“food to die for”
Reviewed July 19, 2014

Without any hesitation we can honestly say that owners Andreas and Stavroula serve the best traditional greek food on the Island of Cyprus.

We came across this restaurant following a search on Trip Advisor having been let down from our own previous experiences of so called "traditional" food. Being greek myself and having grown up with my Mother's excellent cuisine, i tend to be quite critical of certain standards among Greek restaurants, and was therefore delighted to have had this brilliant encounter with Cafe Aman.

We firstly encountered the amazing hospitality of Andreas, Stavroula and their daughter Irini one lunch time when the restaurant was actually closed (they open in the evening). They were themselves eating lunch by the door of their beautiful village house when we passed and causally enquired if they were open. They both immediately leapt from their own meal to insist that we join them. It was like being greeted by old friends and sent me back in time to my childhood and the kind of hospitality that sadly is rapidly diminishing.

We were made to feel special and at home amongst them. We had to return of course and we did twice more in the time that was available before leaving the island. Firstly to sample the Kleftico (Thursday Nights Only) which we cannot enthuse about strongly enough, absolutely the best i have ever tried! And on another occasion the best home spun traditional village greek Meze you will find anywhere.

We had three wonderful experiences with Andreas and Stavroulla not forgetting Andreas's wonderfully eclectic choice of music. We still have the sounds of Vicky Leandros singing "Somethings Got a Hold of my Heart" resonating in our ears. Well, they certainly captured our hearts and we cannot wait to go and visit them again.

“Cafe Aman - fantastic evening with friends”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

A wonderful selection of authentic Greek food which just kept on coming!! Pork dishes, lamb dishes, vegetables, salads, dips and sauces, all prepared by the lovely owner and his wife. Served with a smile and with a hearty welcome.
Truly recommend - in fact this is the second visit of our holiday!

“The best food in Cyprus, by far!”
Reviewed July 11, 2014 via mobile

You will not be disappointed at Cafe Aman. Big smiles and a big welcome as soon as you arrive at the family-run restaurant. Outdoor seating surrounded by flowers and hanging baskets in a picturesque village square. The food is exceptional. The family have an outdoor oven from which papa and mamma freshly prepare and serve a range of traditional Cypriot dishes. There is no menu, only what they have on that day. It starts with a fresh feta salad, tahini dressing, fresh bread and olives, and tzatziki. And it keeps coming thereafter. Griddled chicken, slow-cooked lamb, homemade sausages and kebabs, stuffed peppers, stuffed vine leaves, grilled halloumi, and more. The list is endless. All of it delicious. Vegetarians are catered for as well. The family are very proud of their establishment and it shows in their food. It is also exceptional value too. I cannot recommend Cafe Aman enough. If you are staying in the area, you have simply got to go.

“Mama is in the kitchen”
Reviewed June 22, 2014

This is a characterful eatery, run by a husband and wife duo. He serves, she cooks and it is a marriage made in heaven. The meze goes on and on, so bring a keen appetite. The local red wine is smooth and powerful and they buy all their foods from trusted sources. Really rather a jolly place to go.
