Stayed at the Almyra for 2 nights and I have to say it was a pleasant experience. Our room was a seaview room with the true meaning of the word "seaview" and not sideview or no view. Right in front of the beach the sunset was spectacular.

A few points though:

- Its true, the hotel is family oriented with lots of family guests with children which makes it quiet noisy sometimes.
- Although the sea water is crystal clear, they should do something about the massive rocks underneath the sea which makes it nearly impossible to go in and have a swim.
- The restaurant and room service meals are quiet pricey. 20 Euros for a burger!!! Just go outside the hotel were there are numerous restaurants that serve good food at reasonable prices.

Family holiday with two kids, one 2 years and the other 4 months, our main criteria was fun for the eldest and recuperation for us somewhere we might choose as a couple with no kids.

We had two interconnecting rooms 3rd floor, i think, nice rooms with great views and only an issue being up there when we left something behind in room.

We spent our whole holiday around the pool or beach, never left the hotel grounds. We had a baby sitter every night who was excellent, price was about £5p/h.
We had full board, breakfast excellent staff great, lunch excellent.
Kids tea time excellent, great staff happy to help with all special requests slightly understaffed at this time. Dinner, food excellent lovely seating and sea views at main restaurant with beach level restaurant nice for a change with special menu nights ie. bbq.

Pool is perfect for kids, ie shade and shallow end, with great day beds and big umbrellas. We were low season and always had a pool area day bed/lounger but there are clearly not enough if the hotel was full.

Kids club, we did not book in advance and there was no availability, v popular as very good with excellent staff.

They have designed the hotel to appeal to all, there will always be compromises. It is a bit designer/boutique with v good service levels (for adult and kids needs) and excellent dining.

This hotel is ideal for young families, or a mixed group, with the same criteria we had - but you pay for it.

The beach is only ok but along with the pool is enough.

We have just returned from a week-long stay at the Almyra, Paphos and I have to say that it was fantastic. My husband and I are self-confessed holiday snobs and before having children were lucky to have had some amazing holidays and stayed in some fantastic hotels in many countries around the world. We thought that this would end once we had children as most of the hotels with the best range of children's facilities seem to come at the expense of style, decent restaurants or a spa.

When I stumbled across the Almyra I was over the moon. We booked a one bedroom suite with balcony and sea view and were not disappointed. We had two bathrooms, lots of space and a lovely view. The food was very good also - the two main restaurtants being Notios and Ouzerie (on the beach, by the water and was particularly nice at night). We also had room service on a few nights and this too was very good. The buffet restaurant served a special kids' buffet every evening which was perfect as it meant the little ones could eat early and the adults sit with them while enjoying a drink and watching the sun go down, and enjoy their own meal together later on.

I was surprised to read reviews from people who had not expected to see as many children at the hotel. I can only assume that they did not look at the hotel website where there are several mentions of children ('famillies are an integral part of Almyra's contemporary seaside resort philosophy...'), as well as the Baby-Go-Lightly service, which was brilliant. The hotel will supply pretty much everything you need for little ones in order to minimise what you have to pack - pushchairs (we took our own but seemed to be mainly Maclarens and Phil and Teds), cots, bottles, sterilisers, baby walkers, nappy bins, nappies, swim nappies, baby food, baby walkers etc. Some things carry a small charge, others are free. The creche was also brilliant and using this for 3 mornings meant we had time to read a book or enjoy a swim in the adult only pool, and for me to visit the newly opened spa which was fantastic. We also took advantage of the babysitting service on a couple of nights and the sitters are either the girls from the creche and the kids club, or from a reputable agency.

If I had to give any significant negatives for this hotel, I would struggle. Perhaps the drinks and toast at breakfast could have arrived a bit more quickly. The beach isn't great - quite small and very pebbly, but adequate enough to spend some time on with the kids building sandcastles! The hotel also isn't cheap but I do think you get what you pay for. Drinks could have been cheaper and babysitters cost more than we had anticipated.

Everything considered though, we had a fantastic time. I would strongly recommend it to people with young famillies.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights during a business trip to Cyprus.

The location is excellent and views from the hotel room very picturesque. My experience however went downhill from there.

Staff were not friendly. Aircon was not working and despite repeated requests it was not looked into nor was i moved to another room.

Its a shame as the hotel has great facilities.

The one saving grace that made up for the shabby treatment was the food. There was a huge variety.

All in all i woudn't recommend this hotel.

Having just returned from a weeks stay at The Almyra - We have been debating on what to write. The hotel itself is beautiful; the staff are generally attentive, professional and friendly, but we had a somewhat mixed holiday.
Upon arrival we were shown to our room (disappointing to say the least). We had booked a Deluxe Sea View Room with Terrace and were allocated a room that had not been used for a while (dust on furniture and dirty curtains, musty smell). I thought that the view would make up for room - although our "view" was the back of the pool area/restaurant area, with a small cracked terrace, tired lawn area in front and the sea was almost visible in the distance. I was upset since the holiday was a joint birthday for my husband and I. After speaking with reception they managed to find us a room that was what we had booked and paid a premium for; although this took an hour as they had to prepare and clean the room...not a problem as the Terrace bar is a beautiful setting to enjoy a drink. (Although I have to say that the drinks in the hotel are fairly expensive).
The room that we moved to was exactly as it should have been - a "Superior Sea View Room with Terrace" Although due to interconnecting doors - and with noise and constant disturbance during the night (babies in the next room) and early morning (running around and screaming in corridors whilst parents left bedroom doors open) from the under 5's - sleep is virtually impossible.
The hotel is extremely child orientated (and this was not peak season) although and there is an 'adults only' infinity pool next to the spa which is beautiful and very relaxing (although all the pools are very cold). There are only c15 Double sun loungers available...thankfully we went in a quieter period, as during peak times - I think that you would possibly have to be up very early to get a bed, if you want some rest during the day away from the screaming! The hotel itself really is lovely and this is why we would possibly consider returning...although we would be clarify our room in advance. The immediate area isn't great...lots of neon and noise! Although there are a good mix of cafe bars along the Harbour front. An excellent restaurant is Artio - the food, ambience and service is fantastic - we booked this for our birthday night as a special occasion. We didn't eat in the hotel as we like to enjoy a quiet meal in the evenings and we felt that this wouldn't have been the case!...All in all not a bad stay - just fairly exhuasting!

The hotel is as mentioned by others, beautifully refurbished, stylish, has fabulous staff BUT if crying children all over the place are not your thing then steer clear!

The rooms are lovely, we had a sea-view with balcony (Aethon)and could chill out and watch the sun set over Pafos every evening. The room was really spacious and had a great modern bathroom (no bath) and everything you'd expect from a refurbed `boutique' style hotel.

The bars and restaurants were excellent and the service was exemplary, however we tried to avoid eating at the hotel simply because of the large number of children around. We don't object to paying high prices for quality, but we do object when the ambience is shattered by children crying at the next table, and the parents do nothing. This happened to us at breakfast, lunch and dinner in the hotel and as a result we spent most of our time dining out, which was a shame.

In the same way we didn't spend any time at all at the main pool (which looked lovely) because it was taken over by families every day. We did spend time at the new spa with its infinity pool and gym, it looks spectacular and again the service was excellent. It does tend to get quite busy though with all the childless couples fleeing the main hotel.

The hotel is clearly trying to cater for both families and couples seeking peace and relaxation but am not sure that it is going to be able to do so, and should probably make a decision to pursue one market or the other.

The only other niggle was the slight feeling that the hotel is pursuing an out and out policy to extract maximum money from you for everything. There are no tea and coffee making facilities in your room thus ensuring you pay about 4 euros each time you want a tea or coffee; for a late check out the hotel charges half the rack rate for your room so for us to keep the room for four hours would have been about 180 euros; and finally when the cocktail I wanted was not available they suggested another one which they then charged at double the price of my first choice.

In summary, although a beautiful hotel with great rooms and facilities, we probably wouldn't return to the Almyra, although we would recommend it to friends with children.

We stayed at the Almyra for 2 weeks and were married there during our holiday. We just loved it, the hotel is so stylish and the grounds are just beautiful. The new spa is fabulous too with the infinity pool and deli. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone - the service was great, we had some lovely meals there, although the food wasn't cheap at all we were always pleased with what we were served and you could see what you were paying for. Breakfast was lovely too with a huge choice of foods.
We will definitely be returning ASAP!
