Ok, we arrived at Paphos airport where our pre-arranged taxi driver took us to the Damon, nice guy but drove like a lunatic! I was scared for my life - they overtake on corners and drive very close to peoples bumpers - hooting at everyone in their way!
Arrived at the hotel about 10pm and hotel was ok, friendly reception staff, rooms were average but the bathrooms were quite skanky (needed a good scrub), anyway, we went to Greeks Aphrodites to have dinner (not that great hence we never went back). Pool was fine, we spent most of our time around it and we wouldnt have if there was any complaints.
I didnt take a hairdryer with me as it states to have them there, however they have 2/3 which you have to use and take back straight away (and of course some people did not take theirs back) so there was a few nights I had to go out with wet hair which I wasnt too pleased about because I like to feel nice when I go out (as Im sure every girl does) - so take your own hairdryer!
Breakfast was until 10am which consisted of Orange juice (which appeared to have been watered down so not that nice), cereals, yoghurt, cheese, bread, tea coffee etc, bacon, egg, beans and sausage. The bar snacks were amazing (in my eyes) although basic (burger and chips, omelette, pitta bread) the food looked fresh and tasted lovely (I recommend the Pork Pitta!!) and cheap too!
One night we got back to our room (512) to find 2 cockroaches YUK! (and they FLY!) which we killed and to our own dismay left them until the morning to clean (as we had a late night and a few bevvies and thought it would be ok) when we woke in the morning there was HUNDREDS of ants everywhere; now even though this was our fault they still allowed us to change rooms. We changed to 323 but the air con cooler (for the whole building) was above our room which goes off every 20 mins so I didnt get any sleep due to the loud 'hairdryer' sound! Moved again to 401 (poolside view) however when upstairs flushed their toilet, it followed a loud 'groaning' noise which also kept you awake, we didnt complain after this as felt the staff were extremely helpful and had done all they can to make our stay a pleasent one and we just wanted to get on with our holiday.
The hotel seems to have some basic entertainment on a Thursday, Bingo, Quiz etc and a BBQ night but we didnt stay around for that.
We never had any concerns about hearing road noise or smells anywhere and the location was great (for us) we are a couple of 28 yrs old so we had the benefit of either walking to the harbour (about 30m mins walk) or staying on the Tomb of the Kings Road.
Overall our stay was ok but I was expecting a lot more having read all the previous reviews and comments on how 'amazing' it was. The staff are lovely (but there is 1 guy who works on the bar in the evening - Demetrius, who WE found can be very difficult to get along with but seemed to have a good relationship with some holiday makers - we tried; even offered to buy him a drink but we didnt even get a smile!)
