I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The room was very nicely furnished, clean, quiet and with a nice bathroom. The staff was very polite. I had breakfast and it was impressive: the largest selection I ever found, for all tastes, with excellent quality. Highly recommended

Have stayed here several times and it seems to get better each time. Had our small grand daughter this time, all the staff were fantastic with her and were really over the top, superb service, quality food and accommodation and in an excellent location by the sea.

Stayed in Rocks for one night on a business trip. Overall experience was OK. Room was spacious and comfortable, despite of the design being very outdated. However, certain points are lacking: There is no tea/coffee kit or a kettle in the room; the towel rack within the bathtub is installed so high that even I could hardly reach it with my 1.80m; the free WiFi in the room (which in itself is a welcome feature) stopped working in the late evening and could not be fixed before the IT person came in late in the morning, after my departure; Similarly, the gym opens only at 8 AM, making it almost useless for business travelers who like a morning workout. Not to mention I had been misled by some staff members the night before to believe it would open at 7:00, which ended in a disappointed trip to my room in my sport outfit.
Also, the reception desk is in a separate building than the rooms, or at least many of them, which - in the cold weather that persisted - made for a few freezing crossings, fighting gusts of icy wind from the sea just across the road.
Breakfast was good in overall, with a large selection of foods, although service was not very attentive. In conclusion, this is a reasonable hotel for spending a night or two, but do not expect impeccable services and attention to detail.

We spent a week at this very nice hotel in November. We found the staff to be polite and willing to help whenever asked. Several spoke little English but soon found someone who could help. The public areas are smart and our room was perfectly adequate and comfortable, though probably ready for a spot of 'smartening up'. We had a problem in the bathroom with a small leak under the bath which was promptly dealt with.
We only ate in the buffet restaurant and thought it was very good both with the choices on offer and the quality of the food. Some of the dishes were obviously turkish and not particularly appealing to us, but there were plenty of other options. However the breakfasts were very varied with the usual cereals, cold meats and cheese, lots of salads(!), smoked salmon, egg dishes, cooked food, fruits lovely jams and honey and some very nice bread. As well as other fruit juices there was freshly squeezed orange juice which was delicious. All in all the breakfast was very enjoyable.
I am surprised to see a recent report saying that the food in Kyrenia in general was not good. Maybe some people don't eat at the right places.

Overall this was an excellent choice of hotel.

I've stayed in a few hotels in Kyrenia ... if by some bizarre chance you end up heading to this charming (but underdeveloped part of the world), then simply put this is the best hotel in the area, in regards to the actual hotel itself, the location, and the facilities.

Swimming pool area on the waterfront is brilliant. Pictures don't do it justice. The room itself is lovely. I was worried about those big box tv's i've seen on the pictures, but they were flat screens, and had most international channels.

The food in most of Kyrenia is awful, and it was no different at the hotel. Mostly everything was bland.

The worst part of the hotel though is the service. It's just a small hotel in Kyrenia, but has pretentions it is some 5 star hotel in Monte Carlo. I couldn't enter any restaurant because i was wearing some wrong type of foot wear. The casino wouldn't allow me in because my attire wasn't smart. So basically on the first day i was banned from eating here, and entering the casino!

I like to go on holidays to relax, and wind down from my job, dress down, and lounge ... but here there were far too many obstacles. Even the buffet restaurant were aghast we would dare walk into the area with sandals! I mean a buffet !

The actual people around the restaurants were pretty rude too, in a way i suppose English isn't their first language so there is always that tension there from them. But no smiles, no good mornings, etc a far cry from the manner and etiquette you get from 5 star hotels in other places around the world.

All in all though, this really is the best hotel out there!

Dear Guest,

As you would appriciate, many Hotels and most Casinos worldwide have various rules and regulations with regard to entrance or restaurant dresscodes.
These are set by the management to keep up the Hotel or Casino standards. This is also the case for our Hotel in Kyrenia.

Relevant information about the dresscodes are published on our website in order to inform our guests before their arrival such as, ‘’dress code for evening dining is SMART CASUAL’’ or ‘’ a shorts, vests, swimwear and beach shoes are not permitted in the dining rooms.’’
As you would appriciate sandals may not be the exact suitable shoewear for this kind of restaurants.

We have various international cousines on offer in our restaurants with a variety of quality food. We also show special attention to our Hotel staff so that they are all trained to perform high quality service.

We are sorry to hear about your complaint with regard to the dresscodes and wish that you had the neccessary information from our Hotel website during your booking or prior to your arrival.

Kind regards,

Rocks Hotel & Casino Management

We had a week here, and enjoyed the convenient location, within walking distance of the harbour, castle and shops.

The design of the public areas is stunning - one of the nicest we have stayed in around the world. The staff were very friendly and tried to be helpful, but this was sometimes precluded by their lack of English, both at reception, but especially in the buffet. There was also a lack of appreciation of customer needs there, so if you went in for the dinner buffet, no-one thought to ask you if you would like to see the wine list when they were serving you water, and it was difficult to get their attention - no eye contact. Also in the morning, they seemed unable much of the time, to understand "tea with milk, please" as the latter rarely came without another prompt. Small things but simple to cure and annoying for guests.

We had checked in late Sunday evening and dashed down for the excellent buffet before unpacking. When we got back to the room, however, we could hardly breathe because of the fumes of cigars/Turkish cigarettes. We assumed this had come in through the air conditioning from another bedroom. Give the hotel their due, within minutes an electric air filtering machine had been brought up, and an fresh air spray, and this with the opening of the windows helped clear the air a bit. And in the morning we were moved to another room without delay. However, we dare not switch on the air conditioning for the rest of our stay - OK in November, but what about when it is 100 degrees in summer?

This quick response was also shown when my wife dropped a glass in the bathroom. Within minutes a maid was up with a hoover to ensure all the glass was cleared - excellent work!

If you brave the casino, you will find the smoke problem even worse : we are by no means "anti" and both smoked ourselves for years, but the atmosphere in the casino with virtually all the people in there smoking heavily, and there are lots of them from Turkey on package tours, prompted my wife to call it a day after only 15 minutes, and even I felt it too much. A stronger air conditionaing and filtering system must be called for.

We both tried some back massage and each had a pedicure in the huge fitness area in the basement - I had never seen so many ftness machines, plus Turkish bath, sauna etc. All excellent.

Our bedroom was spacious and well fitted, with a lovely view over the busy road to the hotel's huge pool and sunbathing area off the rocks, although I agree that the bathroom is a little "tired" but perfectly adequate.

The "business centre" consist of a cubicle with two computers, but internet is free, so that was OK, once you had cleared the children playing computer games off them. And, unusually, there was a printer there, also free.

To sum up, a lovely hotel, a few minor problems, but if we ever came back to the same place again (we never do), this would be one of them.

Room Tip: Although the one way single road outside is busy, sea view rooms do just that, although the balcony...
