“The Best Winery in Cyprus”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2008

What a gem! This winery simply has Cyprus's best looking tasting room, very professional and very clean production facility, and, best of all, beautifully stacked wine cellar (8 meters under ground with over hundred thousand bottles). When you want to taste their 16 different kinds of wine, each one of them is presented with description and recommendation. In addition, staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. And not to forget, the wines are to die for! Can only recommend this place.

“Worth a trip any time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2007

Read the previous reviews, and decided to take a look and drove to Platres (35 min. from Limassol).
Apart from the much cooler temperatures up in the Troodos mountains, the winery looked like a million dollars ( especially having visited some wineries in Cyprus before). The people were super friendly, the winemaker, Mr. Lambouri, gave a personal tour, explained everything beautifully and didn't mind any question. Oh, and most importantly, the wines... a dream. The wines were so tasty, every single one (you can try all their wines and get detailed descriptions and "tasting tour"). One pity is, as was previously mentioned, the wines are not available in supermarkets in Cyprus, only sold at location :( hope it will change. Can only recommend Lambouri winery and its wines. Had a fantastic time.

“Lambouru - What a Wine! And what aWinery”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2006

My friendnd a I just came back from our holidays in Cyprus. The Island is beautiful and has a lot of remarkable places to go. One of those places was for us the Lambouri Winery. We had a Lambouri Dry White wine with our dinner in a Hotel Restaurant in Pitsuri, and were amazed about its taste. After asking the waitress, where the wine was coming from, and where we could buy some for our trip back home, she pointed out that the wines are only sold at the winery in Platres (Kato Platres to be exact).
The next day, we embarked on an hour long car journey, driving to Pltares, to see the birthplace of that great white wine. Honestly, it was magical. I have seen some wineries in the Mediterranean, having the typical rustic, old, and not so clean look. This was something else. A very tastefully designed tasting room (we were told that a Cypriot star designer and the owner's wife made the designs), very modern equipment, and a breath-taking cellar (one would love to stay in the cellar locked up for a few days ;) ) - all not too bad for a 300 year old winery.
When we arrived, the place looked a bit disserted, but within a few moments a very polite young lady came to welcome us and apologized for having let us wait, but it was there high season of production. Nevertheless, she took all the time we wanted, giving us a very informative and enjoyable tour of the winery (we even were allowed to see how the winery was receiving grapes), explained the wine making process, and gave us very informative facts about the wines, which we were able to taste for free. In addition, she told us that the Lambouri Winery just won two awards at the second largest international wine competition, I believe it was in Vienna. Honestly, after trying all their wines (they have 6 for sale at the moment), each one of them deserves an award.
Unfortunately the Lambouri Wines are only available at the winery to buy, no exports yet.

“Romance in Cyprus's mountains”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2006

It gets pretty hot in Cyprus in the summer. So, in order to escape the heat, my husband and I went to the Troodos mountains. It was only 40 min. by car and what a difference! No humidity, no smog... A friend of ours advised us to visit a boutique winery in Kato Platres. Lambouri winery was pretty easy to find, just off the main road (Limassol-Pafos) in the Troodos mountains.
What a gorgeous place! We had a winery tour, a free wine tasting. People were very friendly. The seating was in abundance. The winery even had a picture exhibition. The atmosphere was so romantic--mountains, sunshine, and yes, free and excellent wine...Anyway, we'll definately return to this place next time to Cyprus.
