We stayed here in November 2011. Kostas, our host, was warm and welcoming, as were his family. The accommodation was in the form of studio apartments and we had a 2-person studio with bed, table and chairs, kitchen area and ensuite bathroom - small but adequate. Evenings were cool but the heating was efficient and the room soon warmed up when we returned after a day's walking.

The food in Kostas's attractive nearby taverna with its stone walls and log fire was tasty and very plentiful. On top of that we were treated to music and song performed by Kostas himself.
Breakfast was taken in the sunshine on the terrace at the coffee shop a few metres from the taverna, with a wonderful view to the sea.

The village is very quiet and has very few inhabitants but a lot of work is going on to restore some of the houses. Those that have been done, like our apartments, blend in very well.

We really liked Lofou and our stay there - we would happily return and that is due in most part to Kostas himself, who made us feel so welcome.

I spent two nights at Agrovino studios. My studio was number 3 and it was amazing, cozy and comfortable. The en-suite facilities were of a high standard.
My studio had a washing machine and a big fridge. It was fully equipped for self catering, but I had no intention to cook inside. In my private courtyard there were two studios but I was just on my own the days of my stay. The studio had the traditional Cypriot décor with a comfortable bed, a sitting room and kitchen all in one.
The walls were all made of stone, and the colours of the whole interior décor were natural and so warm.
Costa the owner has the tarvern of the village which is usually closed on Mondays, but he always opens at night if he has guests in his studios. There was no other tavern open for lunch and I did not find even a bakery to buy something during the day. It was a bit difficult for me, but in the evening the tavern was open for the people staying in the studios so it was fine as there was a variety of dishes to choose from, all tasty and fresh. Costa told me that the products are mainly from the family’s garden.
There is no internet access in the studios, but there is the Agrovino Coffee shop where people who need internet access can go there instead. I was disappointed though because it was a Monday and this was closed as well.
The owner Mr. Costa Violaris is an excellent host and a very good cook himself. I saw a certificate on the wall from the Cyprus Tourism Organization for his excellent Cypriot cuisine valid till the 20th November 2008. It is a family run business and I strongly recommend a visit to Agrovino hotel to people who want to get a taste of the real Cypriot culture.

We stayed a week at Lofou Taverner and really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the village. The studio apartment was just perfect for 2. Traditional style but with all mod cons. I could sit in bed in the early morning and look out of the open doors to a wonderful view of the mountain. It was sunny and very warm in October - 33 degrees on some days and the evenings were 23-29 degrees- even though it was in the mountains where it is cooler! The village was interesting with a lovely church. Deserted for most of the week but busier at weekends when people come back. Visited some lovely sites nearby at Platres, Caledonian falls was a lovely walk and the monastery at Omodos - nice quaint village. The hospitality of Costas and his family at the Taverna was brilliant - nothing too much trouble. The whole family work very hard to make your stay enjoyable. Food is traditional and well cooked and the ambience in the taverner is great and on some evenings Costas plays his bazouki. I would recommend this village to anyone looking for friendliness, peace and quiet and traditional authentic Cyprus ! Will upload some pictures very soon.

Beautiful studio. Take the large one and just enjoy being there. Good location and ideal for an early break. No doubt it is even more fantastic in the spring/ summer/autumn. Very friendly staff. Great breakfast and wonderful evening meals in the taverna. Go there now!

We stayed in a studio for 2, which we found very cramped, largely because it was filled with too much, unnecessary furniture. It was difficult to find space to put our suitcasesand our belongings. As it was a "studio" and not a hotel room, you had to specifically request to have your bathroom cleaned, handing in the key each morning. Given the Cypriot style of plumbing - paper does not go into the toilet but into the bucket beside it, we felt this to be very unhygienic. However, once we had been informed of the procedure, the system worked.

Lofou is a small village of narrow lanes and stone houses, so the heat builds up quite a lot. It was also the only place in Cyprus where we suffered from innumerable mosquito bites.

We arrived on a Monday, forunately rather early as we were then advised that the taverna was closed on Mondays and we would have to drive 4 km to find the nearest one, or to find a supermarket where we could stock up for a self catered meal.

We stayed for a week in one of the Studios. Ours was brilliant, good cooker, fridge, air con and heater (it was in April) and comfortable bed. We had a shared sitting out area where you could watch the swallows and contemplate the mountains - lovely. We saw another studio for 4 which was nice but much more basic - no oven just a hob, and one saucepan. The decoration in both is excellent though - traditional but cosy. Costas and his family who run virtually everythng in Lofou (everything being 2 tavernas, a coffee shop and wine cellar) are lovely people, friendly and helpful - food in their taverna is tasty and traditional.

Lofou is an almost deserted village in the foothills of the Troodos mountains,in a first class walking area. Recently renovated under a Unesco project - its quiet little streets have changed little since the middle ages, except now it is clean and walking about in the sunshine is magical. It is very quiet because most residents live elsewhere in the week and only retun for the weekend - this idylll is occasionally interupted by a coach load of visitors venturing up the mountain for a "traditional taverna lunch/evening" at Costas' taverna (and maybe the other taverna that was open when we were there. It would be churlish to complain - this IS a genuine traditional taverna and its owners have a living to make - but if you like the peace and quiet of Lofou suggest that you stay in on those nights. On the other hand Costas will usually play the bouzouki for these groups which makes for a really jolly evening, and if you are lucky will play for ordinary diners or residents on other evenings, even if there are only a couple - magical and unforgettable.
