On arrival in the dark we were impressed by the luxiriuos entrance of this hotel in the small resort town of Kyrenia. The room we were taken to was also pleasant but the view of a petrol station wasn't quite so impressive. The very helpful lady receptionist [ whose good grasp of English was alas a rarety amongst reception staff] immediatly offered us the only alternative view - a newly built multi story car park - we decided to stay put! The morning revealed a lovey view of the mountials - if you angled your chairs on the good sized balcony!
Breakfast is a wonderful experience with great choice and lovely surroundings. The waiters efficient but distant and why dod we have to stumble on a menue with cooked options on the 3rd day of our time there.
This practice of 'tell them nothing' irritated our stay throughout - no menues displayed, no enetrtainiment details, no visible concierge to support exploration of the area, no proper hotel guide in the bed room... There were 2 very noisy events on the roof terrace, the 2nd going on til 2am on the night before we left - we were told about it on our way to the airport with the info that hardly anyone had been there - I wonder why?!
Roof top pool was lovely - but £2.80+ for an orange and lemonade?! and why are people alllowed to place their belongings on beds and go elsewhere for part of the day?
The room was comfortable but a musty smell from the bathroom and a rattly aircondition setting was never rectified despite being reported. The walls are thin and a pary of 3 teenage girls next door was a mixed blessing! take your kettle - room service is very expensive. There are a couple of small general stores opposite that will sell you sandwiches, wine and beer etc.
As mentioned before the staff on reception are not sufficiently fluent in English for an are that relies on Brits. Several minor issues eg arranging for a film in the room [finally after 2 days foound the hotel's DVD was broken!] took far too long to resolve.
All the above points werre echoed by other UK guests. The management need to take advice from a British adviser re how to make UK guests feel at home rather than 'room renters'.
