“Museum”

Very interesting little place in the castle, you don't have to pay more to go in. Has the world's oldest dredged up boat, or at least what's left of it, which is just the bottom of the hull and some of the cargo. But they have made quite an effort to show it off, and is well worth seeing.

“A great insight into Kyrenia”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

This attraction is situated in the castle on the side of Kyrenia harbour and is a fascinating insight into the past history of Kyrenia and Northern Cyprus.
The whole experience will realistically take a couple of hours but is ell worth the time and effort especially the preserved ship and artifacts that were excavated from it.
There is a cafe within so you can refresh yourself in the heat if need be.
The views from the top of the castle are stunning BUT ....... please read below......

The one thing I will say is that should you visit with young children ot elderly relatives please be mindful that guard rails are NOT used on the upper ramparts and there are large gaps between the ruins ! When you do climb to the top again there are NO guard rails on the steps so please be warned if you have children with you !!!!!!

All in all an excellent way to spend a couple of hours and very interesting - well worth a visit !
There is an entrance fee but it is not astronomical I think it was arounf £3-4 for an adult.

“For the historically minded - a must see”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

The oldest known recovered sunken ship - together with some of it's cargo, well worth a visit and there are plenty of other things to see as well

“Give yourself time”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

The whole castle site needs a couple of hours to take it in - so don't rush. Beautiful views to be had of the harbour and the story of the shipwreck is fascinating. As ever climbing up and down the walls is hard on old knees - but you've got to do it.

“Kyrenia castle”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

Inside the mediaeval fortress of Kyrenia castle is the well preserved remains of an ancient ship, complete with some of the cargo she was carrying when she went down. Well worth a vist, I think we have been three times now over five years and it never ceases to impress us.
