“Nice Hotel but.......”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2014

We have been staying at this hotel for the past three weeks. The hotel has a five star rating which is deserved for the amenities on offer but the hotel is very isolated and a car is essential as there is nothing outside the hotel to go to other than Roman ruins worth a visit but they are about three kilometers away.. There are a couple of excursions on offer but they are quite expensive. Our car was booked over the internet from England and I can thoroughly recommend PACIFIC CAR RENTAL. The car was delivered to us at the hotel on time and at a very cheap rate.

The staff at the hotel are very friendly and the food is plentiful with a good variety of dishes however it was never very hot which was disappointing.

Now the bad points, for the first two weeks we were plagued with young children running riot around the hotel and restaurant shouting screening and running around late into the evening. Not so bad during the day but to sit in the bar area and have a quiet drink in the evening became impossible. The hotel management seemed unable or unwilling to put a stop to it despite many complaints. The moral of this is to check when the Turkish children have there school holidays before booking.

We had room 1742 overlooking the pool with a good view of The Mediterranean Sea a nice room but the plumbing was atrocious. There was no water to flush the toilet during the night and early morning or to have a shower but by mid morning the water was flowing again. ( the hand basin was not affected and water was flowing normal MOST nights) We reported this several times to reception but nothing was done. We resorted to filling the waste bucket with water from the hand basin to flush the toilet not what you expect from a five star hotel.

All in all we enjoyed our stay but will not be going back I suppose that if you only pay a three star price for a five star hotel then something's you have to put up with but Our next holiday will be to an adult only hotel.

I give this hotel three stars it would be five if they address the points made here.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the pool area have the best view but no sun.

Stayed here with 3 other couples for Valentines night, the room was lovely and clean, bathroom was immaculate the view from the 7th floor was amazing. We were all inclusive so had plenty to eat and drink all day and night which suited our crowd very well, very good choice of food, loads of different things to choose from, pity there was not entertainment on that night but it didnt spoil our enjoyment of the hotel.

We walked around the grounds and we used to spa facilities too, the indoor pool was heated to a really nice temperature, turkish bath/steam rooom was just what i needed and it was very handy having a door exiting on the beach 20 ft away to run in and cool down even though there was a thunder and lightning storm going on outside and was pouring with rain, well it had to be done, everyone was doing it.

The next morning, the sun was shining again, and we were able to sit out side on the patio area for breakfast and enjoy the last of the free cocktails before checking out, was a good end to our little break and the atmoshere on the patio was good between all the guests, everyone talking with each other, saying goodbye and wishing them well.

Would definately go back sometime very soon..

We (6 adults) stayed at the Salamis last weekend and had a great time. I booked 3 rooms which unfortunately were on the 1st floor so not much of a view and were quite noisy at times due to improvements being made to the hotel.

ROOMS - The rooms were nice and clean but the bathrooms were dated and not very clean, even if the rooms are old it doesn't take long to clean the taps and the bath. That said, the beds were very comfortable and when my sister asked for more cushions they were delivered by housekeeping in no time. All the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful.

RESTAURANT - The food in the restaurant was good and plentiful considering the time of year and that our visit was out of season. The waiters were quick at clearing the tables and were very professional. The only thing that let the restaurant down was the temperature of the food. The food was only warm and certain items were too old to eat.
BAR & LOBBY – The bar and lobby were nice and tidy but the tables and glasses could have been cleaner. We only had waiter service on the Saturday night and the young lady was extremely polite and provided service with a smile.

POOL - The indoor pool was nice and clean but too cold for my Mum (in her 70s), the Turkish bath and sauna were fantastic and both have a very nice view of the sea which just made the time more relaxing. My sister took the opportunity for a 1 hour massage and has not stopped talking about it. My sister is disabled after having numerous back operations and suffers from severe migraines so she is not a stranger to massages, but she swears that this was the best massage ever and she was just glowing for days (I cannot thank the masseuse enough for that!)

Overall my husband and I have stayed in numerous 5 star hotels in Northern Cyprus as we live in Cyprus and enjoy short breaks away from home, so this is not the first 5 star hotel that we would rate more a 3-4 star hotel (considering the above) however, that said the weekend was a fantastic family get together and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

My husband and I hope to visit again in March or April to see if the above issues were seasonal.

Firstly I would like to say before we came to the hotel we read a few comments on tripadvisor, some of the comments were really bad and we was not sure if we wanted to come.we thought we make a risk, but we came we were shocked, the hotel in general beautiful. we arrived ealy,Guest relation greeted us. We read on tripadvisor about how people did not like the rooms and restaurant, food, waiters, drinks etc.. but everything was the opposite. We really liked room it was very clean and spacious, with a great view. The restaurant was big and you had a choice of where to sit.The food was excellent with a very big open buffet,so much to choose from. People were complaining that the food was cold, what is wrong with these people. What ever we ate was hot and very tasty,we would like to thank the head chef and his staff.drinks are good quality allchol and non allchol drinks all the staff are polite and hardworking and helpful. We used the spa center which made us very happy, the pool was clean and turkish bath.A big thank you to staff in that department.
we would like to say a big thank you everyone in salamis bay hotel, we are definetly coming back, and we will recommended to all our friends and family

Room Tip: Choose to rooms 6 floors or upper

The hotel is located in Magosa, the southern side of Northern Cyprus. The hotel has friendly staff, delicious food in all inclusive concept. All rooms have sea view. It has a casino but the complimentary food must be improved. You have very limited things to eat at the casino. The beach is fine, the sea is beautiful. Best time to visit is from april to june and september to november. It is very hot in july and august can be rush for children and the old people.

Food was good. It was well prepared and there were a lot of options. Indoor pool was good, Turkish bath was small, but ok.
The only downside was the staff. Someone of them never smiled at all for the 3 days we stayed at the hotel.

Thankyou so much for writing back to us, your feed back is so important to us.
We are happy to hear that you had a great time.
Unfortanatly you say the personel in restorant wernt smiling, because they are serious with the job that they are doing, this is why they look serious. But for them to be more profesional at there job we are now given them customer relation courses 3 times a week.
We hope to see you again in the future.
