“Aquasol village”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2013

We write this on our last day whilst still at the Aquasol village. Great holiday and friendly atmosphere. Rooms spacious with a fridge, kettle cups and teaspoons. Decor and fittings in rooms similar to any other 3/4 star abroad. Maid service is 5 times per week with bins only emptied on other 2 but you can ask for the service on other days. Maids don't do any washing up but then why should they? As said previously some of the towels are a bit worn and on occasion musty as if folded before aired properly but appear clean. Extra pillows, iron hairdyers etc available if you ask for them. Pools, waterpark etc clean and seem well maintained - big plus is lifeguards who appear to do what they are there for which is not something we have experienced much of abroad. Food is quite good, maybe less choice than we have experienced elsewhere but chips and chicken nuggets or fish fingers always available for kids. Chef happy to accommodate and has cooked additional food when requested. Pool bar does snacks during the day and although limited choice quality better than we had in 4 star last year. Kids club was very popular with our 6 year old. Entertainent team great - less of them than we have experienced elsewhere (only 3 of them) but they do really well and are friendly and lively despite their long hours! Rep friendly, approachable and willing to assist. Reception and bar staff all friendly, approachable and willing to help if required. All in all we have got what we would have expected for what we paid and for a 3 star. the thing that outstands most to us is all hotel, pool entertainment and rep are focused on customer service. My only real negative has been the cost of wifi which at €5 for 90 minutes could be offered as a cheaper package for 7 days or something similar like most hotels in uk. Free wifi available in various bars on in coral bay though if you want to walk up the hill!

Late booking for a good-value all-inclusive deal. Efficient, helpful & friendly staff. Enthusiastic in-house entertainment team organised daily water volley-ball, water polo, aqua-aerobics, darts, boules and around 8pm an hour of kids dancing and bingo leading up to the adult entertainment at 10pm (more later). Local brands of beer, wine and spirits plus soft drinks, food, ice creams etc included as much as you want. Good quality and variety of food each meal in restaurant (fast food menu at pool-side). Our supplementary deluxe studio room (over the restaurant) spacious, clean and comfortable; cleaned 5 days a week (bins daily), towels replaced 3 times a week. Room TV reception poor and limited number of channels. Hotel charges for Wifi and lobby PC internet services and mobile roaming services very expensive - best to use public phone boxes (10 Euro phonecard) or free Wifi available in local cafes/restaurants. Main hotel attraction is the on-site water park - great for kids and adults alike. For lazy-day sunbathing the large swimming pool and smaller 0.8m depth pool with pool bar and café are well equipped with sun-loungers and parasols - enough for all those who wanted them. The beach is less appealing (very pebbly) and few guests used it although there is an aqua sport facility located at one end offering sub-aqua diving, banana boat, water skiing etc (quite expensive in our opinion). It was too hot for us to try the sauna facility, nor the massage or beauty therapy available to buy (but carried out in a place by the local shops). There is a well stocked mini-market on site and launderette if required.
For us the adult evening entertainment was the big let down (bingo, karaoke, and performances of local dancing, fire show and 'west end musicals' by the entertainment team - and the inclusive drinks stop at 11.45pm! Our salvation was to take the 5 minute walk up the steep unlit hill (take a torch) to the 100 yard strip of restaurants and bars (and pharmacy, shoe shops etc) - Kikkos Bar has up to four live acts a night and reasonably priced drinks (0.5litre beer glasses) and if you like Elvis Presley try Blazing Saddles (more expensive drinks in smaller glasses).
The local buses are frequent (every 15 mins) costing 1.50 Euros for a single trip (5 Euros for day tickets) - Paphos for the Tombs of the Kings, Medieval Castle, Archaeology Site and nightlife clubs and entertainment (food and drinks are expensive). There is a beautiful beach, small harbour and rocky islands to explore snorkelling plus boat trips etc beyond the main beach (very crowded and more expensive) of Coral Bay where the bus service ends (a 5 minute bus trip). Next to the Coral Bay Hotel it was probably the cheapest seaside café and restaurant for food and drinks during our stay in Cyprus.
To sum up - Aqua Sol Village is probably ideal for young families but other locations are more suitable for the 18-30 set or mature adults like ourselves.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms close to the entertainment area if your family members need to sleep before midnight.

Expected a relaxing week as we was told by the travel agents that most of the children would be still in school but they lied. Room really need a make over, towels were only changed every other day, were really thin, hard and smelt, but the air con was fab. House keeping only came in to empty the bins 5 out of 7 days. we paid for bottle water and some other soft drinks even though we were all-inclusive. day time entrainment staff was fab thank you to ALEX and the gang.( This is ideal for a family holiday ) one trip to look out for is the WAVE DANCER it was so amazing we did 3 separate events ( thank you to all crew and captain for making a memorable holiday). one last thing you will be expected to find your own room as there are no porter don't forget your own pool towel as they are not provided .

Room Tip: over looking the sea or by reception

Check in a bit slow but many of us arrived together! Room very spacious and clean. Rooms cleaned 5 out of 7 days. Staff friendly and courteous. Entertainment staff very enthusiastic and some of the entertainment OK (Elton John appealed to most). Alcoholic drinks of good quality. Communal areas a little tired but began clean in the morning. Breakfast was quite good, offering a good selection of hot and cold food and drinks. Lunch and evening meal were very samey but quite a good choice. Plenty of sunbeds at any time of day and loved the lazy river. Very good family hotel especially if you like Russians! Played the most bizarre game of Bingo - called in English, Greek and Russian! Overall booked holiday last minute and was pleased with hotel, however ate out a few times to have a change. Particularly enjoyed Samisen, Japanese restaurant. (Staff very entertaining)

Not sure why people complained about the rooms,we had a really nice apartment,it was clean and spacious, regularly cleaned, bed's changed and clean towels.
The childrens entertainment was well organised and the children seemed to be having lots of fun.
There was plenty for the older people to if they wanted to join in or you could just lay by the pool/ or on the sunbeds on the grass looking out at the sea. There were plenty of sunbeds,no-one went without.
The water park was brilliant/the lazy river being the best :) .
The food was always well presented and there was a good choice for everyones taste.
The bar staff were great especially young George, and the waitresses and waiters worked extremely hard at all times and always had a smile for you especially Anna.
My only one complaint is the towels they were very small and had an odd smell.
Thank you for a lovely holiday x

a very nice hotel clean and tidy, staff very helpful, a little let down by the restaurant food but the pool snack bar was great. The water park was fabulous for adults & brill for kids. I would go back again.

We have just returned from a week in this hotel. We wanted a cheap week & at 375 each we got this. The hotel is great for families and childen given the water park, slides and entertainment. The food was lovely each night and the themes are a good idea, we had Cypriot, Chinese, carvery & Italian choice was great and all tasted fresh. The poolside snack bar was great for during day limited choice but generally something for everybody and as as long as it's reasonable they will make off menu (eg we missed breakfast a couple of times so asked for toast which we got - although once without butter!). There is no overlap with the bars and they are quite strict with times, for example they stop serving at 11.45pm but you need to be at the bar for 11.40. One small critism is that the main bar staff could be a little friendlier. However the reception staff and snack bar staff were friendly enough, but a special mention to the entertainment team, Alex, Donna & Kiki who were great. Daytime activities were fun, we did volleyball, water polo & the quiz most days, as for evening entertainment it was what you would expect from an AI. The rooms were basic but adequate another slight critism would be the maid service, the room was spotless when we arrived but during the week other than the beds being made and bleach down the toilet once, we were unsure what else the maids had done! If I was the hotel I would also invest in new towels as these were harsh on the skin and didn't smell particularly nice. Speaking of towels, you need to take your own beach towels as these are not provided (I always do, but I know of at least one couple who were caught out expecting towels as part of the AI service). There is hill to walk up to get from the hotel to the bars & restaurants in Coral Bay (10 minute normal walk 15 if slow stroll) there is actually two hills, the first is fairly steep but ok, it's the heat that makes it worse and the second is less of an incline but not lit which is not great when walking back. There are plenty of bars, shops & restaurants to enjoy on the strip or you can catch the bus to Paphos harbour (and other places obviously) really cheaply & they are frequent & run until midnight. A must do when in Paphos/Coral Bay is the Wave Dancer boat trip (see my other review!). Finally, Steph the Thomas Cook rep was great, very friendly, really helpful and genuinely cared for all the guests. We would consider going back, as overall this was a great holiday and good value for money.
