We visited on our way down into Paphos town.
Was really interesting looking around the tombs. Its a very big site so make sure you have comfortable footwear on.

A very interesting site to see. I love Greek history. Being able to scramble around by yourself without a tour is deffo the way to do it :). Make sure you take plenty of water. Enjoy :)

Visited in August (so I guess we were asking for it to be hot!). Easy bus ride from Paphos and well worth the visit. Very cheap day out too. Site is big and fascinating to explore. Children (and me) ran all over looking at each tomb an marveling that they they get grander and more complex the further you explore from the entrance. Really quite a mini Indiana Jones experience. Interesting that people lived in these tombs for a period also (suspect the shade was welcome!). Take Water!! Really recommend going to the tavern next to the bus stop for a drink afterwards.

This might not have appeared high on my list of must-do things while visiting Cyprus, but having said that if you have half a day to spare and want something a little bit different to the usual archeological sites, you might well enjoy this. Unlike a lot of the other sites on the island with their fences and barriers to keep you at a distance, this is just the opposite. Go with a decent pair of shoes, plenty of water and if you're not worried about getting a bit dusty, you can look forward to spending a good few hours exploring above and below ground. If your knees and hips are up to it you can get into all sorts of nooks and corners, which makes it a lot more interesting. Just a short bus ride from Paphos or from Coral bay, it is very easy to get to, as the bus stops right by the entrance. However, it might be worth asking the bus driver to let you know when you're there, as the entrance is not that well signposted and is a bit hidden amongst all the roadworks along that stretch of road, so you might well miss the stop. Well worth the few euros entrance fee.

Beautiful grounds with little stories about each tomb i.e. how long it's been there who it housed etc. You can go into the tombs too.
Be warned, take some water as it's a lot bigger than we thought and no vending machines or shop or anything
