We were decidely underwhelmed by the Helios.
The room was clean but in desperate need of a re-fit. The furnishings were very out of date and quite tatty. Our beds were seriously hard and lumpy and we both used to wake up every morning with aches and pains. Even the slightest sound seems to carry for miles and we could constantly hear people talking and moving about. The maids - bless 'em - also seem to make more noise than you'd expect to be possible, usually when you're trying to get a lie in :-)
The staff didn't really want to chat or even really say hello, and often seemed to avoid eye contact.
The pool was OK. Luckily when we stayed it was pretty quiet, but I imagine that peak season it could very crowded so we were glad we stayed when we did.
The area is nice enough - if a bit dead - there is Sienna and Wisom next door, both very good (Sienna has better food, but Wisom cheaper and friendlier). Over the road there is Pappadums a very nice Indian restaurant
Papho itself is crawling with touts. On our first day we got stopped by 7 of them in 5 minutes - The first one before I'd even finished locking the car. Some of them are quite pushy and don't like being told you're not interested.
My advice would be to hire a car and just explore the island, we happily got lost for days on end and enjoyed seeing the real Cyprus.
