“Good value for money”
Reviewed April 13, 2011

Stayed at The Ship for one week on a breakfast & lunch basis. Very impressed with the service of the staff particularly Zubi who is excellent to banter with and is very good for directions and reccomendations on places to to see. Excellent quality and choice of food. Good buffet breakfast with continental, cereal, fruit & option of cooked breakfast with fried/poached/omelettes if desired although a full English breakfast is extra charge. 3 choices on the lunch menu at the pool bar. 3 course set menu is excellent value for money at 22 TL and there is a full ala carte menu. A great choice is The Full kebab, good value for money.
The Ship is set about a half hour walk from the harbour but you can get the local minibuses which charge 2TL per person(about 80p).
All in all a great place to stay

We stayed for 10 nights on 9th October 2010. We had a moutain view which is just beautiful. It is very noisy at night because of the dogs howling but if you keep the doors closed and use the air con, it's not a problem.
The staff are all very polite and friendly, and speak enough English to enjoy a little banter with.
Friday night is dance night which is really good fun, and some of the waiters have their wives come to the hotel and join in.
The food in the restaurant is fantastic and they have recently added an outside dining area for the warm evenings.
Breakfast has a wide variety of choices every day.
The rooms are a good size and have a balcony to sit out on enjoying the beautiful views.
There are 2 swimming pools one inside with a gym, sauna etc.
One outside enjoying plenty of sunshine, and mattresses are provided for the sun beds.
Kyrenia harbour is a good walk about 20 minutes, or there are regular buses from outside the hotel which are very cheap and easy to use. Very pretty at night. Here you can book boat trips.
There is a good variety of shops close by including a supermarket.
Car hire is cheaper through the hotel not the travel agent.
There is a poolside bar and snack bar.

clean rooms and a nice shower or bath. breakfast was good and in the price of £35.00 which was a buffet breakfast. Friendly staff. Close to Kyrenia. Costs £5.00 in a taxi. Some restaurants close by but the hotel also did dinners in the evening. The best was location and the only thing that was disappointing was that they did not replenish the tea in the rooms everyday. Also there was no coffee at all in the rooms.

This was our 7th visit to the Ship Inn over Christmas and New Year. This year we flew into Larnaca and found this to be quite satisfactory. We stayed (five of us) in the 2 bedroomed self catering villa and it was perfect for us. Clean linen and towels provided regularly and maid service every day. We took breakfast in the hotel as and when we fancied and it was more than adequate and something to suit everyone. They have a new restaurant now within the hotel called the Grand Sofra and I have to say it was very good. Most of the food cooked on a barbecue in front of you and very tasty. We tried the half board menu several times and it was good value for money. All the staff at the Ship are so obliging and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. My youngest son is a fussy eater but they provided something for him that was not on the menu without any bother atall. The weather this year was lovely and sunny and my mum and I spent a fair time sat on sun loungers around the pool just relaxing. When the weather was cooler in the late afternoon just pop into the bar and they will light a log fire for you to enjoy while you read your books and just relax. The Christmas and New Year's Eve meals were fine and we enjoyed both of the evenings. No hesitation in returning to the Ship again and we would not consider staying anywhere else. It caters for all our needs and we like the fact that you only have to cross the road outside to catch the local dolmus to take you into town. Look forward to our next trip to the Ship.

As a frequent visitor to the Ship, we often tell people what value for money it is. The staff are really good and the hotel is lucky to have them! So we booked for a 3 night stay for New Year and paid extra for the half board option.

I have to say the entertainment was a huge let-down! A disinterested bellydancer and a guy who couldn't sing a note and who left before the new year fireworks had finished exploding, or so we were told, as we left early and returned to our room!!!!

Cater for your audience. Rule 1. The new local rule of 'discouraging' non TC entertainers really backfired. That probably means no more english entertainers who know how to play music ... dance and disco music. Sure, play local music too as there were a large number of locals there. I don't like Elvis Parsley, but I like his music even less when its destroyed by a warbler!

Ship management. Please learn a lesson. Next year some proper entertainment please!!! We will not be going again if we are not sure that decent entertainment is 'on the menu'.

There were lots of rumblings of discontent but most people we spoke to just decided to try and make something of it. Good luck to them.

As for the rest of the stay, as usual, up to the ships normal standards. Great staff. Thanks Zube and the crew!

Having read the reviews before we booked we were expecting to enjoy our stay.We stayed over the Xmas period for 5 nights and booked and paid 3 month's in advance,The terms were Half board {Breakfast and Evening Meal } The Evening Meal would be from a set menu. Christmas Eve we were told that we could only have the Christmas Dinner if we paid extra!!! Even though no set menu was available. We decided that we would have to pay the extra as it was too late to find an alternative venue. Made us very cross!!! Christmas Dinner was very poor!! We left a day early and will not be returning to The Ship.We have stayed in some of the Best and worst Hotels in the World !!! Would not recommend this establishment to our friends!
