We spent a week there in early October. The whole atmosphere was excellent. There were a mixture of nations and a good majority had been there before. The Keo beer was perfect at 2.80 a pint. The little beach with its amazing waves. The quietness at night. Get them to send their taxi-driver for you. It costs 28 E. If you just arrive and take one from the airport it could be more.
The age group was 20 to 70 which again shows it has what we all need. Dont hesitate try it out.

2 lovely weeks at the Helios Bay, never been to an hotel where so many people have returned, some for the past 20 years. Can't wait to go back. At Sienna next door the food (especally the kleftico) is fantastic and for fish you can,t beat the very authentic Cypriot restaurant over the road( Kasfaris I think) If you want to swim in the sea turn left at the clifftop and walk along to the man-made lagoon, warm safe swimming

Good value for the price.
BUT: We wanted a studio with an extra bed for 3 people, which we had indicated in our booking. Upon arrival, we found out, they hadn´t read our demand for an extra bed, so one of us had to sleep on a very uncomfortable thin sofabed for the night. We were then given the opportunity to change rooms and they gave us a one bedroom apartment without any extra payments. We liked the apartment and it was clean, the apartment-sofabeds were comfortable. However, the staff was not very friendly or helpful. Changing rooms, we forgot a cardigan, which, despite asking various times, we never got back, because someone probably took it. The staff never even bothered to help us retrieve it, but instead were very rude and indifferent.

I have just been reading the reviews for Helios Bay Hotel, Cyprus. My husband and I have been going to Cyprus for about 10 years now and always stay at the Helios. The first time we stayed there was for a week and we were so impressed the next time we stayed was 2 weeks. Now we are retired we stay there 6 weeks at a time twice a year. I am quite shocked at some of the comments.
From the first time we stayed we have been treated so well by everyone. Nicos and Loucas are there to smooth out any problems very quickly if there are any, the staff also do everything to help.
The rooms are kept spotlessly clean. Yes sometimes the cleaners make an early start but this is so they can do their job properly especially when the hotel is fully booked . I'm a very light sleeper but haven't been disturbed by them yet.
Each time we go we find they have been updating the rooms at great expense and can't wait to see what we will find when we arrive on the 7th November - we left there the middle of April.
The wifi is free and although it may be a little slow compared to some parts of the UK - Cyprus has not got the fast speeds yet but they are upgrading all the time.
With regard to complaints about cigarette burns on the furniture, ripped curtains, etc. it is not the management or staff that do the damage but the "guests" that stay there.

Room Tip: Sea view as the sunset is spectacular.

Just returned from a weeks stay at the Helios which was ideal for our needs (family group with baby & elderly grandmother). It is ideally located with fantastic views of the ocean, a very good bus service just outside the hotel and scenic buggy- friendly path for a nice walk along the coast towards pafos.

The rooms are very clean and comfortable & look nice (thanks to the excellent & friendly housekeepers). The bathrooms could perhaps use updating, in particular a better shower would have been nice. Also the rooms could use extra drawers.

The grounds of the hotel are lovely including a fantastic courtyard with banana plants, the pool bar overlooks a beautiful ocean view with fantastic sunsets most evenings & a lovely pool - it isn't big but was a nice place to spend time and was quiet enough for the baby to play happily. There is also a nice play area with swings and slides.

We didn't want to hire a car this time so the location was ideal with good restaurants right next door (Sienna is particularly good and excellent value for money), the wisdom restaurant also offers good meals for even less and has very friendly staff. Aqui is slightly more expensive but is well worth a visit for the outstanding food and friendly service.

There is also an excellent bus service that takes you to pafos in 15 minutes passing by the tombs of the kings (well worth a visit), & a very good Lidl on route (has lovely bread etc for self catering lunches & very cheap booze!) In the opposite direction the bus takes you to coral bay. The hotel has also prepared a very helpful info sheet detailing how you get to a large number of local attractions using the buses. There is also a free transfer bus that takes you to the zoo picking up from just outside the hotel.
