2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2008

The service of the hotel sucksssss!!! They are unable to give you a five star service as a five star hotel. They should be a three star hotel!!!! After we have stacked in the elevator an hour around 4 o clock in the morning they did nothing the other day to apologize for that!!! They promised to do something but since then we have not heart nothing from them.

We arrived for a New Year break and the main reception looked lovely with the decorations lighting up the indoor palm trees. The staff are brilliant and cannot do enough to please.

The Eastern European staff are not what I expected when on holiday in Cyprus though. They do their job, but without a smile. They had a really hard time working so hard but the Cypriot staff work hard too and they are so pleasant.

Food was excellent and my husband, and mother (aged 82) and myself must have gained a stone in weight in a week. We were on an All Inclusive and could'nt believe how brilliant it was. Never been AI before and would definately recommend it here.

The 5 star rating should really only be a 3 though. I have stayed in 5 star hotels and St Raphael does'nt compare. Our room was very dated and the bathroom could do with an overhaul. The lounge chairs in the main area of the lobby need throwing on a skip. They were so uncomfortable you did'nt sit for long.

I made a complaint about the strong sewage smell at the entrance to the Palladium Restaurant. The head waiter said he could'nt smell it . I reported it to the manager and he said that once inside the restaurant I would get used to it!!! Well not for me thank you very much. It just gave me a sore throat. However if you sat far enough away from the stink, the food was excellent and I learned to hold my breath when going in and out of the door.!!! There must be a problem with the drains in this area of the hotel.

You definately need a car as its quite a way out of the main Limassol area. All in all it was a nice break for the New Year and we all feel better for it.

  • Liked — The staff and the food
  • Disliked — The smell of a bad drain on entrance to main restaurant

Great resort for families.

Got a great garden which runs to the beach and a private harbour.

Food in the evening was great, although the breakfast was a little on the average side.

The main part of the hotel is a little dated in architecture terms, but its clean and the rooms are nice.

There is a modern extension which are really nice.

Good pool areas etc.

Generally a nice place.

Had wanted to stay here for a few years and have finally managed it. Extremly friendly and efficient staff on arrival i needed mini bar emptying to put drugs in this took less than 10 minutes. far faster than any other hotel in cyprus. Food at dinner bit of amind numbing choice could easily end up eating to much!
happy hour in bar 6-7pm excellent fantastic value and views. accomodation side seaview beds were comfy bathroom typical hotel tea and coffee making facilities topped up everyday . One night did not go to dinner as had had friends over and eaten in Marina restauran Panckes out of this world! Chef wanted to send food up to me as i was not there luckil;y stopped by parents. Returning next week cant wait.

We travelled to the St Raphael resort with our 6 year old daughter in the October holidays After having had a 1 and half hour wait for our luggage at Larnaca we hopped into a taxi wwhich cost around 32 cyp, as it was after 6pm. normally around 24cyp. We arrived at our hotel and were pleased we had chosen this hotel. we had a great week, we found the staff very friendly and helpful anything you need, not a problem for them. the room was not in the exec building but as we are beach lovers this did not bother us, we did spend some time there purely for the water slide and our daughter had met some lovely children to play with, they made her holiday. Our room was on the fourth floor with great views toward Limassol and the sea, I loved watching the sun go down with a pina colada!! The grounds are lovely and the sea was great for swimming in the pools were a bit chilly, so we did not ventrure in. The food was lovely, I mean you have to be a little adventurous, If you want egg and chips stay at home!!!! We hired a car, the hotel recommend the company across the road, i would not bother using a rep, in fact I would return here again and book everything direct with the hotel. If you are looking for a chill out this is the place to go and the kids will love it. it is worth going to the mountains and the roads are very easy to use. Our first visit to Cyprus was hopefully the first of many. Some families we met while we were there were repeat guests and we could see why. Thank you St Raphael

Stayed there over last week of Oct into November. Loved it! It was only about 40% full, whereas the staff said up until the previous week it had been packed. This meant we never had to wait for anything at all. At the pool there were maybe three or four other people, and on the beach there were plenty of loungers. We could take out pedalos/kayaks whenever we wanted (parted of all inclusive deal). It was totally stress free!

The all inclusive deal is excellent - it genuinely is all inclusive - cocktails, good wine, soft drinks, ice cream - the kids loved the milk shakes. - and all food between 7am and midnight.

The main restuarant - the Palladium - you could see at peak times might get a little overcrowded with tables close together. The food there was OK. The food in the Octagon resturant is Italian themed - but basically a buffet just like in the Palladium. The food in the Phoenician though was fantastic - a full Lebanese mezze - and again part of the all inclusive deal. You are supposed to book in advance for Octagon and Phoenician but it was so quiet there was no need.

The staff were brilliant - could not have been more friendly. There was an almost tangible relief from them though that the season was finally over. Some of the faciltiies were closing during the week for maintencance etc, but this didn't spoil anything.

Weather very good - 28/29, occasionally breezy, although staff said previous year October was a wash-out so i guess we were lucky.

Originally booked in an Executive Wing Family Rooms inland facing but looked out over a car park so we negotiated a reasonable upgrade to sea view connecting rooms in the main building - a very good move. Rooms very comfortable, beds excellent.

Place very popular with Russians - big, big Russians with tattoos, huge muscles and shaven heads. And the guys were big too... boom boom!

But seriously there were loads of scary looking Russian guys with small over bejewelled, often surgically enhanced girlfriends...

And a Greek first division football team with accompanying security guards.

And lots of adopted stray cats

Limassol is about 12 km away so get a taxi or hire a car. Drove into the mountains which were pleasant without being spectacular. Again out of season lots of places were closed.

Would we go back - yes, definitely, but not at peak time - the pool might be too small, and we could see how the restaurants might get a bit more stressful. The all inclusive deal is a must.

The hotel is definitely NOT 5 star (certainly when compared with the Meridien about 500 yards away), but its a worthy 4 star and we had a really lovely, relaxed, easy time.
