Now I have to hold my hands up and say, I'm not a great fan of 'all inclusive' holidays. The decision by a number of the major holiday chains to offer 'all inclusive' only holidays, nearly always means the demise and closure of all the family run smaller restaurants in the vicinity.
Guests, simply dont wander out of an evening to sample the local bars and restaurants when they can eat and drink without limits inside the grounds of their hotel.
This leads to economic disaster for whole families who are often forced to close their business down as a result!
There rant over....I joined my family at the Akti Beach for a week in late February and can only sing it's praises.
We checked in late on a Monday night and were personally escorted to our room which was a large apartment not too fat from the reception area.
It was very clean if the decor was a little dated and everything worked!
The next morning there was a massive choice for the buffet breakfast plus fresh fruit if you wanted it.
The staff always coped great with any number of guests and I saw nobody waiting any length of time for an available table.
The staff were always incredibly friendly and were bi-lingual with the mainly British and German guests.
They manage to lay on entertainment (if you want it) every night except Sunday when Dessy, the ever smiling hostess, has her day off.
The food was simply great, it was so well prepared given the numbers and tastes of the hundreds of guests.
The variety was incredible. I guess the biggest plus was the fact that the hotel wasn't too big? Everything was only 3/4 minutes walk from the pools and restaurants.
One little nag, if your driving your own car you may have difficulty finding the turnoff for the hotel as the signs are non existant, particularly at night.
Heading west along the coast road from Paphos, follow the brown tourist signs for the 'Tombs of the Kings'. Carry on past the Lidle supermarket on the right, and the hotel is a mile or so down a left turn, carry on down a rocky unfinished road making a further two left turns.
The hotel is surrounded by private houses and villas for sale.
Enjoy your stay
