“Cyprus at its best”
Reviewed November 17, 2012

My husband arranged this trip as an independent traveller, opting not to use a tour operator. We arrived and were immediately impressed by the reception staff, their attention to detail and the levels of service!
This only improved! Our superior room was spacious, well decorated and afforded every facility we could wish.
The hotel offers 4 restaurants and we were delighted with the choices of menu and the variety of cuisine. We opted for the all-inclusive Superior package and could not believe the level of value for money this afforded us - excellent choice!
The bar area was comfortable and all the waiting staff in every area were friendly, efficient and welcoming.
The pool, garden and beach area is well maintained and well appointed.
I cannot praise this hotel enough, will definitely return and will also recommend it to my friends and family.
Apparently, it is closing for refurbishment this winter - I could find no fault with the place, so can only imagine that an already excellent establishment will become even more sumptuous in the transformation. The only, very minor criticism, is the wi-fi service, but having visited the island many times and having relatives living in the area, we know that this is not an issue for the hotel alone.
We will be visiting again and can only thank the hotel staff for making our stay there so enjoyable.

We spent 2 weeks here in October. We got married at the hotel which meant we were upgraded from a superior room to a superior suite (room 264) which had sea views but also views of the roof below! We were all inclusive and found the house wine to be very good. The food in all the restaurants was excellent. The bonus of being all inclusive was being able to eat in any of the restaurants either buffet or a la carte and having breakfast in the Zephyr restaurant which was more relaxed than eating in Atrium restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A special mention has to go to Jayne, the wedding organiser. She took care of everything for us so all we had to do was turn up!
Although the hotel was fairly busy there was no problem getting sun loungers (although still some people out early reserving their spot!!). We would definitely recommend this hotel for service and location.

Room Tip: 4th or 5th floor for good sea views.

We agree with all the positive comments about this hotel. The staff were extremely pleasant and in particular Veronica in the bar and the handsome Romanian pool attendant! We liked having dressing gowns and slippers provided and also the fridge and tea making facilities in our room. The bed was enormous and very comfortable. The buffet breakfast and dinner offered huge amounts of food, excellent quality and a good choice. The stir fry was particularly good. If you don't like buffet dining there was the option of eating in the posh restaurant at extra charge. On half board we were able to choose a dish from the posh restaurant menu to be served in the buffet restaurant. The hotel is about 25 minutes walk from the harbour along a pleasant path by the sea. Of all the hotels in Paphos we felt this was in the best position, with a large garden leading down to a nice small beach with pontoons for swimming.

Room Tip: We paid a bit extra for a side sea view room which was well worth it, Our room was on the quiet side...

We spent a week here in October, which was a perfect time to go as the weather was still hot but it wasn’t as crowded as the middle of summer.
From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We upgraded to a junior suite with a private pool which I can not recommend enough, it was bliss. And breakfast each morning in the Zephyr restaurant was a relaxed and calm affair with a wonderful selection of continental and cooked breakfast items on the buffet that you could return to as many times as you liked.
We were on BB tariff and chose to eat out most nights although we did try the hotel restaurant one night. It was Mediterranean night and the buffet selection was very, very good, however we definitely found we could eat out elsewhere very nicely for much less.
Location wise, the hotel is spot-on. Right on the sea front, the Athena Beach has much more garden and beach space than a lot of the other hotels nearby and you can walk down the path along the seafront towards the harbour which only takes about twenty minutes. Alternatively, there is a bus stop right outside the front of the hotel and the buses are easy to use and incredibly reasonable.
The hotel is probably marketed to a slightly older guest than ourselves (we are in our late twenties/early thirties) and could benefit from a little modernising in some of the public areas, but even so I would return because of the great service and lovely food.

Our 3rd stay the 2nd this year was taken end of october and again the hotel staff were excellent. The buffet breakfast has every thing you could wish for all the eggs are cooked in front of you poached, fried all done as you wish.It is well worth paying the extra for a sea view as you dont get the road noise as at the front (inland/mountain view rooms). The rooms are large enough with modern tvs with several english sky channels, kept clean bathrooms good with a great overhead shower one of the best we have had in hotels. It is about a 25 minute walk into the centre of paphos but it is very nice to take the sea/beach walk down no traffic and good views all the way down. This hotel is well worth a visit

Room Tip: Full sea view 3rd floor

I stayed at the Athena Beach Hotel for two weeks in October and cannot say anything bad about the hotel. Everything was great. The staff were very proffessional and they looked after you very very well. The Buffet breakfasts, the dinners were very good and every day there were something new on the menu. Across the hotel there was the Fish Basket restaurant which was excellent.

Room Tip: The sea facing executive rooms are excellent

I stayed at the Athena Beach for a week with a friend. The room was lovely, very spacious, comfortable beds, and a decent sized bathroom with a great shower. There was a fridge, TV, and dressing gowns in the room which we enjoyed.
The balcony was large but we unfortunately were allocated a room with a mountain view. This sounds good but in practice meant we were overlooking the car park, road, and advertising hoardings across the road. We could see the mountains but the situation wasn't conducive to sitting out on the balcony. The balcony also never seemed to be in the sun.
That apart, we were very happy with the hotel which was spotlessly clean with lovely pools and right on the beach. I enjoy swimming in the sea but, as others have said, the huge rocks spoilt this and after banging my feet a couple of times on underwater rocks, I gave up and stuck to the swimming pools.
We never had any problems finding a sunbed although obviously we were there very late in the season and I don't think the hotel was full. The buffet breakfasts were delicious and evening meals were available although we chose to eat out every night.
We had some lovely meals , one of the best in Gabors, the French restaurant a short walk away towards the harbour, and the worst (and most expensive) at the Pelican restaurant at the harbour. Don't order the house wine there, it was undrinkable.
Drinks in the hotel are similar prices to the UK.
We would be happy to return to the Athena Beach but would probably pay a little extra for a sea facing room.

Room Tip: go for a sea facing one if possible
