So tranquil and beautiful. You can’t miss it if you come to kyrenia. Up in bellapais, a gorgeous little village in the hills. Well worth a visit

We went for dinner one evening at the abbey. There was an arrangement with our hotel that a taxi was provided both ways.wehad a lovely evening with great food that was very reasonably priced. We went one evening in mid October so it was dark when we got there. The garden was really beautiful and well lit and we could see the lights of Kyrenia harbour below us. Having the taxi laid on was brilliant and we look forward to doing it all aginsome day.

We had a day trip here to see the abbey ...this is a very beautiful part of North Cyprus. We had lunch in the Restuarant adjacent the abbey which served up wonderful dishes and delicious wine the staff were very attentive ... we wandered down the narrow streets and I bought olive oil soap which is so soft and good for your skin plus some saffron which is sooooo much cheaper than back home the lady in the little shop was so friendly and she showed me a beautiful tapestry that had been passed down through her family the people here are so friendly.

This is well worth a visit if you have half a day to spare (There is an entrance fee of 10 YTL), the views alone make it worthwhile, then add to that the Gothic architecture of the monastery (mostly ruins but still evocative), the stroll through the gardens and the little village and then a stop for a pleasant lunch, make for a nice outing.

We took a taxi there from our hotel, and then patiently waited by the taxi rank, but after 20-minutes or so no sign of a taxi. We then decided to have lunch in a pleasant restaurant opposite the taxi rank and asked the proprietor if he would call us a taxi, which he very nicely did.

The village is a bit cut-off, there are plenty of coaches for excursion visitors arriving and leaving via the larger car park, but not much other traffic. Would advise if you are visiting by taxi to pre-book your return or use the restaurant.

Recently washed by rain the cloister gardens had a pleasing freshness. Flocks of birds had gathered in the 4 great Cyprus trees here & their constant joyful chirping en mass was a delight to the ear carrying throughout the Abbey & even the restaurant next door.
Take a torch to better illuminate the inside of the church & the underground passage.
This Gothic abbey hosts classical concerts. The evening of the day we went, the refectory was set up with rows of chairs & a stage to be used for an event of Shakespeare & music. Does not take long to see everything. Perhaps combine a visit here with lunch at the delightful restaurant next door.

Bella paisley is a lovely little village to visit. High up on the side of the besparmak mountains. You can walk there from Kyrenia. A long walk on a not too hot day. The view is wonderful. Good car park. A few walks you can do from there. Some nice shops and restaurants. Well worth a visit. If you book a table for the evening from your hotel the ride there and back is for free if you go on holiday with Cyprus paradise.
