Description: It should be noticed that the establishment is a very traditional one, in more ways than appearance. It is an old building of stone and wood. The two dining rooms are decorated with antiques and items from the old household of rural Cyprus. The garden is very pleasant with flowers and herbs growing all around it. The food is traditional and seasonal. We cook everything that can grow in Cyprus, basing a lot of our food on traditional dishes, and wild vegetables, picked by ourselves. We serve Meze, which traditionally means delicate taste, and in Cyprus it is used to mean a variety of delicacies. A typical meze at the 7 St Georges will start with salad and between 6-10 appetizers, this will differ every night but may include, homegrown olives, cured meats, dips and pickles. The meze will continue with a variety of traditional and some times contemporary meat and vegetable dishes. We use only the best meats to provide mouthwatering roasts and succulent casseroles, you can expect to enjoy our now well known Kleftico (lamb or beef on the bone cooked in sealed ovens, succulent) and a vegetarians delight of vegetable dishes, depending on the season they will include, rice stuffed marrow flowers, bumyas (ochra) cooked in a tomato and mint sauce, black eyed beans with home grown marrow, tomato fritters, cheese and vegetable pies. The meze will be about 20 dishes, depending how much one can eat, expect to be surprised and delighted at the array of dishes that will be brought to you over the meal (expect to be eating for about 2 hours), at the 7 St Georges we serve quality food in an informal and comfortable setting, take your time and enjoy the experience.

Just returned from our first trip to Cyprus, and first visit to the 7 St George Tavern.
I can safely say this place served up the best meal we had of our entire stay. All the other restaurant's we visited in Pathos seemed to be serving from the same menu / same meze menu, and got a little boring after a few days. This was a completely different place. We took a cab to it (suggested by our hotel - good idea, as its a little complicated to find on foot I would feel.)
The guy that showed us to our seats explained how the evening would work. Go with the flow is my advice. The 'meze' plates came out at a steady pace. Yes they are small servings, but that's the whole point of meze! The local wine was pleasant enough, and the puddings, although not included in the price were nice. We found the price of our meal to be on a par with what the Pathos harbour restaurants were charging. The place is rustic, and we had a very pleasant and relaxed evening. Agree with some about the references to the number of cats about the place. At one point hubby had 4 by him, and I had 4 at my feet. We were not bothered at all by this, as we are cat lovers, but I can see how it would certainly put some people off.

First the good, the food wasn't tasteless as some have intimated, it was rather good. Exactly as advertised, local sustainable food, well-prepared and rustically presented. The prices are comparable with the touristy areas of Paphos but the service is better and at no time do you feel rushed to leave.

The bad, yes there are lots of cats but if you ignore them they generally are not a problem. The only real issue I had was the proprietors chain-smoking outside. Whether this is a local custom or not it just looks unprofessional.

Overall, the food is good and the tavern is well worth a visit. It's fairly priced for what it is and the welcome is warm.

Thank strickers

This TripAdvisor raved about restaurant was a bit hard to find (by walking from Paphos), but it was possible. Wish I had taken a taxi.

We were met by a young man whom took the time to talk to us about the food and how it would be presented for us. Basically it's all organic foods and they will serve you till you say stop. The latter is a bit of a dilemma because I did not want to miss anything great (like pork). The starter was homemade bread, but hard to chew on. Luckily this was not the case for the rest of the meals. I really enjoyed most of the meals, the kleftico being a favorite. I even liked the haloumi. My bf also liked the food, but he was missing grilled meats.
The best part was the moist chocolate dessert. Again; different, but incredibly good.

The location outside of Paphos creates a more relaxing atmosphere and this makes for a good stop in the midst of a holiday to Paphos.

I give this 5/5 combined for service, food, setting and the enthusiast behind the meals - making this our best overall dining out experience in Paphos.

It is not a gourmet restaurant, it is a very nice Cypriot taverna with its own creative ways, not a British twist. Too many tavernas compete on the same menu as they believe the Brits want it. We went there again today to see for ourselves what all the negative reviews were about, and came out satisfied. If you don't like cats, don't go there, although they waited rather patiently until they were invited.
As for the place itself, it is as pleasant as ever. Even if you are a good cook yourself, you get insight into how the food may be prepared another way. The house wine is good, both the red and white, not to forget the lovely bread. Do go if you are able to enjoy the place as it wants to present itself, a nice place to visit, and we could even have stayed there if it were for sale :-)

This was the third time we went to the restaurant and we had a fantastic time. The food was lovely and the wine was fantastic. There were five of us in our party, there was something for everyone and we were all thoroughly impressed with everything which was offered to us.
