I usually don't write comments on my various annual trips however The Grand Resort, Limassol, and its staff deserve a few minutes to congratulate them for my excellent and friendly stay!
The room (ocean view) was great - the food very good and the staff ready to deliver.
Special thanks to Agnes (bar) for her smile and kindness and to Canstandinos for arranging everything in an unexpected and beautiful way!
A place to go back!

Room Tip: My Ocean View room was perfect and is worth a few euros more! The higher (level wise) the better.

Somewhere back in the 1980s this hotel may have been 5 star. I am not in a position to say as this was our first and I can say last stay. As in any review you can only comment on your own experiences and from that point of view I acknowledge that other guests may have a
different experiences. My wife is a disabled traveller who uses a mobility scooter when abroad
In all other European hotels we have stayed in there has never been a problem with leaving the scooter in the hotel reception area over night to charge battery. The Grand Resort is the exception. We where told to park it "out of sight" in staff room. If you are unfortunate enough to be disabled imagine how welcome this makes you feel.Bad Start did not improve when allocated a room facing on to main road with constant noise of cars and motorbikes racing along road until early hours.Room its self tired and jaded, furniture TV from 1970s Two days into holiday after sleepless nights we discovered my wifes bed was broken. No spare bed avilable repairs carried out by placing 6x4 board across broken slats.Oh before I forget cable for charging scooter goes missing. Following complaint to guest relations Cable recovered explanation { staff member with learning difficulties} had taken it by mistake As far as food is concerned Breakfasts good Evening meals served between 7pm -10pm a lottery
My wife and I Like to eat around 8pm or slightly later at Kyma resturant food was cold at this time despite numerous complaints to catering staff nothing changed. As a consequence mywife and I frequently eat out { Try Lisa's Bistro across the road from hotel} Tycoons Bar forget it no atmosphere unless you want to pose with an overpriced cocktail Finally there is something which merits 5 star at this hotel and that is the pool, gardens, and beach area and the sea is safe and clean.

Room Tip: If you can afford the extra cost choose a sea facing room

We don't like such places. Small territory, you can hardly walk there. Small refrigerator in our room (minibar), but we would like to drink local vine and normal water and it's a challenge to place 2 big bottles there. Waiters in the canteen are not always very friendly. The dinners and different services are expensive, we preferred to go out. No internet in rooms.

This hotel may have been 5 star a few decades back, but it is definitely around 2 star, 3 star max at the moment. There is a problem in this hotel where stray cats surround the breakfast area or the eating area beside the pool begging for scraps. What worries me is that these cats are stray, ragged and if you are pregnant, pose a huge risk to an unborn child, hence why I say avoid. I told the management about this, he noticed I was Greek Cypriot also (born in UK however but nearly fluent), and he agreed with me and told me the English tourists are to blame as they love animals and would complain if they removed them! I advised him that after finding cat hair on our cutlery and seeing dirty animals sitting on sun loungers (one on the towel of a poor unsuspecting individual who popped into the pool for a dip) then things would be worse for them as any illness caught would see them facing legal action. Anyway he wasn't concerned and as such I would totally avoid, never to return here again. Also, few other things, the TV in the room is not flat screen, but the archaic huge juggernaut variety popular in the early 80s. The choice of movies on demand included indiana jones in raiders of the lost ark! And there was enough mould in the steam room and bathroom to provide enough work for a science lab testing bacteria growth to keep busy for a lifetime.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view as you will otherwise get a view of the motorway going from limassol to nicosia.

We had our wedding at Grand Resort in April 2012.

The whole experience started off amazingly from the moment we stepped into the hotel. The Manager really knew his stuff and it showed. The facilities including the hall for the dinner was the most impressive around with its open plan design, no columns like most wedding halls. The garden setup and the pool area were also idea for guests to greet the couple as is customary here in Cyprus.

Our wedding day was truly wonderful. We constantly felt at ease, something very rare with all the rush of a wedding. The Manager was on top of everything down to the last detail, so we really didn’t need to worry about anything, we were guided every step of the way down to the very last detail!

The food at our reception was amazing as was the organization of the area. We are still getting complements about how impressed everybody was. We especially loved the unique setting of crossing a bridge over the pool to come and greet the couple. It gave it a true fairy tale touch.

The dinner was the peak of it all. We were given the grand entrance that everyone dreams about; something made possible, besides the outstanding organization, by the setup of the hall. The food was absolutely amazing. The variety and the quality was simply the best around as all our guest were quick to point out.

Finally, to top off a truly outstanding experience, the room we got for our wedding night was absolutely amazing, with panoramic views of the entire Limassol coastline; a Jacuzzi in a raised area with all the amazing views in sight; and to top it off complementary Champaign and other treats. Everything was outstanding, we really couldn’t have asked for anything more. And we got all this at an amazing price compared to anything even remotely approaching the kind of quality we got.

It was a magical experience that we will never forget as long as we live.

Thank you Grand Resort and especially Ioannis Demenegas (the Manger that made it all seamless).

Did the previous reviewers stay in the same hotel? Yes this has all the usual amenities of a 5 star hotel, coffee making, bathrobes, laundry service etc but the ambience is not there. What other 5 star hotel tells its guests how to dress in the evening! Bed sheets were changed only once during our stay, and the table and chairs by the lifts can't have been cleaned for weeks. Breakfast had a huge choice but was tasteless, bacon burnt round the edges and eggs still raw and goodness knows what passed as the hash browns, the toast machine took 10 minutes to colour the bread. In the Tycoons bar after a very long wait a plain chicken burger came covered in mayonaise and the chips were stone cold. One day we were made to feel very uncomfortable when men in suits attending a conference came wandering round the pool and the same afternoon around 4.30pm the sunbeds were gradually shifted and tables put in their places ready for an al fresco meal to be enjoyed by the conference goers. Picture added. This is at best a good 3 star hotel. I would not recommend a stay here and if unfortunately you have already booked may I suggest you eat out at Terra Mere where the food it top quality.

Room Tip: Our room 238 overlooked some good restaurants. There was a lot of traffic noise from the three roads...

This hotel is situated quite a distance from Limassol A bus outside the hotel takes you into the city for Euro 1-( but the buses stop running at 10.00pm, whilst a taxi will cost between Euro 15 - 20. There is not much available in the way of entertainment in the immediate area outside the resort, other than a few restaurants and bars along with a few supermarkets.

The public rooms and grounds are amazing and well cared for. The hotel provides an excellent buffet breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful. The public areas are kept spotless..

Bedrooms are spacious and well furnished. Bedrooms that do not have a sea view are noisy and the balconys with these rooms face inland and there are two busy main roads outside the hotel entrance.

Our particular room was in need of an upgrade - stains on the bedroom walls and the grouting on the tiles around the bath tub were particulary in poor condition. The room itself was clean and comfortable.

We found the price of food and drink in the resort to be fairly expensive - 12.5 Euro for a gin and tonic.

Whilst officially classed as a five star property - it in no way compares to five star properties in the UK, USA or other major European Cities.

In all, because of the "isolated" location - we were glad of the facilities available but on any future trip would choose a property nearer to the town of Limassol.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a sea-view room.
