but the service at breakfast was not the best, and not what one would expect from a 5 star hotel. We had the impression that our presence there was a nuisance, because we arrived 15 minutes before breakfast closing time, and the staff seemed very eager to pick everything up. Our requests were met with either a rude tone of voice, a stony face, at best with a sardonic smile, "thank you's" remained unanswered (is 'welcome' not customary in eastern europe?) and we even received a threat regarding coffee (if you order past the 'deadline' again, you will have to pay for it!) Basil Fawlty would have been proud…
The staff at the reception were very nice though. But when we mentioned the breakfast incident, we received the following incredible reply: 'We're very sorry. Next time you can have all the coffee you like. But we're surprised that Svetlana did that. Tatiana is usually the worse of the two, and most complains concern her'. Lovely… (names altered)

My partner and I after having been together for 25 years decided to have a Xmas break to celebrate the occasion. We booked all inclusive at their sister hotel and were transferred to the Thalassa Boutique at the last moment. With anticipation we carried on with the arrangements. What a great decision. On arrival we were greeted with a friendly and informative young lady on reception. We entered the restaurant and again the staff could not be more helpful. Having worked on luxury cruise liners and 5* hotels I was impressed, to say the least, at the quality of the food by an exteremely talented kitchen brigade and being delivered by a very professional friendly and efficient restaurant staff. There was no difference between the all inclusive menu and the regular restaurant menu. The festive buffet had gourmet produce from all over the world. Even at breakfast every day there was smoked salmon of the highest quality and champagne and fresh orange juice for anyone to consume. The grounds of the hotel were maintained to a very high standard, as were the rooms. Unusually the owner joined in with all the Xmas festivities and was most approachable and friendly. Without a doubt the biggest asset at this hotel was the efficient and friendly staff from the young lady and Ewan behind reception and the rest of the team to the restaurant manager, head waiter etc. and not forgetting the two immaculately dressed barman. Our many thanks for a memorable stay.

From its superb location straddling an isthmus with the golden sands of Coral Bay on both sides to the excellent bar and restaurant we could find noting to reduce our total enjoyment of this hotel. Others have pointed out that the bar is expensive: true, but it's also very well stocked and simply a nice place to be. Yes, they have a malt whisky that costs several hundred points a shot, but it was distiller in 1825! If you'd into malt then this bar has one of the best ranges outside the UK.
Anyway, we were on an "All Inclusive" booking so everything was free, as long as you stick to the basics so we were on G&T and a Pimms every night; beer in the afternoons and wine with dinner.
The only potential "downer" was the single restaurant which limited choice, but the menu was varied and we had no problem - and the food was certainly most excellent.
So that brings me to the highlight of the Thalassa: the staff. It's hard to choose any individual from the receptionist who showed us to our room to the bar staff who had our drinks poured before we got there to George and Iannis in the restaurant. Everyone was relaxed and friendly and we felt very welcome.
Bearing in mind that I stay in many hotels on business and I have a high status with Intercontinental, Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott hotel loyalty schemes, I rate the Thalassus as one of my top three hotels in the world and hope to return for another great holiday!

Room Tip: Every room has a sea view so your choice is sunrise or sunset on your balcony. We found sunrise was a very good choice.

Beautiful place in a calm and peaceful location surrounded by Mediterranean Sea from both sides. I am not sure if its same quiet during summers, but our winter getaway was perfect there. Sun was shining directly to your veranda and you didn’t want to leave the place. Just relax. Service is exceptional. And massage in SPA was really good.
Thing to improve: Dine in. Food was little bit cold.

Room Tip: All rooms are facing the sea

Hotel deserve maximum 3*, it's old and spa smells bad. We stayed over the weekend in January (low season), staff was rude, and not helpful. Furnitures in the room are old, water in the bath was not going down and there were yellow signs everywhere in the bathroom. The only nice thing was stunning view, but for this price I can have better hotel with the same view. I think all the good opinions are from ppl who never been in really good 5* hotel.

Room Tip: Choose higher floors
