Very little shade so take water and a hat. The mosaics are among the largest and best and most detailed I have ever seen. All are in situ. Quite astonishing. A must if you like art and history

If you go and see one place in Paphos, this should be it. The mosaics are AMAZING. The rest of the site is not quite as impressive, but the 4.50 entry fee is well worth it for the mosaics alone. It does get hot here - 2 tips:

the visitor centre showing a short film is air conditioned

there is a small hut with vending machines selling water next to the House of Dionysus which was a welcome relief!

Visited Paphos Archiology Park near the harbour 611 bus from the hotel or walk next to the Deal Bar by the Alexander the Great hotel and walk along the coastline for half an hour.
€5 each to get in from memory.
It's got a map with finds all numbered and you go into a building with a screen presentation explaining the site and the remarkable finds etc.
They mosaic floors that have survived are remarkable.
Some building a had signs and information and others didn't in the heat of the day the map stopped making sense.
If only they put numbers on boards next to the archiology to match the map it would be easier to navigate.
Overall a lot of interesting history, a good morning out.
Don't get sunburnt it's very open and there is little places to go to take shelter.
Staff again a bit disinterested and no guides etc.

Over the years, this headland by the harbourside has gradually been excavated and is still turning up treasures, including most impressively mosaics. It is quite a big site and can be quite exposed, so carry water with you. There is a drinks station, but machines were not working at the time we arrived. The adjacent building holds the real treasures with lots of mosaics. Plenty to see around as you walk towards the lighthouse is the amphitheatre, and a bit further the castle. Costs less than 5 euros so well worth a look.
