Myself and friend stayed here in the beginning of May for one week. Great hotel or should I say village. On arrival we were taken by a buggy to our room. The room itself is very clean and spacious with a fridge, toaster, kettle, small oven, balcony, single beds, hair dryer, shower over bath, air-con (no additional cost). Towels were changed twice. The apartment had shutters which meant you had no idea what time of day it is when you woke which is great for a sleep in. The hotel is very well maintained. Walking through the labyrinth of paths to get to the pool or beach is really pretty with the well kept flowers/bushes etc. The pool is very clean, lots of sunbeds, all free of charge. Beach towels are also free of charge but you do have to collect/return them at specific times. No one hassles you if you want to hold on to them for longer. The bar next to the pool serves until 1am ish and the prices are roughly the same as the UK. The food at hotel bar was okay but could be better. We didn't eat in the restaurant. They also offer evening entertainment and beach and pool games/excerise for those who are interested. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Also there is a shop within the grounds which sells everything you could want including fresh bread, pastries etc. We often bought wine for the room/balcony which is more reasonably priced. When checking out we opted to pay a further 6 euros per hour to occupy the room as our flight was later in the evening.
Outside the hotel it's a five minute walk to the main street where you'll find restaurants, bars etc. Fat Mamas has evening entertainment and good food from a varied menu. No queue. Share if you want fajitas. We caught the bus across the road to the harbour (10 mins away) every evening. 1 Euro each way. The last bus returning was at midnight. The harbour offers lots of restaurants etc and is lovely. If you're looking for more nightlife, this is located just behind the harbour which we didn't discover until we were leaving. If you turn left at the harbour and walk a few yards there's an Italian restaurant (set back a little) which served great food and had great service. There's a little touting on the harbour but you're not approached until you are reading the menu which is when you are offered free wine or discount. No pressure.
On the bus travelling to Coral Bay I'm glad we had chosen the Kefalos, as some on the hotels on the way, were quite remote.
To sum up the holiday - this hotel is great for families, couple or friends but not large groups on a stag night etc. I would definately stay her again and would recommend it. Great location, clean and friendly with easy access for days out etc.

Room Tip: Pool or beach view didn't look to have much privacy. We tried for a free upgrade before arrival and were glad we didn't get it.

Fantastic holiday despite a couple of hiccups with the room. We had a great room overlooking the beach and although a little noisey while the evening entertainment went on it was still a great family holiday.

All the staff were fantastic and very helpful. The resident cat that strolls around the locations is probably the biggest cat I have seen and even he was friendly despite being nicknamed scarface claw by my son.

The daily activities were great fun and made by AJ. He was great value and although he could be percieved as a little rough round the edges he was fantastic. the previous comment about him being more suited to an 18-30 holiday park I feel is a little harsh. He was great with the kids and adults alike. Rico's fire eating and bed of nails mesmorised the kids.

The food selction was good as was the quality the only down side was the price of the drinks compared to outside the hotel.

Room Tip: Sea front and away from the pool area.

Generally a good holiday with great weather and food in local Cypriot restaurants.

Good points on the Kefalos - we stayed B&B

Friendly staff
good entertainment team
Clean enough rooms
good sea view rooms
Nice grassed areas for sun bathing
Decent enough breakfast
Nice walk to the harbour but unless you want to be sweaty on a night when you arrive at a restaurant in your night time attire then maybe do it early morning.

Bad points on the Kefalos

Selfish people (mainly British with families) reserving sunbeds at 7am around the pool and even the grassed areas had sunbeds reserved before 7.30am. No relaxing holiday here if you want a sunbed and have to be up early. I found laying on a towel in the grassed area much more comfortable.

Breakfast between 8.30 and 10am was a bit of a free for all with everybody dashing around as if they had not eaten for months, with the manners of people at times quite alarming. We found that if you got into the breakfast room before 7.30am it was very quiet and you could also have a free breakfast if you were not staying b&b as nobody was around checking at this time.

Nightly entertainment - 2 Amigoes and the guy who does the decades show were absolutely awful with people leaving early to retire for the night.

Nearby restaurants

On our first night we ate at fat mamma's after listening to the hype but we didn't return again during our 14 nights as it was generally a burger and chips type of place.

our top 3 restaurants were

Mother's restaurant (Lamb special is the best ever)
Metaxas (Duck very nice)
Laona restaurant (Small friendly cypriot restaurant)

Room Tip: Sea view rooms make a difference to make up for the fact of how many selfish people visit this hotel and reserve sun beds

We had 7 nights at the Kefalos Beach in temperatures above 40c but the air conditioning was very effective and quiet. We had a studio for 2 which was spacious and high ceilinged and very well equipped if you wanted to self cater. The quieter rooms are away from the pool to the right of the main block the far left rooms have a car park view,to be avoided. Breakfast offered everything anyone could want.We took up very good dinner deals on offer at the time. The Saturday BBQ was excellent but don't fill yourself up with all the starters! The entertainment on Saturday was good too!
Take your own beach towels as the hotel ones are not handed out until 9.45 and by then the loungers in quieter areas will have been bagged. The best sea swimming is found by walking 100 yds to the right, shared with the next hotel. The pool, though large is packed and noisy all day and full of li-los .
There are 2 interesting archaeological sites in easy walking distance and so is the harbour. If you are self catering Lidls is a 20 min walk or 2 stop bus ride towards Coral Bay.
This was a very enjoyable break from the dreadful weather in Cornwall at the time in a beautifully organised and kept holiday village which really tried to give a village atmosphere with trees, flowering shrubs and the scent of honeysuckle and jasmine everywhere.

Room Tip: The quietest rooms are away from the pool to the right of the main block and facing south. The ones facing the sea will have people on loungers in front of them all day and little privacy.

We went to the kefalos for 15nts from 18th july, Sea v. HB, 2 adults 2 children (3&6)
they loved the mini disco, good selection of songs, she loved the Macka Wacka club dance especially when "Rico" took part or "AJ" they were great fun. "Rico" is very funny. Didnt take part in the kids club, but the staff were very nice. The pool is like a bath, heaven. Lovely gardens (banana trees)flowers, walk ways. Good entertainment during the day with great music selection. The pool bar is very good, also the service , food lovely and big portions. The beach is a nice stretch, rocky but lovely. Nice grassey areas. We walked the beach front path to the harbour, that was nice. The outside town has Mcdonalds, kfc ect, a Lidle 20 mins walk away, good bus service, we went to coral bay (15mins) nice place but was nice to get back to the kefalos. The Breakfasts were very good, great selection, good quality, also the evening meals, the dining area is very relaxing, great service and staff. we can see how they get good reviews.

Minor down points........
The evening deserts got very repetative, gateaux gateaux gateaux or melon or ice cream (very hard to get out the tubs), every night. (nice gateaux but fed up with it after a few nights).

The evening entertainment was'nt very good, repetative, boring. (we have been to cyprus 6 times now (different areas) we keep seeing the same acts!) but great entertainment team, they worked hard Rico and AJ. xxx

The sunbed towel savers!! OH MY you would have to get up really early to get one by the pool!!! same old thing people save them and dont turn up till lunch time!!(the odd few) but annoying.... Please inforce no saving the sunbeds!!.

The sea view rooms ground floor do have sunbeds outside the balconys, the grass area, people put towels on early, if you like to go back to your room for lunch or for the children to have a sleep, you will have people sunbathing VERY close to your balconey, NO privacy when you want to chill in your room or balc. I read the same review before we went and its very true, very unpleasant. i wish the hotel would move the sunbeds to the grass areas away from the balconeys. People would also put there towels on these beds and not return for hours same old thing selfish people.......

Lovey relaxing holiday. We done to the staff thank you, also the chefs x
