A stylish hotel but this is most definitely a place for people with young children - the walls between the rooms are paper thin hence v noisy - food was good with good choice. premium prices for drinks etc though. Sadly, won't return.

Room Tip: For people with young children

Dear Guest,

thank you for your comments on TripAdvisor. We welcome any feedback, although if we had known during your stay, we may have been able to do more.

Thank you for staying with us and please accept our apologies for not reaching your expectations. Almyra is a family friendly hotel, but we also created in 2008 a wing for Adults only. Our AETHON rooms, are especially designed for couples, on a separate wing and we would encourage guests travelling without children to request one of them.

We would welcome the opportunity to change your opinion about Almyra, so please feel free to contact us directly on guests.almyra@thanoshotels.com.

Thank you

The Almyra was recommended to us as an excellent option for young children. Our little one is 17 months old and the baby go lightly idea sounded perfect. On arrival the service was excellent and the checking in very quick and easy. However, the room we had booked was very small with a cot and all the things you need around to occupy a baby, so we ended up moving rooms to a one bedroom suite. Much better, but much more expensive, although we did end up paying just half of the orginal cost they quoted to upgrade, so don't be afraid to negotiate! The hotel is lovely, but very modern, so if you prefer a traditional style of luxury, go the Annabelle next door. The outdoor pool was very cold - it was meant to be heated but because there weren't many guests we were told it wasn't worth putting the heating on, as very few guests were using the pool. We countered that it's because it was too cold, but as our baby wanted to go in, my husband braved it every day. It was early season, but I have to say, we did feel a little like there wasn't much happening in the hotel - the bar was dead every evening and there was little in the way of an atmosphere, so again, if you prefer a 'buzz' don't go early season. The other issue for us that the lifts were very small and we only just got in with the pushchair - not so child friendly. And whilst the baby go lightly service was convenient, you pay the price - the nappies and wipes etc had a 50% mark up on the supermarket prices, so my advice is book the things you can't take/buy there and go to the supermarket a few minutes away from the hotel for the toiletries, nappies and milk etc. You'll pay a lot less!! The toiletires provided were full size, so you are charged a lot for them and then don't want to pack them to take home, given that's the whole point of the service. We left them and it was a waste really.
Food etc was very good, although the toddler meals were a little dry for our child's taste, so only used when we had to. All in all, a nice hotel, wtih just a few tweaks required to make it excellent for families.

Room Tip: Don't use the baby go lightly service

My wife and I stayed at this hotel as part of our honeymoon in March 2011. The manager Mr. Stelios was extremely good and upgraded us to a sea view room in the sister hotel Anabelle which was next door.
However I must admit that though the Almyra is a new hotel we preferred the Anabelle for many reasons. Please dont get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the Almyra, it was just that we like the more traditional look of a hotel than a contemporary chic boutique style.
We were also given a complimentary bottle of bubbly and white wine.
The breakfast was good and sumptuous. The restaurants however were expensive.
The hotel has an excellent location (a short walk) near the many nice restaurants in the tourist area (harbour). The fact remains that one can drive to the many lovely small taverns and restaurants outside the town, but when it gets to 7 pm and after a long day of doing what one does to relax, it is the nearby restaurants which appeal to me the most. They are a definitely a bit more expensive, but there are some hidden gems in and around.
Namely: Porto Bello (the italian, we visited 4 times in 7 days), the seagull restaurant (once), Chloes chinese (once).
Food was excellent in all the places. But Porto bello absolutely amazed us.
The Anabelle's swimming pools were nice but a bit cold for the time of the year, so what did we do, walked across to the temp controlled swimming pool of the state of the art spa in the Almyra next door.
We hired a car and travelled to near by villages and saw some amazing sights and views.
All in all an excellent experience.

The Almyra was faultless. Our room was a good size, clean and with a spacious bathroom. The hotel staff were helpful and polite and spoke perfect English. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast buffet was superb. A good variety of fresh fruit, pastries, bread, freshly cooked eggs, etc. The pool area was spacious and clean. I can well recommend the Spa.
We found plenty of good and reasonably priced restaurants nearby, especially the Romantica, further along Poseidonos Ave, and the Mandra Taverna in town which offered an excellent meze.

Slightly confused about some of the negative reviews. I cannot fault this hotel in any way. From the moment we arrived, we were invited to just leave the car and the suitcases for them to sort out, when checking in, we were told we had been upgraded from superior to junior sea view, absolutely gorgeous room, spacious, great view, clean, modern, great toiletries. In conversation, I mentioned it was our wedding anniversary and when we got back that night we found a lovely 'happy anniversary' cake in our room. Service was just wonderful, it felt like everyone was very proud to work in that hotel. Breakfast, very good, enough choices, just brilliant. The decor of the restaurant and in general, is fantastic, very sophisticated.

One of our main worries when going to Cyprus was to end up in a 'party' area/hotel,we are not old but we weren't looking for hen parties or clubbers, nothing against it, just not our style. This was the perfect choice. Perhaps in summer or when it gets busier, things change a little but I can't say we were disturbed by noise or had any trouble at all. Yes this hotel it's slightly more expensive than others but we felt it was worth every penny and would go again right now if given the chance. We tried the spa, the room we had the treatment in was so perfect, lovely view, so peaceful.

We had the perfect anniversary break so THANK YOU very very much.

So this is supposed to be one of the best hotels one the island and it is indeed very beautiful with amazing decor. However, although i had been warned about a club under the inland rooms which kept residents awake all night, i decided to try it out. I was glad to find i had a sea view room, thinking i would not have the music keeping me awake, but instead at all times of the day and night i could hear everything going on in the ajoining rooms, the hall way and even the kids screaming and crying in the rooms oposite. Just to give u an idea of how bad this was, i heard a whole telephone conversation and even someone peeing (even in the afternoon when u think it woukd be quieter).
Would not stay there again or recommend this until they find some way of sound proofing their rooms.

My adult daughter and I were looking forward so much to our Alymra visit when to my horror I was struck down with a severe back injury several weeks before we were due to go! However after an injection into the problem area I dared to travel and boy was I glad. We had such a great relaxing holiday. We chose a seaview superior room and it felt lovely to sit on the balcony watching the sunset before trotting down to one of the delicious restaurants. The spa pool set up is wonderful, luxurious, cool and so comfortable. As I was initially so restricted in movement lying about on the generous sunbeds was just what the doctor ordered - literally! I slipped into the pool often and when I'd eaten my fill on the spa menu the hotel kindly delivered other restaurant choices to my table! Sitting on the terrace having breakfast was a joy and we were so well looked after. The contemporary style is chilled, full of fresh flowers which adds to the sense of peace and tranquillity while the family atmosphere with babies and children is warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for the bright staff and a slightly disappointing manicure was immediately removed from my bill. The boutique had some fabulous pieces and shoes that made their way into our luggage! We shall be back soon but this time with our newly born grand daughter to walk along the promenade and to enjoy eating at the seafront cafes.
