“Lovely stay at Kissos & Yes, it is child freindly!”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

Would just like to say we had a lovely 2 week holiday at Kissos Hotel. We booked Superior rooms which were great, clean & spacious. Yes, you pay more for these rooms but you get what you pay for - it's called upgrading. Sure the main block rooms were probably fine but we picked the Superior through Thomson. The pool outside our apartments was one of the best we've ever used, really safe, clean & warm! We stayed half board, the breakfasts were wonderful, lots of variation.. Fruit, cooked breakfasts, toast, cereals, breads, pancakes, cake etc - what more would you want? Evening meals again very good with a really good choice. Always salads, rices, pasta plus carvery available. We were spoilt! Very good for 3 star. We were even able to swap our evening meal over to lunch if we preferred which was helpful some days. The prices at the bar were quite expensive so anyone on the 'All inclusive' package probably benefited from that but in general we found Cyprus maybe more expensive than say the Greek Islands.
Think it's such a shame to read the negative reviews especially the one dated 17th August stating "Not child friendly" I think maybe they stayed at a different hotel & got mixed up?!
We booked early in the year & never once got the impression there was a childrens club? There were 2 wonderful outdoor pools, a little park, giant chess, small games room, mini golf & tennis... Plenty for children to do (mine were happy just in the pool all day!)
Mark did a great job at involving the children in pool activities every morning & afternoon without being to over the top. If you expect full time 'childrens clubs' & 'animation teams' then book an appropriate hotel, don't blame this one!
The reception staff were lovely, so were the bar staff though maybe the waitresses could learn to smile a bit more. Having said that, they all worked very hard.
We had a very relaxing break & I would definitely return so Thank you Kissos!

Room Tip: Probably worth booking Superior rooms, more space & better positioned if with children.

Just back from 7days at the Kissos Hotel in Paphos.
Friendly staff- even the catering staff (despite some of the other reviews on here).
The rooms were spacious and were cleaned daily. Perhaps some of the towels could have been replaced as they were looking quite tired. Also to use the fridge and safe was an extra 5EUR a day which seemed steep.
Pools were great- we preferred the lagoon one. Never much of a problem getting a sunbed as we were there either early morning or late afternoon (the rest of the time we were at the beaches). Convienient locations and there's a wonderful walk along the seafront to the harbour which can be done even late at night.
Meals were fine- breakfast was the weakest meal, the quality wasn't so good. Lots of variety for the evening meal including themed nights (we were there on the Cypriot night which was great).
The all-inclusive started daily at 11am- I'm not sure on the reasoning behind this- it seemed a bit of a strange rule.
All in all this is good hotel and I would recommend it.

Have just returned from a great holiday at the Kissos Hotel Paphos. Hotel is rated as 3 star but should be 4. Everywhere is spotlessly clean, we upgraded our room so we had fridge and safe for free otherwise thats extra. The food was very good always lots to choose from, resturant staff excellent. Cant see why you would go b and b or half board as it is quite pricey for drinks but not outragous. The upgraded Lagoon rooms are big and airy, air con good. Got caught out didnt take beach towels couldnt remember reading anywhere that they were not supplied no hassle went over the road and brought two. I thought for a small hotel the evening entertainment was good have seen lots lots worse in bigger hotels. All staff were very nice and helpful. The downside was the all inclusive drinks finished at 11pm and when you leave its 12am so if you have a late flight and you missed the evening meal on arrival ask for a voucher for a meal and drink.
Everywhere around the complex was very clean and I liked the fact you could walk around the pool and into the pool side loos safely there was green matting which if you have children is a good safety measure.

Mark the entertainment guy was really good with the children and was an all rounder.
Lauren the Thomsons rep was in the hotel most days and did a good welcome meeting.
The hotel is brilliantly situated you can get a bus into Coral Bay Beach for 3 euros return and the same to the harbour. We spent most of our time onCoral Beach as the one near hotel wasnt very nice. Forgot to say if you want tea making facilities thats extra so take a travel kettle.
Be aware there are no lifts for the Lagtoon rooms or porters to take your luggage which is a bit of a pain if you have had long day gettingthere. There are lifts to the standard rooms.

Room Tip: Choose a Lagoon room they are bigger dosent matter where you are all central but would say there are...

The hotel is centrally located , ideal for exploring Paphos. Bed & breakfast was exactly what we wanted with plenty of selection of food at breakfast. Lovely clean well presented hotel. Nice pools that are cleaned every day along with the grounds. Staff work very hard to keep it looking nice & clean. All the staff are really polite & ready to help.
The only criticism I would say is that people put towels on the sunbeds very early in the morning & sometimes very late t night. This then means there are not many beds left for other people who may want a bed & are not selfish enough to claim one. This is despite the hotel stating that towels re not aloud to be saved by towels
Would recommend the hotel to anyone

Kissos FIRST THE GOOD - The hotel itself is smart enough, clean and well looked after as are the pools. The pool side activities are run by the 'animation' girl who is very good, works long hours with only a Sunday off but seems to enjoy what she does. The receptionists are 1st class helpful and friendly.
Not connected to the hotel, but worthy of a mention. The best value for money by a mile is the quad bike safari 'Thunder Motorsport' run by Marios and Spirios, which is only 5 minutes walk from the hotel. They took a 16 strong group of us up into the mountains to the adonis waterfall, to the sea caves, along the beaches and the dunes ( WEAR OLD CLOTHES & ASK FOR GOGGLES). It was only supposed to be a 4 hour trip but because we all ( guides included) were having a good time it lasted 5hrs. Marios and Spirios cared about us made sure of our safety at all times but also had a laugh. All for €25 per person. Might seem expensive but honestly its worth every penny. So good all 16 of us went for a second outing to a different part of the island.
NOW THE BAD - We went all inclusive but its not as it should be, it was at set times only. Availability was only from 11am until 11pm
The drinks - Local drinks are free but we might as well have been drinking fruit juice as the alcohol has no effect at all. Other named drinks are charged and are more expensive than outside the hotel. No cocktails allowed during evening meals. Even though the temperature was in the low to mid 30s, only small plastic cups (and only one drink per person at a time). were allowed. So when you got very thirsty due to the heat, we had to go to the bar get a drink then go back usually within minutes and do the same again. No pints allowed until evening meal times. Very confusing and very annoying.
The food - Is edible, just. Its a self service system, With the same items repeated or having slight variations every other day and could do with some fresh ideas. The restaurant is a bit dated and felt more like a works canteen. The waiters n waitresses are a mixed bunch of one friendly, but most, obviously false friendly, abrupt and jobs worth's.
In general - The hotel seemed aimed towards the elderly more than any other age group and at times seemed like the set of Cocoon. This could have been down to the time we went as a few younger families started arriving the second week. The night time entertainment seemed also to be aimed at the elderly. The house martins nesting under the balconies by the pool keep the insects down but leave their mess on the floor, although the ants clean most of it up, so be aware. Biggest niggle is no FREE wi-fi because in a hotel with very little going on it would be nice to be able to keep in contact or up to date with the outside world..
By the 7th day of an 11 day holiday we were ready for home. Not advisable for all inclusive and we would not stay here again.

Just returned from 2weeks at Kissos hotel. Hotel has good location within easy walking distance of bars. Make a point of visiting ONeills Irish Bar just opposite the hotel and make sure you see The Blues Brothers, fantastic, even if they did get me up on stage !!! The entertainment at ONeills is very good and the waitress Nina very chatty and pleasant and always made sure we had a drink. Hotel was very clean we had a twin room and the maid attended the room every day. Food was very acceptable, plenty of choice, if perhaps repetetive the second week. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. I did not think enough sunbeds were available around the pool to cater for everyone, so I made sure my towel was on a sunbed before 7.00am each day.
I would return to this hotel at some point in the future.

Room Tip: our twin room was facing the car park - quiet

First of all I would like to thank the reception staff a the young lady who organised the flowers ,cake ,wine ,and fruit for my wife's birthday first class,
Unfortunately that's where the good points end,we didn't arrive while 1130 at night ,we were greeted by a very miserable young man on reception who I think wanted to be somewhere else, the room is not the room you see in the brochures, you have to pay to upgrade for those,it was adequate I suppose bit small and dated, you have to pay 30 euros for the safe and fridge, and if you want tea and coffee making facility's you to pay 5 euros a day ,a first for us ,.
Breakfast ,plenty of cold meats ,cheeses,breads,beans,streaky bacon,hot dogs,fried onions,fried potatoes,fried eggs,scrambled ,boiled,not red hot but warm,
Pools were good ,always got sunbeds, cleaned everyday by the pool guy who w e watched puncture a Lilo ,couldn't understand why,
Lunch was always outside ,but undercover with fans ,selection was a bit poor, but desserts were the worst, you couldn't get them yourselves the waiters gave you a selcetion of three, then two seconds to make your mind up ,always made us laugh tho,
Dinner was buffet ,a good selection ,always a roast on ,and theme nights ,but as a all inclusive guest we could only have one drink and only a small one ,I did ask for a large beer one night only to be told they don't do large, but if you went to the pool bar outside you get a pint and then take it inside with you ,couldn't understand that one ,
The entertainment consisted of one young guy called mark ,who to be honest did a really good job, tried to please everyone and worked hard at it,
The only bar that was open was the pool bar ,the lounge bar was always shut ,just a quick congrats to Georgina who ran the pool bar and was a credit to the hotel she never stopped and always had a smile, but 99% of the other staff couldn't be bothered,on our last day we have to check out at 12 so we went to get a late check out room ,we were told we could ave it whie 430,and not the usual 6 ,but still had to pay 30 euro, having booked and paid for all inlusive for 7 days we ended up getting 6 1/2 days not very good value ,Paphos is really nice with some really great resurants and bars with really friendly staff,we will return but unfortunately not to the kissos,
