Booked the hotel directly through Platinum Card and got a 10% off the price.

Hotel magnifficent as always.

Check in while having a welcome drink. I booked two rooms for the celebration of my sons 1st birthday.

We were showned to our rooms. Spacy large rooms with welcome wine and desert. View however very very dissappointed. I knew it however that the view was not nice but the price for upgrade was 50 eur therefore I decided not to spend it for one day stay.

After a while. The room service brought us a hotel bithday cake custom made for our son (excellent taste) and a bottle of champagne. IT WAS PURRRRFECT! A custom made card with birthday wished and a card for us welcome back.

Bathroom was very clean with sleepers and bathrobe, and luxury amenities. There was also a pillow menu that I saw next morning (sadly)

We took a tour again at the hotel taking some pictures and played at the kids garden

The hotel was maybe half full with tourists mainly Russian and weather was excellent. There were even few doing some sunbathing in the clean enormous swimming pool.

Breakfast was again exquisite with selection of nearly everything and high quality. I even got my morning coffee as I drink it at home, iced cold!

Late check out was done at 14:00 with no further charge.

Elysium is maybe the most luxurius in Paphos... if you afford that bit of luxury :-)

Elysium looks fabulous. The lobby, car area, restaurants and rooms are all amazing in design, cleanliness etc. Staff very helpful and polite. It's a great hotel in almost all ways.

problems:

1. no free WiFi internet even in lobby - unlike other 5star hotels in the area

2. no tea / coffee in room - very odd for a hotel!

3. the gym has old equipment and had the air con turned off - so not a whole lot of use.

  • Liked — Design & decor, and hotel bar service
  • Disliked — No free internet or WiFi !

A few rooms have concrete wall fronting balcony which restricts outlook..Zero points for the architect !.But many have a railing which is better.
If you have inland view then :
a) some traffic noise from busy road about 500 yards away still audible with patio doors closed
b)avoid rooms overlooking tennis court. If used after dusk halogen lights fire straight at you.I then found balcony unusable
We booked half board with Sovereign which includes evening buffet at one restaurant with quite good selection.I enquired at Reception if we could eat at other restaurants and was told" yes".I was not told that I would have to pay the full cost of the meal..well over £100 for 2 persons . Surely there should be a credit for what had already been paid !
Price of wine and other drinks is extortionate in all bars
On the bright side all staff were excellent friendly and helpful All rooms seem to be spacious and very good
There is a very pleasant pedestrian walk to Paphos harbour...35 or so mins
I know it`s 5 star but wouldn`t go again

The Elysium almost lives up to it's billing as a five star luxury hotel.
First the good: The reception and all public areas are beautiful - very clean (even fallen petals are speedily swept away!) and well finished and maintained (no scuffs on walls etc). Breakfast was excellent with a huge choice (smoked salmon, champagne and grilled Halloumi being particular faves!). The staff are all very attentive but not overbearing, and seem genuinely interested in their guests, not just asking about their day out of politeness. The hotel grounds are amazing - so many areas to explore that even though it's a large hotel we never felt crowded. On our second night there was a champagne reception on the terrace where we were plied with champagne, canapes and sushi - very nice! The rooms are also very clean with an optional daily linen and towel change, and there's an evening turndown and complimentary red wine and fruit on arrival. We were switched to half board halfway through our stay and ate at the buffet restaurant, and never left there feeling remotely hungry!
Now the not so good: My biggest problem (and this may make me unpopular) was the amount of young children staying. We had booked for a quiet "grown up" holiday, and had perhaps expected (from the five star luxury description) something a little less child-filled. It didn't really strike me as an appropriate place to take very young children (soft drinks at about five euros each!), and the noise and children running about spoiled things for us a little. Now the rooms - I would advise paying for side sea or a sea view .We had a standard room which overlooked waste ground and the neon signs of the Tomb of the Kings road. The room, while very clean and well maintained was not quite as swish as i'd expected from five star. We actually moved rooms after 3 nights- beware of rooms overlooking the tennis courts as they are above the bar which has live music past midnight six nights a week. It was like sleeping above a nightclub. We were moved further along the same wing and had a nice view of some lorries in a field. Pay for the better view! The hotel's location is pretty bad too - a two minute walk from the hotel is the Tomb of the Kings road with delightful sounding restaurants like Willys Rib Ranch, karaoke bars, places doing all-day-breakfast for 4.50 euros and also dubious "cabaret" bars (we all know what that means!). Paphos is a little bit "Brits abroad" and it's a shame as the hotel itself really is fantastic and is let down by it's location.
Despite the above niggles the hotel IS worth five stars in this review as it was pretty special and we had a great time and were made to feel very welcome. We don't tend to return to places year after year but if we did visit Cyprus again I would definitely return.

We stayed at the Elysium during half term break, trying to get some sun before the winter set in at home (UK). Arrived at the hotel and were greeted with a cocktail and a smile.
This is a lovely hotel that has been open about six years. It is very palacial with lots of cool marble and airy space. The rooms are of good quality and space and were clean and well appointed.
Outside is a large pool area which has been imaginatively designed with a pool bar, seating area and loungers. There is also a large lawn area overlooking the sea with plenty of sun beds. In addition there is a small beach with decking.
There are about five restaurants (assuming we found them all !) which serve excellent food but it is not cheap to eat there if you are on B & B (Paphos offers enough alternative eating establishments of good quality for this not to be a problem). Breakfasts are especially enjoyable sitting outside in the Lemonia terrace. Although this is quite a large hotel with about 250 rooms, don't be put off by this as there is ample space.
By far the best element of this hotel is the staff. They were, as far as we were concerned, faultless. They are cheerful, attentive without being pushy and nothing is too much trouble. The owners of this hotel should be proud of them.
I cannot think of anything negative to say about this establishment , we had a really enjoyable stay.

Got to be one of the best Mediterranean hotels out there

Raves:

Never commented on how a hotel smells before but the fragrances that come from all the plants is fantastic, especially in the evening

Most of the staff were exceptional, especially the crazy omlette chef "salt, pepper, origano"

Fantastic restaurant just up the road called Il Duomo offering thesame high standard of food at a fraction of the price

Both the exterior and interior layout has been very well done

Rants:

FREEZING POOLS: I've stayed there in the Summer when the scortching sun is able to heat up the pools but there is no effective heating of any of the pools around October time

EXPENSIVE WIFI: this hotel needs to get with the times and stop pinching the pennies by charging for WIFI.

THE BEACH: A great opportunity wasted, push the black sand into the sea to make it more shallow and dump tonnes of soft white sand on top to transform it into the best beach in Cyprus

We spent a week in the hotel last month, and were very pleasantly surprised. Spacious and well appointed accommodation, beautiful public areas and pleasant grounds. Even though the hotel was full the only time it seemed busy was at breakfast. All the staff we dealt with were professional and courteous.

The only thing we didn't like was the location, but we expected that before we went; we prefer to stay near the harbour in Paphos.

  • Liked — Nice room, lots of very attractive public areas
