“A Muslim Monument”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

All Muslims and history buffs should visit this one. Its a testament to the bipolar history of the island and its reach heritage. Indeed a very well preserved church that provides a unique experience next to the salt lake.

“The mosque reflected in the lake”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 16, 2013

This mosque is really magic, being close to the salt lake of Larnaca where it reflects itself.
It is visible from the road that leads you to the wall, if you want to leave the car in one of the parking lots before the mosque, then you can also take a nice walk looking for some good landscapes to shot photos (the lake is frequented by flamingos in some periods of the year despite of the vicinity of the airport).
The mosque itself is a well preserved jewel, small but with a garden with palms where there are some tombs; the whole (lake + trees + mosque) forms in my opinion one of the most characteristic corners of Cyprus.

“A lovely combination of the mosque & the salt lake”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2013

It is a simple place with a lot of meaning. It is good to know the history about it to appreciate it. It is nice that a Christian country is taking very good care of a Muslim Mosque. The salt lake next to it adds up to the whole scenery.

“Worth a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

This is a holy place for Muslims, one of the most important in the world! Mohammed's aunt died there, after she fell from her horse. Tradition has it that the stone of her tomb is hanging from the air. Even if you are not Muslim or religious, you can have a great day out there, as it is located on a small island in the middle of a salt lake, populated by flamingos in the winter time, migrating to Cyprus due to mild weather. Also, surrounding this place is an interesting forest with nice pathways, where you can walk for pleasure. A very interesting and diverse place, you can spend half a day there, as you can enjoy the nature as well!

We were literally the only visitors, so we could enjoy the place to the full. Nice surroundings, friendly cats.
