“A Lovely holiday in the Almyra Hotel Pafos”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2012

We have just returned from a 10 day stay in The Almyra Hotel, Pafos. The Hotel was recommended to by some friends and I can see why, our seaview room offered us beautiful views across the bay and harbour. With a beach at your doorstep plus long walks along the beach road. The small taverna attached to the hotel offered a wide range of good quality food ideal for lunch and evening. The staff there and at the hotel could not do enough for you. The only thing we found annoying was there were not enough sunbeds available and one needed to get up early in order to get one well placed. However, again the staff were very helpful when needed. We would recommend the hotel certainly. Maybe just one more point to make. We found it very child friendly which is wonderful if you have small children which we don't !!

Room Tip: A sea view room is essential here, probably worth paying a little more for.

What a fabulous hotel!!
From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty by all the staff.
We were celebrating our Silver Wedding anniversary and were delighted to be upgraded on our arrival to a Kyma suite with a gorgeous cake waiting for us in the room. The room and the view were outstanding, with our own sunbeds, sun umbrella and roof terrrace. It was very hot while we were there but the air-conditioning worked perfectly and was extremely quiet.
We were staying on a half board basis and although it didnt look like there was much choice in the buffet restaurant we never struggled to find something we fancied. The quality of the food was excellent and ambience of the eating was superb. ..Candles hanging from the tree with views over the pool area and the sea.
We ate at the a la carte restaurant one night and although it was expensive it was one of the best meals we have ever had, with lovely views over the sea to the harbour.
Ok gush over .....
It is a fantastic hotel, and I highly recommend it ... we will be back.

Room Tip: If you can afford a Kyma suite you wont be disappointed, otherwise a sea view room is not to missed.

We booked the kymma suites at Almyra for 4 nights with two children. The room was spacious and clean and the view was astonishing! The pool is perfect for children because it is covered peventing the sun to disturb them. We will stay again at Almyra!

We just came back from a week at the Almyra hotel. It was fabulous great food, great facilities and the best service I have ever had. The hotel staff were so helpful and attentive it really made our holiday. The pool was great but it also had a small beach front so you had the best of both worlds. It seemed to be the only hotel with a real beach in that area. The spa was also great with an adult only pool. Big thank you to everyone at the almyra great holiday we will definitely be back !

Room Tip: Sea view room if you can get it was lovely great sunset view

Just returned from 7 days holiday at the Almyra. The rooms with sea view should be recommended as you can see in the distance the old castle in Paphos harbor, especially in the afternoon and at night. Food is of a very high standard with staff who are not only attentive but seemed please to look after you and meet your needs. The bedrooms furnished in a contemporary style are spacious and maintained to a high standard with more than ampler supply of shower gels etc.Generally the facilities are very good with plenty of sunbeds and beach towels supplied fresh to your room each day. The whole site is kept clean and tidy again by very keen staff.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms recommended

We have just returned from 9 days at the Almyra and having read all the reviews on here we had high expectations and a good idea of what to expect. We were not disappointed; the hotel is very good, the staff are excellent. We had also never been to Cyprus before and were really hoping to find a wide selection of good seafood restaurants. We tried really hard and couldn’t find them and for that reason we highly recommend eating at Ouziri and grab the catch of the day. It’s not cheap but it seems that the day of good value local seafood restaurants no do not exist in Paphos. (not sure they exist in the UK either)
The food is consistently good in all of the hotel restaurants and if you are going half board, the buffet is excellent, and really good value for money.
The only let down for us is the availability of pool side beds. Guests arrive early plant their towels and run off for breakfast making sure they are back in 40 mins as the hotel have a policy of removing towels if left vacant for longer. We think this should be scrapped completely. And at the same time make more pool side beds available.
We would really recommend this hotel to families
Top tip the local car hire agents close to the hotel only do a minimum 3 day hire. We found it cheaper for a the hotel to book a single day

Room Tip: the sea view rooms are worth paying more for if you have the budget

My wife and I booked a week at the Almyra as our honeymoon after many hours of scrolling through all the different hotels that Paphos has to offer. We are both so glad that we chose this one.

Being our first trip abroad together and neither of us being a fan of excessive heat we thought that Cyprus would be getting cooler by September. How wrong were we?! I wasn't expecting the 33/35 every day. Even at the dead of night with the sun having been down a few hours, it still didnt drop below 23. Thankfully the hotey have l is air-conditioned throughout so cooling off in your room or the lobby great.

Rooms - The beds are (estimation - 5' x 6') king size and in my opinion, very comfortable. They have a 32'' tv with connection for USB so I would advise taking music/videos on a stick to play while in the room as the only tv channels in English are the news channels. Bathroom was modern with a very nice shower. Wi-fi is available and from our iPad/iPhones we were able to stay connected pretty much anywhere with in the hotel grounds. Women need not carry a hairdryer or iron with you as these are supplied.

Food/Restaurants/Bars - We booked Bed & Breakfast and got upgraded to Half Board through our travel agent. Breakfast was the same everyday but the selection is so vast you can easily have something different everyday of the week. Evening meals are based on themes from around the world ie Italian, Local, Carvery, Asian. As a not very fussy eater, I found the food nice (somethings a little strange admittedly) but for my wife, she found certain flavours were not the same as we get at home so wasn't as keen. We were told that we could also use the facilities at the neighbouring/sister hotel for dining and their swimming pools also.
One thing that aren't cheap are the drinks at the hotel 5euros for a 500ml of lager i thought was a little steep! Although the bar staff are happy to wait on you hand a foot. I was ordered to sit down until a waiter came and took my order even for a beer ,bearing in mind I was already at the bar and wanted to get out of the sun. Always polite and ready to help, the staff of the hotel really do add to the experience.
You can also eat at the 2 other dining areas within the hotel (poolside bar and sea-side taverna) but i cannot comment on either of these as we ate at neither.
Happy hour cocktails (2 for 8 Euros) served i the lobby are not to be missed though. The Rainbow goes down a treat. 3 in an hour wasnt a good idea!!

Entertainment - Very little within the grounds of the hotel but as its literally 5 mins walk from the harbour and bar street means you are close enough without being in the thick of things. We tried to fill our days with activities rather than spending every day sun bathing. 4x4 quad adventure was a great half day experience although I feel a little pricey at £55 each. We booked a half day boat cruise with a meal and all inclusive drinks for £32 each and a day at the waterpark in Limassol (1hour and quarter coach trip) for £28 each. Watersports are also available on the jetty literally 50 yards from the hotel.
The spa looked a very nice area (adults only) but we found it a little quiet up there for our liking. The people who were down there seemed happy keeping themselves to themselves. This was the only place that I have a grumble about for my whole time at the hotel. I was asked by a waitress not to bring my own water bought from the local supermarket (9litres for 2Euros) and that I had to purchase theirs at 3.5Euros for 500ml!!
This got my back up a little so I didnt spend much time down there after that. They did let us use the facilities there on the day we travelled home as we had to check out at 10am.

Buses/Taxi - We didnt book transfers through the travel agents as they seemed quite pricey and I had researched prices to Paphos from the airport (30Euros max), this meant we also didnt have to sit on a bus going round and round the town before they finally arrive at your hotel! Buses run right through the day and night for 1Euro single or 3Euro all day ticket. This is how we got back to the airport from the hotel as the stop is just over the road and worked a hell of a lot cheaper than a taxi.

Overall - I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing break. Not the ideal place for children as there are little or no activities/kids club. As I said previously the staff really did add to the experience. Absolutely faultless and would do anything to help.I would definately like to stay there again in the future, maybe for a anniversary.
