

Overall, this is really nice, although a somewhat small zoo. Of course it isn't Berlin or Singapore zoo, but you can see they are working on expanding and bringing more animals. Their primary specialities remains in birds, which accounts for 3/4 of the species there. Parrot and owl show which runs three time a day is great for kids. My kids oohed and wowed entire duration of the show. Their favorite part was when big eagle owl flew right above their heads :)

My only disappointment was that the meerkats were not present due to some reconstruction.

Now, i cannot really agree with the rest of negatives, namely

1) Too hot. Hello, this is Cyprus, where average day temp is almost +30 C. Of course there will be hot, it's not the zoo's fault. Plus, there is enough benches located in the shade where you can sit and relax. And they don't forbid to bring your own drinks, so you don't have to pay outrageous price for bottled water.
2) Expensive restaurant. Really ? We had a full meal for 4 with drinks (no alcohol) and dessert for only €31. And they have gigantic portions, US style :) Based on my experience, only way to have this meal cheaper is to eat at some family run tavern in tiny village. Some German couple next to us paid only €18 for meal with two large beers. This is very good price for restaurant in attraction site. And once again - you can bring your own food and drinks, nobody is forcing you to dine at restaurant.

“overrated”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

To be honesit i thought Pfos Bird & Animal Park was overrated and highly priced, we managed to get round the whole place within few hours. There were a lot of parts being build for new animals being brought in next year (2012), However would be very enteraining for children seeing all the different animals.

You can feed a giraffe and have your photo taken, however you guessed it theres a cost.
