Booked this hotel as part of All Inclusive package with First Choice very shortly after returning from a family all inclusive holiday to Tunisia when we returned feeling we needed a holiday!
This trip was as a couple and we waited 10 months after booking to arrive at the fabulous King Jason. We arrived late, following flight delays and received a warm welcome from night reception and were shown to our amazing 1 bed apartment. More than adequate for our needs and could comfortably self cater for 4. Sandwiches were in the fridge- a nice touch. The following morning we began to realise why the reviews of the King Jason were so good and why we met so many people who were there on a return visit.
All the staff from the wonderful management to the lovely ladies that sweep the fruits that have fallen from the trees understand that you are there to holiday and that you don't want to be bothered by anything. I can honestly say that in my 10 days there in June- July I felt that I was in heaven- everything was just there, done and if there was a query- answered in no time. When we had a problem with a hire car- hotel on to it, sorted! I fancied a peppermint tea- track down a tea bag, sorted!
If you have a busy, stressful life- this really is the place to holiday.
If you want to hide away in the hotel and relax by the lovely pools you can, no need to bag beds as there are always plenty at each pool with option to be in adult only area (no need when we were there, only few well behaved and well cared for children). No loud music by the pool, no entertainers, just peace- and when you want some music, headphones to listen to your own choice of sounds. Whilst at the pool you are regularly visited by staff offering refreshing melon, snacks or moist wipes and taking drinks orders- and always with a friendly smile. The drinks are excellent, fabulous cocktails, good lager, even the house wine is good- the sparkling rose is great for dinner.
Some of the properties neighbouring the hotel are a little shabby but the King Jason is maintained to a high standard, clean, cared for and safe. The ambience is great, the layout works well with distinct areas, all with a purpose but versatile and flow one to the other. After a few days it really feels like a home from home as the staff get to know you, your likes etc and the stresses that you have escaped back in UK melt away. King Jason manage to achieve this without you really noticing- but when you take the time to watch the staff they are working so hard and really want you to have your perfect holiday- they understand that that is their role and they seem to take pride and even enjoy achieving that. They are the King Jason, Andreas and Maria's greatest success.
We were happy at the hotel on our lazy pool days but also was perfect as a base for exploring. Buses are near by and frequent to get you further afield, Paphos harbour a 15 minute walk and the Old Town 25 minutes walk. There are many bars and tavernas around the hotel within an easy walk from the british style pub(if that's your thing) or a traditional Cypriot tavern and cuisine if you prefer the more 'when in Rome' approach to holidaying. The staff at King Jason are very happy to make recommendations and assist the hapless traveller with directions etc. We went out for a gorgeous meal on staff recommendation.
We hired a car for 3 days- perfect to explore mountains and other coastal regions- Latchi is quiet and beautiful. We had no problem parking front or back of the hotel within the gates.
I travel with an adult fussy eater- never before have I seen him choose food so easily, with variety and clear his plate at every meal whilst away- he only had chips once(and not at King Jason). I am more adventurous and tried some new foods whilst at King Jason. All the food was well cooked with plenty of flavour and made with quality ingredients- superb- be warned, you could easily overeat here- I put on 4lbs in 10 days!! I never saw uneaten food being returned to the kitchen- only empty plates.
This is a great hotel, it's not the height of luxury but does not profess to be- who wants to holiday next to pompous people anyway? This place is perfection for all of us that work hard, appreciate getting great value for our money and need to step off the treadmill of life for a while. King Jason gets this and ensures that your time off the treadmill is whatever you want/need it to be- but if you want pomp, awful cheap entertainment, typical all inclusive conveyer belt and noise, stay away- the King Jason is not for you.
Andreas & ALL King Jason staff I thank you, I returned to UK on Sunday feeling 10 years younger than when I arrived in wonderful Paphos. You played a big part in that, for me, you are the perfect hosts in my ideal setting when I need 'an escape' holiday. I/we will definitely be back.
