Having fallen in love with the Ascos after a weeks stay last July, we knew we had to come back for more, and this holiday certainly didn't let us down.

On arrival the hotel looked as smart and clean as ever, and we were attended to very quickly and efficiently by the reception staff.
Although one lift was out of order this posed little of a problem, as the other didn't leave you standing around for too long, and it encouraged us to get a little exercise by taking the stairs, you've got to burn those cocktails off some how!.

We were given a room at the front of the hotel, which was fully air conditioned and felt like heaven after a long hot day at the pool!, the room was a good size with a nice bathroom and was kept very clean by the maids, who changed our towels every day! It also had a nice sized balcony with a table and chairs if you wanted to relax for an afternoon. Although there was building work opposite our room you heard hardly any noise, so it didn’t affect our stay.

The Pool area at the hotel is fantastic, plenty of sun beds and parasols which was important to us as we spend a lot of our time there, and the swimming pool itself is great and always kept clean and fresh, the gardens and grass area are very well maintained and give it a lovely setting.

Throughout the day the Thomas Cook entertainment team organised things like water volleyball, darts, pool and a quiz which anyone could participate in, but if it's not your thing then they didn’t bother you. They were also the evening entertainment for the majority of nights, which wasn’t up to last years standard and unfortunately looked a little amateurish at times, though they tried their best, but as the holiday was more about the company and conversation of friends it was pleasant enough. Although after two weeks the constant pleas to tick the excellent box did become annoying. The local acts they had in were very good, so it would be nice to see more of them.

The food, breakfast was a good selection including cereals, pastries, fruit (fresh & tinned), yoghurt, and your usual cooked breakfast. With fresh juice and hot drinks available.
At lunch there was a salad bar and a selection of cooked food, pasta, chips etc, which did get a little repetitive into the second week, but I usually only wanted something light so it was fine for that.
You have dinner in the main restaurant which consisted of a carvery, with a salad bar and a selection of cooked food such as pasta, fish, and chicken or beef dish, with chips, potatoes etc next to it, this was good food but like lunch got a bit too repetitive after a week, so it would be great if the hotel could add in a selection of more local dishes or something a little different. But I am certainly going to miss the banana ice cream!!

The staff at the hotel are excellent, they're all very polite and happy to speak to you, and work really hard, in particular Julia who was fantastic and always made us laugh! and Marina in the restaurant who is lovely and never seen without a smile!

Outside of the hotel it's just a couple of minutes walk on to the main street in Coral Bay where you'll find a selection of shops, bars and restaurants (the Coral King is really nice, though if you're having the meze make sure you're very hungry beforehand!) the beach is only 15 minutes walk from the hotel and looks really nice, there is also a bus stop running through the main street which will take you to Pafos for 80 cents.

We had an amazing holiday at the Ascos, and could easily have stayed there for another two weeks, I never thought I’d want to revisit the same hotel but there’s just something about it that makes us want to go back time again, so try it for yourself and see if you can’t find your own slice of heaven! and fingers crossed we’ll be going back pretty soon!

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at the Ascos. The hotel was beatifully clean (not a cockroach in sight). All the staff were helpful and could not do enough for you especially Julia. The entertainment team were excellent, they got to know everyone and were lots of fun, they gave their all in both daytime and evening entertainment.. Food was well cooked with a fair amount of variety and well above our expectations from having read other reviews. A real bonus was not having to save sunbeds and the peace and tranquility around the poolside, (no children). It was a holiday to remember and I would recommend it to anyone.

We stayed at the Ascos Coral Beach in Cyprus during mid June and went with an open mind of what to expect, mainly due to many reviews we had read.

The hotel is situated roughly 10 minutes (by foot) from Coral Bay town and has some of the nicest views you will see on this part of the island; being mainly sea-view and occasionally beach situated. The hotel itself is well presented, if not a little dated, and caters for just that little-bit-more than basic needs. The rooms are decent; the balconies are wide and well positioned for the views, the bathrooms are adequate and the room service is acceptable, though not quite commendable.

The food, unfortunately, was a bit repetitive but this, quite often, goes hand in hand with all-inclusive options. Catering for many-a-taste, the restaurant (for the first few nights) was a nice welcome to our stay, with friendly and inviting staff. But choice and expectation were both diminished afterward.

In respect to the entertainment team -- we had read many reviews for this year that seemed to be quite negative and dismissive. However, we got on quite well with a lot of the entertainment team. Where this may not be to everyone’s particular taste, the entertainment program is provided by Thomas cook and the team certainly tried their hardest under the programme they were given. True; they cater for the somewhat 20-40 aged adult, however, we felt that anyone could enjoy the multiple shows they strived to present.

All-in-all it was a pleasing stay that left little to desire. Everything that we needed was either already in the hotel (even down to an air-pump for lilos that can be brought from the self-contained shop) or a very short walk away. It was nice to venture further into Paphos, but most will find that other than McDonalds and Woolworth’s, this town centre offers very little more than what is already at your fingertips.

The overall holiday was good. The pool was fab and the weather was gorgeous. I found that the Manager who greets everyone in the Restaurant was just rude and everyone made a comment on the fact that he never smiles.
The entertainment was diabolical and it was that bad we had to go to another bar in Coral Bay after all theres only so much Bingo you can play. They would start playing bingo every night @ 9.30 and would finish playing it by about 10.00pm, by the time they had packed away the actual entertainment would start at 10.20 and finish at 11.00pm. Everyone got fed up of waiting and when it came on it was embarrasing. One of the girls was a great singer, so fair play.
All the drink that were all inclusive wasn't very strong and have definitley been watered down.
They also had a BBQ which you had to pay for. We are so glad we didn't go to it as 7 people out of the 11 left the BBQ. They said the food looked like it had been there all day and there was very little. Again, this should of been all inclusive.
Would not go back there again but had fun during the day.

We have just returned home from the Ascos Coral Beach (1st August 2007) and have to say it’s a Great Hotel in every way. We have been to lots of destinations worldwide, and always read the reviews on trip advisor before booking. The reviews we read on this Hotel were very mixed, and we were a little concerned about our choice, if you have been reading them and feel the same please don't be from our experience the Hotel was Excellent!

The only negative comment I need to make is the Air Conditioning although adequate in our room, could have been much better in the public areas of the Hotel,(even if one area had a "cool spot " this would have been good,as the temperature reached 44 degrees with very high humidity!

Arriving at the Hotel, the check in Staff on the Desk was very friendly and helpful very speedy check in, (always helpful and smiling when we had occasion to visit them through our holiday).
We had an excellent room; we felt the position of it was probably the best in the hotel (won't post the number on here because when We return it may be booked out through popularity).
The room was cleaned daily (not a Coach roach or any other insect or creature insight); the decor wasn't freshly done however it was on par with most holiday hotels of this rating (shouldn't compare a Mediterranean holiday hotel with a 4 Star London hotel or you will invariably be disappointed). Yes there is some building work going on at the side and to the front of the hotel however it in no way disturbed us or spoiled our holiday this area of Cyprus is growing and they are building some lovely Villas near the Hotel (not the hotels fault though is it?), request a sea view and there won't be an issue). The pool is brilliant and a good size which varies in depth from 1.2-2.4 Metres deep, plenty of sun beds & Parasols, people do put their towels out and reserve their favourite spots, however there are plenty to go round and the whole area is not overcrowded. And I have to say at this point that the Hotel being Adult only was a huge bonus for us, (Not having to be a guardian for other peoples children while they sit in the bar was something of absolute pleasure). So quiet while sunbathing. The Entertainment was ok, no complaints there, we were not expecting Robbie Williams or Kylie to pop in on this budget! The food in the Restaurant was good at all times nothing inedible Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner all fine, didn't feel a need to go out and eat, as there was a wide selection available, (even did you a lunch in a cool box if required when you went out for the day). Drinks were good, with fast service and an extremely courteous and efficient Bar man at the pool bar. Overall a great Holiday and good value for money.
