Where to start. On arrival the reception was closed and it wasn't particularly late. Phone this number sign instead. We were directed to a two bedroom apartment but not in the Tasiana Star but the opposite side of the pool. The rooms were large but the cleanliness was very poor. The floors were dusty and in desperate need of a wash. The bathroom, well shower very low fitted but hot water was always available. Really didn't fancy running a bath!! Toilet ok. Radiator in main bedroom leaked water constantly leaving a trail of water. Enough storage space for clothes though. Kettle didn't work so had this replaced after tracking down the owner. Towels and bedding have seen better days without a doubt. We had a ten day break and the bedding was not changed once and had to ask for clean towels when needed.

The security is appalling as no windows lock and the safety box wasn't even attached to the floor and came away in my hand. We arrived back one day to find the balcony door open but luckily nothing out of place.

Staff were friendly enough but this place lacked a comfortable feeling. The complex is very big but always deserted and I am not talking about other tourists but staff. Reception always closed with no sign of life. Could be made into an amazing place with buckets of TLC but unfortunately we won't be back.

This was going to be a family holiday with older young adults who decided after five days enough was enough and got an early flight home. The pool was dirty with loose tiles and floating bugs. Even an electrical screw driver was at the bottom. Hence we never used this facility.

Basically to sum it up this apartment was used as a base to sleep and shower. We hired a car which is a must as the beaches which are stated very close are not good. Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa is a must and so is a trip to the Troodos Mountains.

This is a truthful review and a shame it has to be said but will pay more next time for comfort and security which is a must for any foreign holiday.

We felt very at home during our stay at Tasiana's Star Complex. Tasiana and her family were helpful and sorted out all queries we had...helped us telephone for taxi to airport, provided us with extra crockery/wine glasses, helped us to get onto an excursion. They are busy people but find time for their guests. Room was clean and spacious with good sized balcony and large bedroom and lounge area. Pool area was fine for what we wanted...we used it alot and there were very few children about so perfect for what we needed. All in all, great value for money. Wouldn't got to Limassol again but if I was going to return on a budget, I would stay at Tasiana's again without hesitation. Nice quiet location which is only 5/10 minute walk to main shops and bars.

Room Tip: Tasiana has the Star Complex and then the apartments up the road. We did not see the apartments but they are a walk away from the pool and bar so be aware of the this if you are not on the Star Complex.

When booking online I added the information that my cousin (name given to the hotel) had prebooked a number of rooms in the occassion of this 80th birthday, and that I should have the special rate you had promised him. My additional information was not even read, much less acted upon. I ended up paying double the price negotiated by my cousin. This was not discovered until I checked in, and the hotel had already charged my credit card for the full seven nights I was staying. My complaints were met with a shrug from management. The neighbourhood is untidy. There are even a lot of chickens in a plot nearby, resulting in aggressive flies. Could not eat outdoors.

We stayed in the Tasiana Star apartments for a week in October. Arriving on late evening we were greeted by the family (all spoke English) who were all in the reception area and promptly allocated our room. The first issue started there, when the bathroom light was broken. To be fair to them, they came to the room and fixed it within 5 minutes.

The apartment was extremely basic, and whilst 'self catering', we had to ask for extra cooking utensils and pans as we planned to cook on a couple of the evenings. The shower wasn't very powerful at all but we made do. What the tour operator should have highlighted to us was the major building work happening on our floor, which in the day was very noisy. As we weren't there much we didn't complain, but would have had good grounds to ask for replacement accommodation.

The biggest positive was the pool area. Nice and peaceful with no kids running around (this complex really wouldn't be suitable for young children) and sun beds were always available. The bar was reasonably priced inline with other local bars and restaurants, and the music was at a reasonable volume.

The complex is set back from the main road running along the coast, but only 5 minutes walk from all the main bars and restaurants so excellently located. The local beaches aren't much to write home about, but we took a 10 minute bus ride to Governors Beach which was just fantastic. The buses only charge €2 for an all day pass, and are air-conditioned and very smart.

Overall it was a nice holiday. The issues we had in the apartment complex were dealt with, but they were things you shouldn't have to ask about in the first place. Tasiana Star apartments weren't the nightmare scenario that other reviews suggest, but my 'poor' rating is also on the basis that for the price of 2* self catering in Cyprus we could have gone 4/5* all inclusive in Egypt for the same price or less.

If you have any questions, please send me a message. :-)

Room Tip: Try and get a room overlooking the pool and bar area. The music isn't on loud or until late so you wouldn't be disturbed, and the view would be nicer than the wasteland we overlooked!
