I booked a spa break at Almyra for a week. The staff and food were great - had the half board package - the service was really good and the therapists in the spa were fantastic - one of the best spas I've been to.

The spa and infinity pool area - Eauzone - is really lovely and a child free zone so its peaceful - they serve healthy food and salads there, although its a shame it wasn't open in the evenings - would be perfect place for spa breakers to eat in peace.

The restaurant down by the beach serves great food a la carte, and this is accompanied by live music - which may not be to everyone's taste - you can also hear this all evening from some of the Superior Sea View Rooms.

Whilst the hotel advertises itself as child friendly and for spa breaks, the only thing I think would make it better for those booking relaxing spa breaks is an adult only eating space.

Some of the children were very noisy and running round in the restaurant in the evening, so we asked if we could eat elsewhere in the hotel and they were good enough to accommodate this. The duty manager was very helpful and we suggested that an adult only eating area for the evening would make the Almyra a perfect place for a spa break.

Room Tip: Superior Sea View rooms are worth the extra euros compared with the garden rooms - although only dow...

We are currently at the Almyra for a week long stay with our infant. Given that this is our first family holiday with the baby, we were understandably nervous about whether the hotel would be ok for a first time family trip. However, we are amazed at how child friendly the hotel is. Everything you need for the baby is provided in the room, free of charge (cot, jumper, bathtub, steriliser, etc).

The service is top notch throughout the hotel, and the facilities are beautiful. it is essential to book a sea view room as I understand the inland facing rooms are both noisy and dark.

The food is quite good, not quite the standard of a 5 star hotel in Asia for example, but we could always find things to eat. I would suggest less mayonnaise in all the salads !! and some more salad/healthy options. The desserts look tempting, but they are slightly disappointing.

All in all, a great place for a family holiday, if they had better food, we would be back year after year.

My experience is exactly the same as that of SimoneinLondon. It is definately on the expensive side for what you get. We stayed with our 2 year old in a noisy road ruined Garden View Room (read the small print, no balcony which is unbelievable in a 5*). Rooms are run down and basic. The grounds are relatively atractive but too many steep stone steps to allow you to relax with a child running about. Beach is really dire. Food and drinks are well prepared but too expensive. The only redeeming element of the hotel is the staff - restaurant and pool service were brilliant and very genuine, and that may keep the service keen adults sans kids coming back, but but not us. Oh, we did have a nice barbecue on the lawns (at additional cost to half board). One pedantic gripe the atttitude of this place up - being told I was to be charged 15 euros if I remove my minibar bottled drinks, quoting "health and safety reasons" (what cr*p, you are telling me a bottle of overpriced Coke will go-off?) and to confound matters I took them out in a vain attempt to chill some water I dared to bring in from "the outside" beause the A/C doesnt work in the room. Sorry people of Paphos, but I didnt rate the town much either compared to other Med locations. I think we were spoilt by the beauty of culture of Lindos on Rhodes, for example.

Room Tip: Avoid the Garden View Room if they havent fixed the A/C as you'll be disrupted by road noise if...

We stayed at the hotel for 3 days (2 nights) and enjoyed every minute of it! We arrived at the hotel and we were welcomed by very helpful and pleasant reception and lobby staff. So were restautant, housekeeping and pool staff. The lobby of the hotel offers a panoramic view of Paphos castle (impressive, especially at night time), where one can relax and have a coffee / sweet. Rooms are spacious and room service very good. One can take a walk to Paphos castle; it is only 10 minutes walk away. Although the beach is right in front of the hotel, swimming there is not very appealing. Coral Bay is only 30 minutes away and a much better place to swim (especially for kids). Kids activities are average, unless one prefers to pay extra for kids to be 'looked after'. Not a top class boutique hotel, but we had a relaxing weekend and we look forward to visiting the hotel again!

Having just returned from a week at the Almyra we wish we were still there. Location and hotel styling are perfect, food was the best we've experienced abroad-quality and choice was five star. Staff are extremely helpful and leave guests to do as they please but are never far away if you need anything.

The criticisms which follow shouldn't put anyone off but are worth knowing:

Extra charges if you want tea and coffee facilities, surely a five star hotel can provide this basic home comfort;

You can't use the fridge in the rooms because of the minibar and the rules preventing removal of items from it;

We enjoy good quality drinks but the price for even a standard bottle of still water is over-inflated never mind the champagne or cocktails!

There is air-conditioning in the rooms, however it's not the best.

Not many negatives but take extra Euro's!

Let's start with the "positives" of the hotel.

1. Restaurant staff amazing within the main restaurant and pool bar....... pool attendant lovely and the hotel would be lost without them!
2. Beautiful boutique (very overpriced though)
3. Excellent crèche albeit you have to pay for it

Moving on to the negatives.

1. I emailed the hotel before arriving to express my concerns from other's re the noise of the road, I was advised I could upgrade to a sea view room at the cost of €152 per night!!!!!

2. On arrival at the hotel I mentioned to my husband that we could have a night cap, we were told the bar was closed...... not even a cup of tea offered! Most people were given a glass of water as the “welcome drink”…………………….

3. The beach is awful and not child friendly or adult friendly come to that (stony and you can't get in the sea), beach also littered with cigarette butts! Massive, deep steps down to the beach that a child or older person would struggle to use.

4. Noise from road awful, cars speeding past early hours of the morning

5. Fridge is a cooler not a fridge we were told.

6. AC in any of the rooms is in adequate and everybody said the same (certainly not cold).

7. Rooms standard, towels not always replaced....

8. Bathrooms awful, dangerous as water from the shower just covers the floor (bathrooms very old)

9. Food and drinks way over priced

10. Rooms noisy, had to complain to reception about a fellow guests TV blasting out at 2am

11. NO evening entertainment for children or adults, a child friendly hotel needs child entertainment - singers each night by Notios restaurant (pretty dire to be honest)....

Toilets down by the beach, why are there no toilets around the pool area? The shower needs to be changed to toilets to accommodate infants and adults.

My husband and I took our 3 year old son to the Almyra for days, weather and guests great - without that the holiday could have easily been a disaster. It was his birthday whilst we were there and yes they made him a cake and gave him a small teddy but I guess I was hoping that they would of really made a fuss of him, but maybe that’s just me being a mum …..

This hotel and the management team need to act fast or the hotel will not survive, no good receiving responses and apologies once you are back home - the hotel needs to resolve issues onsite.

Last year we went to the Sani Resort (this place is amazing, I wish I had gone back there but we will be going there later this year), I definitely won’t be returning to the Almyra or Paphos..... http://www.saniholidays.com/

Room Tip: Only go if you can pay for a seaview or they take upon themselves to upgrade people when the hotel i...

We are in Almyra right now, It's our last day visit. Normalwise we stay for business and pleasure at luxury hotels like Starwood, Hilton, Marriott and now and then the Ritz, only due to the fact we have less sparetime, therefore we have a higher hospitality demand to charge our personal 'battery'. We are pleased to meet the absolute friendly staff which - when i was f.i. Hilton - recruit them directly. This Staff at the Almyra makes you feel a reel guest. From the lobby, poolguy, restaurant and housekeeping. They work very hard in a way we don't often see in other hotels. What wonders us is that there are almost no Cyprians working in the hotel and if you do speak them they complain about the economic situation (as if they are not -a part of - The Problem right). An other Cypriothic issue, one of the - and we think it's 'a' slim F&B mngr - is very grumpy and not only to his staff which brings me directly to an another issue, where's the management? Are they not interested in their guests or only Excell sheets? Even Paris Hilton visits their hotels in promotional way but even when it looks not, they know what happens on the floor in these environments.

Ok, the room. Was fine, due to excellent roomservice. Hope the management reward them well, and although we miss some things like a cooker but who cares, we have a nice bar with seaview. What's not so fine is that we have being placed in a more noisy garden room. Heard later it was a cheaper one, hmm. However our 'alarmclock' is now 3 nights repeatedly approx 5h am from crying children which wonders us why people with children are not separated from people without children, just like the pool formula as you can see on their website. Our room seems to be not to rest but to stay over. It's more quiet in the airport lounge, we can say that.
Internet connection in this area is bad. That could be solved for 100 euro's make it guests more convenient on this part of the hotel. Topcooling works OK.
Bathroom has no power option for woman using a hairdryer. Huge mirror is full of damp, this issue can be solved simply, so management get to work.

The food. That's Ritz Berlin quality. In this week it was excellent and together with the operating staff a good formula. By the way, where's the management? There's an another man which obviously give orders to his staff but saying hello to his guests seems to be a problem? Who's paying his fee? Management is also staff.

The hotel. A bit outdated but it seems they do their best to fix things. Hey it's a holliday environment, so&so. Some flowers at the entrance would help in my oppinion. Doorman are always friendly and polite! The hotel is clean and in order. No malfunctions noticed, public toilet is too dark and need a bit more fresh air.
There's one shop with overprised clothes. 100% more expensive than in the Netherlands. Euh where can i get a newspaper or chewing gum or Almyra promotional stuff?

Although there's a high number children envolved, their obviously nothing to do for them. Yes there's some space for them but the their playground is the restaurant (chasing cats or dancing in the curtains) in the evening and daily at the swimming pool and early in the morning the rooms and hallway. I know it's also a parential problem.

Ofcourse we talked to other guests with and without children; if the management wants a better customer retention use in my opinion the oldest sales strategy Listen & Observe.

Do we need to say more?

Room Tip: Ask before booking for facilities because the Almyra website tells something else than reality. 1st...
