“Worth a visit but a special trip not required!”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

Dont expect too much when you go to this castle.Other than climbing the stairs into the top of the castle and being able to walk through the old door way, there is not alot to see.Sometimes they have craft / art fairs so its nice to go then.If you are in Kolossi for the day, then it is on route to the Curium Beach & there is also an Ampi theatre on route. Its not that pricey about 3 euros. There is also an archaeological site near by & I also came across a very nice church -which is visible on your right hand side -as you drive out of the gates of the Kolossi castle compound. I would not recommend the castle for the elderly as the steps are high and no wheelchair access from what I can remember..

“castle of kolossi and a tavern on the parking lot”
Reviewed November 5, 2013

The castle is interesting for its structure as a fortress in the wide open countryside.
But never go eat something at the tavern on the parking lot near a little chapel : bad quality of food at prices of a 6-star hotel...

“Fireplaces in a fire place”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

The present Kolossi castle was built in the 15th century just a few miles from the centre of Limassol, on the site of a previous 13 th century castle, however it is now surrounded by more modern streets and houses.
Inside the grounds it very peaceful and the castle is quite imposing. The castle is not suitable for people with walking difficulties as it is a short climb to the entrance and significant climbs within it. Inside the castle there are various points of interest, including a chapel and a dining hall, the fire places are particularly attractive. From the top of the castle there are great views and outside there are ruins of the earlier buildings.
This is not a WOW place but if you like historical sites you will not be disappointed with this one, especially for less than 2 euros..
Outside the entrance/exit, there are two small establishments serving drinks and food.

“worth a visit”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

The medieval castle which dates back over 1000 years is worthy of a visit. interesting history and the views from the roof of the castle are worth the climb to the top. Well preserved. The spiral staircase to the roof is not for the faint-hearted. Took about 45 minutes to visit and there is not much else to see in the immediate vicinity.

“This is what castles should be like”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

Only the main tower survives, but it is surrounded by interesting ruins - including a medieval sugar mill. There is a beautiful little church a few metres away. Well worth visiting if you are going to Kourion.
