The Almond Tree is a wonderful restaurant! It is reccommended in the Lonely Planet guide book and I checked. It was there! It is close to the Bar Street and is only 10 minutes from the Almyra Hotel or the Annabelle Hotel.
I started going to the restaurant years ago. I've always loved their food and I keep going back with my friends and ex boyfriends from the UK. I went there 2 years ago to celebrate my engagement with my fiance and again to celebrate our anniversaries!
Upon arrival, you don't need to worry about getting a seat. There are plenty to choose from if you arrive at 7pm. But if you are arriving after 8.30pm in the summer, you need to book in advance.
You will get complimentary brushetta as you receive your menus.
There are so many nice things to eat. Oven baked feta with tomato, garlic and balsamic vinagrette. Chicken with satay sauce. Tomato and basil soup. Duck with orange sauce.
For the main course, I love to have the beef medallion with cheese and mushroom on top. I tried the wahoo (supposed to be swordfish relation!) and I liked it very much. There is a gorgeous pancake with vegetables with cheese.
Try their braised lamb with mashed potatoes. I don't know how the chef does it, but the mash potatoes are absolutely heaven. I couldn't recreate the flavours at home!
My absolute favourite above all, has to the be cappucino creme brule! Which is secondly followed by the vanilla and berry creme brule. They are both wonderful and I fall in love with them every time I eat them which isn't often. They are perfect...
The service is great. The waiters always take care of you and listen to you. There is a wine cooler/fridge and it is temperature controlled. All the wines served to you are really good. My father has his wines there and never once had anything negative to say about the wines.
When you get the bill, you will receive complimentary butterscotch liquers.
The owner is called Andreas. He is married to an English wife and has children. He lived in Miami for a while so he is really absolutely absolutely fluent in English and you can have any conversation with him at ease. He is a wonderful cook and he trains his chef assistants so that they cook as good as he does.
I go to Almond Tree because I love the food, drinks and ambience there. I always leave the restaurant feeling very satisified. And I am definitely going back soon. Very soon!
