“Well beyond our expectation.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2012

Booked at a bargain price off season, through Secret Escapes, we doubted if the Almyra and Paphos could possibly be a good place to stay. It certainly is, even in December, when the Cyprus climate is balmy, but changeable with occasional squalls of rain. It's far warmer than in London, often hot enough to sunbathe if not to swim (some intrepid folks did!). We found it a perfect time to wander around almost on our own in the archaeological park, only 20 minutes stroll from the hotel, seeing the beautiful Roman mosaics among ancient remains. The Almyra is a great hotel, where you can relax and simply enjoy yourself. If you can afford it, choose a superior seaside room, as the view is breathtaking. The Almyra does a magnificent job, providing a huge variety of buffet dishes for every meal. What's more, you can avoid putting on weight, if you go for salads and gorgeous vegetable dishes. Staff are friendly and helpful, if slightly chaotic at time. Everyone is eager to please and quick to put matters right if you have cause to complain. As for the Paphos cats, they're divine! Supposedly feral, thanks to some local English women, they're neutered, fed and affectionate. We'll be back to stroke them soon!

Room Tip: Go for a sea-side room, as the garden-facing rooms are supposed to be noisy.

We stayed at the Almyra for two weeks in November and enjoyed it immensely. We were very taken by the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. The quality and huge selection of food available at mealtimes could not be faulted and being able to sit outside for breakfast and lunch was extremely enjoyable. The Almyra location is excellent with lovely sea views and a very pleasant stroll to the shops and harbour area. We found the Hotel and surrounding area very clean and tidy. We highly recommend the Almyra and will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Our 4th floor room had an excellent sea view.

The Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful ,the dining room staff efficient and courteous ,the food amazing .The spa area with the gym sauna , steam room ,indoor pool and outdoor pool was very quiet and soo relaxing ,every where was clean and even after a storm the outside areas were cleaned very quickly. Would go a little earlier in the year next time as the weather was a bit mixed but no complaints at all definitely recommend it.
Well done Almyra

We stayed for 7 nights in the final week of November.

The location of the hotel is perfect, on the shores edge and less than 10 minute walk to the harbour. We stayed in a Superior Sea View room on a full-board basis, the room was lovely the sea view was just wonderful.

Room: Nice size, sea view wonderful, easy access

Food: Breakfast everything you good ask for. Evening Meals, the cold buffet (salads, pulses) were faultless however the hot food was under-whelming even with the various theme nights, we did leave feedback on the opinion cards
.
Location: The hotel is a short walk from the harbor where you can find bars and restuarants, who will provde a decent choice of local cuisine. Be careful though some of these are just offering processed food rather fresh cooked to order type
.
Things to: Hire a 4-wheel drive, we payed 100 Euros for 4 days fully insured it always worth negotiating. Travel up the east coast and if you're feeling adventerous then take one of the E or F roads through the mountains be warned these are un-made roads. Other trips of note, Troodos mountains, Tombs of the Kings, Kourion, Polis and Paphos covered market

Staff: The Almyra has a great team working for them, they were always friendly and on hand to help out. Special thanks to Elena !

If you are looking for an off season location then this is the place for you,

the staff was very kind and helpfull. we asked for a late check out and they arranged it in minutes.
breakfast was very tasty and the waiters were very professionals. the hotel feels more of a summer hotel.

This hotel was a trîumph. Excellent service from all staff without fail. Really good chefs presenting a wonderful range of quality food. This place is a must for a winter break when Cyprus is that bit quiter. My wife and I cannot recommend this place enough.
Go for it.

refer to CityGent's review 13/11, in my opinion a review that reflected our views & experiences. What I would like to add-
*2 x couples, we did struggle with garden view rooms due to noise from the road, especially at weekends and resorted to ear plugs. We discussed this with management, consideration has been given to double glazing, I feel this is a must. Do upgrade at time of booking- we were quoted 55 euros per night per room during our stay.
*Food was excellent, to avoid the "samey" feeling be disciplined and just have one main dish so flavours do not merge. Ashleigh, head chef made several appearances in the restaurant area and was keen to talk to guests. He quickly resolved an issue for us concerning a departure lunch , many thanks. We did eat at the Annabelle, although the outside dining was enjoyable, we felt the Alymra had the edge as we did a cheeky inspection of the same dinner on return as they run the same menus. We also ate at Ouzeri a couple of times- wonderful. Other dining options are more limited in low season.
*Just to add to to CityGent's staff mention- Helena, Soritos, Myria at the Spa, the cocktail doulble act 20/11. I do apologise for any spelling errors! (reception staff not so helpful)
*Finally, this was the first hotel to be built in Pafos- that is why in my opinion it has the best plot, extensive grounds where you have so much choice where to place your towel. Take a dip in the public beach just lhs sea facing.
Enjoy

Room Tip: sea view until garden view rooms have double glazing
