Travelled with my mum and son over the Easter holidays.

Mega Positives

Greeted with a warm, friendly smile by Alex, which made us feel we were back home (but with better weather). Our luggage was taken up one flight of stairs to our rooms, which Andreas chose for us so we could be near one another. If you have any requests/room preferences, please email the hotel ahead and they will do their best to accommodate you. Nothing is too much trouble.

Reception staff were as good as ever and the arrival of Alex to the team is very much a positive. Maria is very friendly, informative and personable and takes the time to talk to you. Restaurant Maria is as amiable, attentive and sociable and always shows an interest in the family. As for Andreas – what can we say that hasn’t already been said before!

The Centro pool terrace has been re-tiled and the walkways have been changed to a less slippery surface (much safer, especially the sloped areas). There is a new outdoor decking area outside the restaurant, which not only provides more seating for guests but is a lovely place to watch the sun go down. The other decking adjacent to the Hydro/Centro pool is having a bar installed so guests can have drinks at the poolside more easily. The Centro and Hydro pools are still as cold as ever!

Hotel rooms and grounds are spotless and the waiter service in the restaurant is quick (sometimes too quick when it comes to clearing the table)! Bar service can be a tad slow on occasion, but this wasn't a problem for us.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating, though a few new waiters were struggling with their English, which I'm sure will improve as the season continues. Given that the percentage of English speaking guests must be around 90%, I was surprised that on more than one occasion, even a basic drink order was incorrect or was told "I no speak English". But, and I must make this quite clear, the more senior restaurant/bar staff spoke and understood English very well and nothing was too much trouble.

Not Quite Negatives but…..

Upon arrival at Paphos airport we were met by a “would be” F1 female driver, who seemed shocked that there were 3 cases for 3 passengers! As she was unable to fit the luggage in the boot, one case travelled on the back seat, rendering the rear seat belts useless. She drove like the clappers, making the transfer between the airport and hotel in record time! However, the fact that she was using her mobile and reading schedules whilst driving, was enough for us to request a different driver (and larger vehicle) for the return journey, which, I might add, we got.

Building work was being carried out on the Deluxe Studio blocks, but we were aware of this before coming out and didn't really notice the sound or any disruption.

Our rooms were above the reception area, along a corridor, and as the floors were tiled, sound resonates. Loud voices and door slamming were the norm, but this was due entirely to the thoughtless and selfish behaviour of other guests. However, having pointed this out to the management, I believe the odd reminder notice around the corridors requesting guests to consider others, would not go amiss.

Food was plentiful but, in our opinion (and it is just that) was not as good or as varied as 18 months ago and on some days, seemed to lack appeal (especially the cooked vegetables). The desserts were lovely but very much the same each day, not to mention the huge amount of extra sugary treats on offer such as individual meringues, chocolate buttons, marshmallows, jelly pots/mousse type desserts etc, which attracted hordes of kids (and numerous adults) like flies to honey! Again, in our opinion, instead of being available at lunch and dinner every day, perhaps this could be reduced to evening meals only, twice a week, as an additional treat?

Having said all the above, we always managed to find something to eat (nobody goes hungry at the KJ!) and the salad bar/buffet was as delicious as ever, as was the breakfast selection.

As there are some children at the hotel I feel a few more child friendly amenities could be added to help keep the little darlings entertained (without turning the hotel into a playground)! Where the table tennis is under the Deluxe apartment building, perhaps you could add a Boules area or skittles? You could perhaps add an archery area (using suckers on the end of the arrows, of course) and perhaps bring back the giant chess if you still have it stored away. Just a thought...

Plenty of friendly cats, but not a nuisance. Numbers seem less than last time.

We hired a car for two days and travelled to Coral Bay one day, and then Aphrodite’s Rock the next. Reception will arrange this for you.

PARENTS: Please pay particular attention to the areas that are for adults only i.e. the gym, sauna/steam, Hydro & Adults only pool. No child under 16 should go anywhere near the jets in the Hydro Pool as their bodies and internal organs aren't developed enough to take a pummelling from these pressurised jets.

Only adults aged 18 and over are allowed in the Gym. An incident happened whilst on holiday that resulted in several trips to the local clinic for one young man (12) who ignored his mother's advice!

Management - can you please put clearer signs up in these areas making it absolutely clear the minimum age required for all these facilities, to minimise any further confusion/accidents. Thank you.

On a final note, we would, once again, like to thank everyone at the KJ for a wonderful holiday, made even more enjoyable because of their friendly and amenable approach to all their guests. Other hotels should learn “how to treat customers” from the KJ.

We’re returning again in August (with my husband instead of my mother) so we apologise in advance to Andreas & co!!

Dear Leanne,

We want to express our gratitude for your recent visit, and of course your detailed review online. On one hand we are happy to have met your overall expectations, but on the other we are disappointed that especially our cuisine left something to be desired. It is not often that we receive complaints on that front, but do rest assured that they will be taken seriously into consideration by our chef, for our improvement. See you in August!

Regards,

The King Jason team

I have fallen in love with King Jason :)

There are no words to decribe the hospitality and service. Would definately recommend King Jason as the top hotel in Paphos. From the minute you arrive the service is more than 5*.

The team are fabulous, nothing is too much and they are happy to help with anything you want. The buffet has something for everyone. The beach is within walking distance, however the facilities at King Jason are fantastic.

Thank you for a wondeful stay. I cannot fault anything.

Xx

The staff make this hotel. From the second you arrive Alex and Maria on reception make you feel like a VIP. We were treated to Champagne whilst Alex helped us plan out our whole holiday. We like to do a lot on holiday and he spent over 30 minutes helping us with our itinerary and finding and lending us guide books to where we wanted to go. We got a room upgrade which was a nice bonus. The hotel is very clean and there has been a lot of attention to detail especially with the pool areas and equipment in the apartments. The food is good but like all hotel food can be bit bland at times for those of us who like spices. The house wine is good. The service in the restaurant is excellent and there are very attentive and friendly managers who clearly have very high expectations which they have communicated to all of the staff.
It is small for an all inclusive hotel and this means it is able to be warm and friendly. There is only a 15 minute walk to the archaeology, old town or the shops. Easy to get to and plenty of parking. Weather in mid April was mostly warm and sunny without too much heat or too many crowds.

Room tip: Overlook pool - first floor

The hotel located a bit far away from the city center and the beach, like 10 minutes walk. Great service that you feel straight from the check in, lots of pools, nice gym, good food. Even they opened for us the breakfast more early because we were late for our flight.

I have never reviewed on Trip Advisor before, but in the case of this hotel I really felt I had to make my appreciation public. The numerous excellent reviews of the King Jason really are all true! We have just returned from a two week stay and I feel like I have left part of my heart behind!! There are many nice things to say about the King Jason (facilities, rooms etc) but it is the customer service and quality of the staff that truly set it apart. From the friendly and professional Maria, Alex and lovely Pavlos on reception, to the amazing, hard-working waiting & bar staff led by Maria in the restaurant, the whole team are committed to providing guests with exceptional, personal service and a first class holiday experience. Special thanks also to Nikos, Angela, Asbarouk (no idea of the spelling - sorry!) and Peppa in the restaurant who really went out of their way to make us feel like special and valued guests at all times. There is nothing I can say about the food which has not been said already - it really is that good!! Thank you Mr Andreas and all your team for a wonderful stay. We can't wait to come back.
