When we booked the Panaretti for 10 days in mid February, we did wonder what we were going to get. It was very cheap (around €20 per night) so we were not expecting the Savoy or the Ritz.
We were a bit concerned after reading some Tripadvisor reviews but overall, we were pleasantly surprised by what we were given.
We got a one bedroom apartment that was roomy but could do with a lick of paint. Our room was clean, everything in the kitchenette worked fine and a bathroom that was adequate. We had a balcony facing the sea which was an added bonus. We also had tv (though just one English channel) as well as a cd/radio stack in the room as well as air conditioning.
Wifi was also available but just in the reception area.
The room was cleaned daily and towels and bedding changed every 4 days although we actually got 3 changes during our 10 day stay.
The pool and sun loungers were clean and well used by residents and we had no complaints on that front.
We were also given a voucher for a 1/2 price evening meal in the restaurant. The food was ok but not the best we had on our holidays. We didn't use the bar as they only had the same channels as in the rooms so if you wanted to watch football, you had to go to an outside bar.
There are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby but they are not all open out of season.
The staff on reception were very pleasant and are to be commended for their very friendly and helpful manner.
Overall, the place needs a revamp as it is looking very tired and things like the towels could do with replacing but we were very happy with our deal. The location is a very nice 20 minute walk from Paphos Harbour along the beach or you can take a €1.5 bus trip into town.
If you are after a cheap place to stay, then the Panaretti is fine but if you want luxury, I suggest you go somewhere else.
One thing that potential visitors to Paphos should be aware of if they are staying in and around Paphos town centre. Taxi drivers at the airport will try to rip you off by charging between €30 and €50 for a 20 minute trip into Paphos. If you don't mind slumming it, there is an hourly bus service into Paphos which charges €1.5 per person
