Description: It should be noticed that the establishment is a very traditional one, in more ways than appearance. It is an old building of stone and wood. The two dining rooms are decorated with antiques and items from the old household of rural Cyprus. The garden is very pleasant with flowers and herbs growing all around it. The food is traditional and seasonal. We cook everything that can grow in Cyprus, basing a lot of our food on traditional dishes, and wild vegetables, picked by ourselves. We serve Meze, which traditionally means delicate taste, and in Cyprus it is used to mean a variety of delicacies. A typical meze at the 7 St Georges will start with salad and between 6-10 appetizers, this will differ every night but may include, homegrown olives, cured meats, dips and pickles. The meze will continue with a variety of traditional and some times contemporary meat and vegetable dishes. We use only the best meats to provide mouthwatering roasts and succulent casseroles, you can expect to enjoy our now well known Kleftico (lamb or beef on the bone cooked in sealed ovens, succulent) and a vegetarians delight of vegetable dishes, depending on the season they will include, rice stuffed marrow flowers, bumyas (ochra) cooked in a tomato and mint sauce, black eyed beans with home grown marrow, tomato fritters, cheese and vegetable pies. The meze will be about 20 dishes, depending how much one can eat, expect to be surprised and delighted at the array of dishes that will be brought to you over the meal (expect to be eating for about 2 hours), at the 7 St Georges we serve quality food in an informal and comfortable setting, take your time and enjoy the experience.

This restaurant was recommended by trip advisor reviews and we were not disappointed from the moment we walked in, there was a lovely traditional ambience with nice outdoor covered eating area, the owner George personally greeted all customers and explained his Meze was not like the usual Tourist Ghetto stuff! They would bring food until we couldnt eat any more but he respectfully asked we didn't waste food! No need all dishes were deliciously cooked and exceptionally tasty and didn't replicate a previous Meze meal at all, home made bread the best I've tasted, loved the Okra and aubergine dishes! The hot chocolate melted dessert was to die for but no good for the waist line. We were even given remaining bread to take home in a bag. 17 euros each well worth the money for quality and quantity!

There is no menu for this restaurant, they just bring you food until you say 'STOP'

The food comes as a meze (lots of small Greek plates), which is different to other mezes you get in more commercial restaurants. The food in the best you will taste in Cyprus and is traditional food.

The wine is organic and the whole meal is excellent value for money.

If you are in Cyprus you should make every effort to go to this Tavern. I would make it early in your holiday as I am sure you will want to go back. It is closed on a Monday and you will need to book.

We ate here twice during our 12 night stay in Paphos. The staff are wonderful as is the food! Make sure you don't eat all day! Food keeps coming until you literally say no. This is a traditional Greek Mezze. The home made organic wine is lovely too! Good for gluten free too! You can have everything except the bread and couscous. They understand gluten free too, which was reassuring. This is a must visit. If you get a taxi from Paphos harbour/ tomb of the kings road it's only €10. The meal also for 2 and 2 litres of wine was €60

We have been frequent visitors to Paphos over the last 8 years or so and have visited many restaurants in that time - including several favourites such as 7 St Georges on more (many more!) than one occasion. This time round we took 4 friends from the UK who had not been there previously. They were bowled over - in a positive way! - by the whole experience, particularly the great ambience, the quality and freshness of the food (my particular favourite of the many dishes that just kept on coming was the courgette and egg combination) and, not least, the marvellous organic wine, which wondrously does not seem to generate any adverse after effects, even when consumed in large quantities. We managed to keep some room for the excellent puddings including the magnificent lemon cake. George and Ben who now run the restaurant are fabulous hosts and this remains not only the most unusual (no menu, blackboards or choice) meze house in Paphos; it is also by some margin, the best.

This had to be our best meal during our stay in Paphos and we kept it till the last evening. As a vegetarian I went with an open mind and as I don't like to make a fuss we didn't mention it when we sat down (I'd found that lots of Cypriot food is vege). I was delighted to find that all the starters were vegetarian, the bread was simply heaven on earth and when the main (meat) courses arrived a side dish of vegetables was presented too. The courgette and egg dish was amazing, as another reviewer mentioned! We didn't say STOP so the dishes kept coming! The last dish was goat, that didn't go down too well with the other three but the cats certainly enjoyed it. After a suitable rest we shared four puddings, they were all delicious - must have been calorific but it would be rude not to enjoy them. The bill came to 125 euros for all four of us including 2 bottles of wine. A treat but a must do - will certainly go back!
