“Don't go there for the food...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2013

My partner and I were booked for an all inclusive week, to get some sun. The hotel has an 80s charm that is quite noticeable - it could do with being freshened up, but it looks funky, if you like dark pink marble and the likes.

The staff were lovely and welcoming, always willing to help and accommodate. The comfort in the room was very basic for a five star hotel - the beds werent very comfortable, and the air con wasnt working very well.
Being pregnant, I couldn't drink and was hoping the non-alcoholic cocktails would be proper cocktails - all I was given was cheap fruit juices from concentrate, no effort to make a proper drink was paid.
The food was appalling - everything was absolutely overcooked, on top of being very blend. Thank god for fresh salads. My partner and I aren't fussy eaters at all, we just like pasta to be chewable, and not to disintegrate completely in your mouth due to being so badly overcooked, and we like meat to be edible, not a dried-up and tasteless dish.
We quickly regretted having booked an all inclusive deal, and ended up eating out quite a lot, including at a local pizzeria in Limassol (which made amazing pizza by the way).

Neither of us would recommend staying in this hotel for those reasons.

Room Tip: Choose a room in a different hotel - the food isnt worth paying for in this place.

Dear Reviewer,

We are so sorry to read your review but thank you for letting us know your opinion. We wish you had let us known while you were staying with us and maybe we could have prepared some food and cocktails more suited to your tastes.

We have had very good comments about our buffets and food in general, however will pass on your comments to our executive chef. Wishing you a very Happy New Year 2014 and should you ever wish to return, please do let us know.

Kind regards,

Just returned from this hotel. Very friendly staff, as soon as you arrive you are greeted by the porter the reception staff. The restaurant staff are most helpful. Beautiful food, lots of variety. All staff greet you, even the cleaning staff. Special mention for the young man Vadim who tried hard to motivate the few guests to take part in various activities eg. quizes, bingo, cards, darts, archery, table tennis, exercises etc. He did a great job. Keep up the good work. Had a very large room with balcony overlooking the pool, very confortable.Only one thing the rooms lack an easy chair, only have metal frame chairs, other guests spoke of this. It is a beautiful hotel lots of marble and chandeliers and painted ceilings. lovely grounds to walk in down to the sea. Very quiet location, but not isolated there is a bus No.30 outside to Limassol. €1.50

Room Tip: Family rooms overlooking the pool are large and have a large sunny patio.

We stayed in August and have not stopped talking about the holiday! The staff are very friendly and the attention to detail is exceptional so if you are looking for a quiet relaxing time then get yourself on a plane to this hotel!

Excellent food great selection of all inclusive drinks and the bus into Limassol was dirt cheap. A tip for you don't take a taxi they are dead expensive and hunt the English like crocodiles for fares.

Towels are available so you don't need to take them clogging up your suitcase and loungers always about so I loved not having to do a 6AM get up. People have commented on the Russians yes they are ignorant at times but I guess that's how they are brought up.

I could go on forever but the best review for them is to do what we have done and look to book for 2014!!

Finally thanks for a wonderful holiday and a special mention for Christo, great cocktails combined with his smile will live long in our hearts!

This hotel is impressive from the moment you enter the marbled lounge and reception area. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, she willingly changed one of our rooms so we could have two together. We were then escorted to the rooms by the porter who also rang the kitchen to make sure we got fed despite arriving late due to a flight delay. The rooms were large and comfortable with a partition that could be closed off to separate off my 2 grandsons who were occupying bunks.Unusual for a continental hotel there were coffee and tea making facilities. We were on an all inclusive basis which gave plenty of variety of food and drink. We found it especially good for the 5 grandkids we had with uswho wereable to eat what they wanted when they wanted. The kids played in the pool or the hotel's beach most of the time and could keep going for fizzy drinks andice cream at the beach bar. There were plenty of loungers around the pools,on the lawns and on the beach and most surprisingly there was no additional charge for the canoes and pedallos.I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a lazy relaxing holiday.

Not sure where everyone else stayed, but my mother taught me "if you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing!" But I have to write 200 characters, so all I'll say is..... Food same rubbish day in day out, Russians- beyond RUDE! Staff- some friendly some completely rude! The octagon buffet restaurant from the outside looks like a school science lab, very tired, outdated hotel. Would NEVER EVER EVER GO BACK!

Dear 'Jojo-newell',

I must say that your review has completely thrown and shocked us all at our hotel. We have only ever had the best comments about all of our staff, our greatest asset, so to read that 'some are completely rude' has stunned us. Also to read that our newly renovated and brand new restaurant The Octagon looks like a science lab and is 'outdated' is somewhat far fetched, or at least proves how different people can have completely differing tastes. However, we do value all feedback as we constantly strive to better ourselves and deliver excellent value for money.

Please do email me with any other criticism you may have or at least some more details on the above. Apologies that you so obviously did not enjoy your stay and we send you our best regards from a hotel that has again won two international hotel awards this month.

Generally it was a very pleasant stay. Very nice service staff, fast check in/out, good room cleaning, clean restaurants and beach area. My only problem was that I had to compete all the time the guests who had "All inclusive" package.
Due to this, sometimes we had to wait to much, mainly in the bars. Then we decided to go out instead of staying in "Captain's bar".

Just back from a two week stay at the St Raphael, cannot praise this hotel highly enough. The whole experience was superb. The staff from reception, Restaurant, Bar and room maids were the friendliest and most helpful I have ever encountered in any Hotel I have stayed in. the whole ambiance of the hotel from arriving at the reception to meandering through to bars and spa and outdoors round the two pools is just so relaxing. The grounds are the most spacious and well kept I have ever experienced continuing down to a spotless beach where there are ample loungers for everyone ample loungers for everyone. There are also plenty of water sport facilities for those who like more strenuous activities. Many thanks once again to all the staff for making our stay at the St Raphael a memorable one.

Room Tip: If you like the sun in the morning get an east facing room.
