What an amazing place. Peaceful, stunning, imposing, atmospheric, romantic, words just cannot really describe this wonderful place. A perfect setting for a wedding or a meal with friends and family. Definitely worth a visit.

“Absolutely loved it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 15, 2013

I love old places of worship so Bellapais Monastery was perfect! Much of the Monastery has been destroyed, but what remains is just gorgeous! The chapel is well preserved with beautiful art works on display. The refectory is also complete and appears to still be in use. Views from the second level are great. The gardens are well maintained and complete the attraction. I would highly recommend a visit. Admission was $10TLY for adults and $2TYL for students and $3TYL for parking. Afterwards, we wandered through the village.

“Monastery”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2013

We walked to Bellapais Monastery. The walk is flat to start with but climbs very steeply towards the top. We went through villages to get there but then walked back down the main road which the taxis use. The views are brilliant once you reach the top of the hill.

“Interesting”

Bellapais is a 10 min car ride from Kyrenia. It is in good condition and worth a visit. Car parking is easy and there are several restaurants and gift shops outside.

“Very beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2013

We visited Bellapais on Saturday. It is situated on Pentadaktylos and the route is easy but you have to be careful with the signs, since there are not many of them. As you are entering the village, there is a bus parking on the left and afterwards a parking on the right. This is the place to park your car. If you continue for about 300m you will find it, you can't miss it. The abbey returns you to the middle ages. The architecture is amazing. I think that the only thing that created bad impression to us were the kitchy caffees and restaurants situated within the monument. The entrance fee was 4 euros per person, but it was cheaper if you pay in TL. Be ready to take a lot of photos.
