“Fabulous Holiday and great hotel”
Reviewed July 13, 2009

My partner and I recently went to a friends wedding at the Aliathon Holiday Village and it did not disappoint. We were delayed at the airport and did not arrive to the hotel until midnight and all the staff were very helpful. Our welcome packs and room keys were handed out on the coach as well as registration forms so all we had to do when we got there was hand the forms over and have our all inclusive wristbands fitted.

If you are going to Cyrprus then all inclusive is the way to go. Cyrpus is a very expensive place in fact lots of things were more expensive there than you would pay in the UK..

We stayed in the fishing village in a deluxe one bedroom apartment it was lovely. Where we were situated was quiet and we had a lovely veranda we could sit on and enjoy the hot nights. Although people keep saying they wanted to be upgraded to the fishing village I could not see reason why. I went for a walk around the old part which is called the Aegean Village and it looked very nice and clean. It had two pools which were much quieter than the pools in the fishing village.

Friends stayed in the Aegean Village and they were more than happy with their room.

The food in the restaurant was varied and had alot of choice. The fruit for breakfast was a little disappointing as I was expecting a wide variety but all you got were oranges, grapefruit, apples and pears and tinned peaches. There were lots of other items on offer such as pastries, cheese and ham and of course cooked breakfast.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The entertainment staff were all great and very talented singers. They made everyone feel at home.

The wedding took place outside the chapel in the courtyard which was lovely. The wedding breakfast was also held outside in the courtyard and the food was excellent. The weather was very hot and therefore if I go back it would be at a cooler time of the year so you could do more sightseeing.

The hotel is definitely geared to families and therefore not ideal if you want a really peaceful holiday but all in all the wedding was fab, the hotel was great and the staff were friendly.

Lovely hotel, mainly geared for families from about 5 to 14. Facilities for that age group are brilliant. Accommodation is far better in the fishing village to the Aegean village which is the newer part of the hotel.
I went with 2 teenage girls 17 and 19 but 8 Euros in a cab to the bars and nightclubs so not the end of the world.
Food was pretty good and always a good selection. Main restaurant was a bit like a school dinner hall, but food and drink was fine.

Booked this day before we went, got a huge delux 2 bedroomed apartment which was very well fitted out with all anyone could need ( room 608 ) top floor overlooking the lagoon pool in the Agean village part. Would have liked to try the new fishing village area, but after looking at one or two of the rooms and some air con issues deceided to stay where we were. This apartment is at the side of the commercial area fronting the road but any noise was never a problem, also handy for the supermarket and restraunts.
The food in the hotel is above average for all inclusive with a good choice, and some of it was actually HOT. Staff were excellent at all times and smartly dressed, better in some cases than the customers ( why some men come to the evening meal in a vest and shorts is beyond me, as the children dress up very nicely). We spoke to a couple who had transfered out of the Agean to the Fishing village which cost them 90 euro's for the week for the same standard of room. Loads of stuff for the kiddies to do and the fishing village is the place to be for all activities, but strangely quite a few people from the fishing villiage came to the lagoon pool in the old part for most of the day to get away from the noise of 200 kids doing their thing, Yeeee haaaaaaaa! so its up to you!
Would i go back, certainly would especially at the price i got it for ( £465.00 each for a weeks all inc, if i had paid the full wack of £994 ( delux 2 bed pool view) + flight taxes £100 each for 1 week All inc, then i think i might have to rethink. Any problems, yes i should have booked 2 weeks and not 1 and yes we did see some ants, they came to inspect the honey pot in the restraunt as one alarmed woman pointed out to me as i was halfway through my cornflakes and honey one morning as though she had seen a herd of cows paddling about in the honey pot and it was a major crime in progress. Wonder what she would have said if Escargot or frogs legs had been on the counter!

We've just come back from staying at the Fishing Village side of the Aliathon resort. We stayed self catering onlooking the pool and to date is the best apartment rooms we've ever stayed in.
Upon arrival at gone midnight we we greeted with a smile and very quickly booked in and and taken by golf buggy up to our apartment, the bellboy even made sure the air con was on before he left. The next day we had a courtesy call just to make sure everything was fine. The room was cleaned daily and in my opinion quite well but it was noted that the cleaners were sometimes in at 10am one day and 4pm another but they were always hardworking.
Facilities we thought were good, the gym, sauna and steam room and pool we used, good facilities for kids including a creche at the rear of the complex (though we didnt have kids with us) I never heard anyone complaining.
Location is good and the complex is all quite close and on the main road along the sea front. Walking to Paphos main port front is about a half an hour walk. We had a car to visit the island and this seemed to be a good location to get out of Paphos quickly once you worked out the back roads to get to the old main road to Limmassol.
I'd recommend to anyone 30-50year olds like us, but Cyprus has become pricey now its joined the Euro.

Just returned from 10 nights at the village Aliathon, the hotel itself is nice, but the hotel staff are miserable (this does not include the first choice team who were superb). We travelled on the 24th June with my mother in law who is disabled, at the time of the booking we asked for rooms near to each other on the ground floor as my mother in law cannot walk upstairs. My mother in law was placed into the new fishing village on the top floor and i was placed in the Aegon part of the village. We expressed our concerns to the rep who was fantastic and changed the rooms straight away. Still in the old part of the village i was told by the rep that the room we had was not available in the fishing village
Im glad i was not in the new part as this was apparently VERY noisy at night, but the old part was so quiet. On our first night there our air con broke down which was horrendous as the heat in the room was unbearable , the hotel sent round a maintenance man straight away to fix it, we were moved from our room to another, The rooms in the old part are dated but were ok, we only went there to shower and sleep(and to do the do).
My two young kids loved the pool outside block 700 which had rocks they could jump off (this was the best pool we found) sunbeds were plentiful and there was no getting up at silly oclock to save a sunbed.
Food was ok, plenty of chioce for everyone except for kids unless they eat chicken nuggets and chips.
Before i went to the village another review mentioned that when they were there, there had been a wedding and they had been pushed out of the main resturant, this happened twice whilst i was there both on Saturday nights. not good as the BBQ they laid on for us was shocking .
The first choice team especially the kids entertainers worked so hard, If you are going you must watch the kids disco and Paul who is one of the entertainers do the CAN CAN soooo funny,
On the whole a good hotel, nice break kids loved it as did all of us, Would i go back i dont know as i found the hotel staff moody, everything seemed to be a problem and most were rude,
Also whilst we was there the main hotel pool at the fishing village was being repaired, they had cango drills hacking up the tiles from 0800 till 0000 , thank god i was in the quiet part ............

The hotel was absolutely fantastic, the food, the entertainment, the rooms etc were all brilliant! We also got married there!
We got married in the chapel courtyard at the Aliathon holiday village 10 days ago - it was fantastic! However, we didn't hold our reception there because aswell as paying for a meal for the all inclusive guests and guests that weren't staying in the holiday village, they wanted another 55 euros per person not staying at the holiday village as part of a day pass. This meant that we would have been paying around £100 extra for external guests. Also we would have to have paid £350 for the beverage package as "all inclusive drinks arent included on a wedding package".

We had 33 guests including 2 infants and they wanted over £1700 for our reception. They also only told us about one of the places that we could have held the reception at. They were also aware that our friends had thei reception a week earlier and had all drinks included and the brides hair and for 15 guests it cost them around £500. They seemed to offer different people different packages and werent interested if you didnt want to spend lots.

I would highly recommend doing what we did. We booked external photographers, an English lady called Anna and her husband Marios and they were superb. We saved well over £200 and got more for our money. They charged £300 for 30 photo's plus 2 larger pics, plus £100 for the disc with 300 pics on. First choice charge £509 for 24 photos, plus £300 for the disc with pics on. Here is their website www.paphosweddingbelles.co.uk. Marios is a very very good photographer and we recommended him to all wedding parties at the hotel.

Anna also put us in touch with her friend Elena for the recrption. Elena runs Kefalos Tourist Village which is a lovely hotel right on the sea front. They set aside a private area for a 4 course meal (One of the best meals I have ever had) right on the beach. We got some lovely photos with the sun setting. The hotel is 10 mins from Aliathon. We started with Soup and then melon or prawn for starter, salmon or pork with fetta cheese for main and profitarols for desert, they also did a kids menu. £28 for adults and a kids menu for £10 each. We had around 20 bottles of water and 8 bottles of wine and the total price came in at under 700 English Pounds. There were other menus also which had better and more choice than Aliathon. The waiter service was excellent and they got a very good tip. A link to their website is here http://www.kefalos.com.cy/kefalos-home.htm

Another thing to watch out for, the first choice wedding co-ord will offer to get you a declaration car to yriskipou town hall for £35. Out the front their is a taxi rank and they would charge £8 each way, so first choice charge double.

First choice wedding planner was okay and very excited. The hotel wedding planner wasnt very good and her sales pitch was even worse.

£ = Euros in this write up.

Id recommend the weddings here to anyone, here is a link to our photo's: www.facebook.com/sharonamyclarke…

If you do get in touch with Wedding Belles or Kefalos please mentiuon us Sharon and Jamie Clarke and say hello from us. xxx

Arrived back from the holiday village Aliathon where we only went for a week as to test the water to see if it was as described on their website. And was pleasantly surprised as it was better. When we arrived at the airport we were given our key card, registration form, info on the resort and tags for our luggage. This was so check in was quick and painless. Once we handed in the completed registration form in at reception we was taken to our apartment in a golf buggy and our luggage was dropped off 10mins later. We stayed in the fishing village (room 1129) where we had the kids den (junior suite) which was perfect as the kids had their own room with a TV and playstation 2 (take your own games as it cost 2 EUR a day to hire and they have a limited selection). In our room we had a large and very comfortable bed, flat screen TV and a DVD player that had a SD slot so you could view any photo's taken straight onto the TV. The apartment also had a kitchen with a toaster and kettle. Our room was cleaned everyday with bath towels and beach towels being changed. There was enough entertainment for the children in the day as they had the splash pool with all the slides and the pirate ship, park with swings etc and the kids club (our children (6 & 4) loved the kids club as the got a t-shirt, hat, drinks bottle and a backpack when they joined). The food from breakfast to dinner had more than enough selection; on most days we never bothered eating lunch in the main restaurant as the food in the snack bar had a good variety from pasta, salad, grilled chicken/fish, burgers, pizza, chips and desserts. The entertainment was ok and is only to be taken light hearted (especially the bingo but this gives you a chance to win some money) but the entertainment staff at the resort try to make sure that everyone has a good time (during the day and of the evening). All the staff at the resort were friendly and very helpful and made sure we’re had everything we needed. On the whole we all really enjoyed our time there and will more than likely will book up again for next year.
