“"Still as good as we remembered !!"”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

We last visited Paphos 15 years ago and stumbled across this great taverna . We always said if we ever went back to Paphos we would definitely revisit Michael's again. Having recently returned from a weeks visit to Paphos we did indeed revisit for an evening meal and can confirm that it has retained its hospitality and excellent cuisine...If you are in the the Paphos area then a visit is a must and you will not be disappointed...

“So good we had to go back!”
Reviewed April 24, 2013

My boyfriend and I visited Michael's Tavern twice during our week in Paphos (April 2nd- 9th). The first time we saw michael's recommended in our Thomas Cook booklet which we received on our arrival. Michael's Tavern was recommended as somewhere to try traditional Cypriot food, and we were not disappointed!
Whilst reading the menu outside on our first visit, Demitris- Michael's son, gave us a warm, friendly welcome, and also mentioned that the restaurant had been running in the family for over 30 years, if we hadn't already been planning to visit this restaurant, he would have won us over on that fact alone.
On our first meal, we both had a selection of Cypriot dips for starter, which were plentiful portions, (especially for the price) and went down exceptionally well with the free warm bread! We both ate a famous Cypriot dish called 'Kleftiko' which is a lamb dish, for main. The lamb was some of the tastiest I've ever had and was served with no end of vegetables and rice, I chose to have a jacket potato and my partner chose to have chips, we are plate clearers and even we struggled to eat all of the wonderful which was put before us. The waitress Suzannah, and Dimitris were exceptionally accommodating, but in a way which you felt as though you were in the company of friends.
Our second visit, where I had chicken a la zorb and my partner had pork we were equally as thrilled and would definitely return again when we are next in paphos.
My only slight criticism is that the desserts are not on par with the starters and main meals- so I would definitely opt to have a starter and a main opposed to a dessert.

Can't wait to return, thank you so much :)

“Excellent food and service”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

We stumbled across michaels by mistake, and it was a very lucky mistake for us. From the friendly welcome to the superb food.
It was that good we returned on another two occasions, there was a slight mishap with a Smirnoff ice but that was quickly dealt with :)
Any request was dealt within a friendly nature, and they catered to our fussy children's need very well. Our oldest daughter now 8 months on still asks for " chicken ala chef" like she got at michaels. We are returning to paphos in July this year and michaels will be one of our first stops.
Keep up the good work :)

“Bit of a mixed bag”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

Our family of four ate at Michael's Tavern during our recent stay in Paphos and our experience was very mixed. We received a very warm welcome and the initial service was prompt but we found the menu options to be quite limited. The complimentary pitta with garlic butter was very nice and the starters were fine but required little culinary skill to prepare. The main courses were variable with the traditional local dishes faring better than the steaks in sauces which were both over cooked to how we ordered them. The service then seemed to evaporate as the evening wound down and the staff began to converse with various guests whilst being oblivious to the needs of others. We found it necessary to go over to a member of staff who was chatting and ask for a dessert menu and the creme brulee which we ordered was much more akin to creme caramel when it arrived.
Perhaps a "poor" rating is a little harsh but we failed to see how this restaurant can be ranked so highly. We ate here early in our stay so that we could probably return for my wife's birthday. We didn't.
