Description: Maqam Al-Sultan represents a culture. Lebanese cuisine epitomizes the best of the Mediterranean diet. The heart-healthy ingredients such as fresh vegetables, grains, herbs and spices, lamb, beef, fish, poultry, yogurt and olive oil make a meal replete with robust earthy flavors. At Maqam Al-Sultan we immensely love, enjoy, respect and appreciate our food. Our Lebanese chefs cook the way mama cooks at home. Some family friends recommended this new Lebanese Restaurant while we were on our vacation in Cyprus, Larnaca. We visited the place on Saturday evening because we wanted to try something different and at the same time watch the belly dance show which they have on the weekends. The food, service and the atmosphere were beyond our expectation.
Thank you all at Maqam al sultan for letting us having a wonderful night. we will see you again shortly.

Reading previous reviews i must disagree. We found the food very poor compared to other Arabic restaurants we have tried. The prices are just crazy 40 euro for a meze for 2 and 3.5 for beer no way. Waiters didn't have a clue but wearing a Fez ( isn't that Egyptian) and a gold waistcoat makes it Ok.
Give it a miss and try the steak house next door there were a lot more people in there

The restaurant is situated at the end of Phinikoudes just beside the castle. We had a very warm welcome. The servant described us his lebanese cuisine with compassion. We have chosen the Lebanese Meze and a surprisingly full rich bodied red wine from Lebanon.
It was more elegant and spicy than cyprus dishes and just a bit more expensive but still reasonable.
Just try it, it. is a shorter trip than a MEA flight to Beyrouth.

Had diner at this Lebanese Restaurant 1 time during our stay for 3 nights in Larnaca.
Very good food, fresh, and with a different taste (all the socalled 'traditional' restaurant in the tourist areas serve overpriced low quality food).

Heard from friends that this new Lebanese restaurant had opened on Larnaca seafront but they hadn't dined there so we decided to try it for ourselves. Having lived in Middle East for a number of years we are passionate about Lebanese food and we were not disappointed.
The pleasant waiter suggested we order the Mezze for two (Euro 39.90). It was excellent - a colourful selection of cold starters including Hummus, Tabouleh, Falafel, Baba Ghanouj etc all beautifully presented, followed by our favourites, Fatayer Spinach, Kibbeh, Mixed Grill comprising the most succulent chicken we have tasted in Cyprus - along with many other traditional delights.
All served whilst watching the world go by on Larnaca beach front and with a slight aromatic fragrance of Nargile (shisha) in the air, this is a perfect place to dine. Apparently they have live belly dancing on Friday and Saturday nights as well.
My only small gripe is that the wine is overpriced - we had an average tasting Pinot Grigio which was Euro 25 - far too expensive! I don't understand why the No. 1 voted restaurant in Cyprus (luckily in our area) can sell a good Sauvignon Blanc for Euro 14 whilst establishments on Larnaca seafront and Mackenzie charge whatever they like!
Anyway I digress. Do try Al Sultan Lebanese - it is well worth a visit.and makes a welcome change from traditional Cypriot mezze.
