A trip here takes you back in time and makes you think what it would be like to live in those times.Spent a couple of hours wandering around this site, it was really interesting just to walk around the site without some guide telling you about things which are quite obvious.
So you pay your couple of quid are given a pamphlet and away to go, no rush keeping up with the crowd, just in your own time.
In summary, well worth a visit and not taxing on the pocket.

I think maybe you need to be a little bit of a history fan for this - but the preservation of the Roman bath complex is just amazing.
Go really early - this place is Hot - and very little shade, but well woth the effort.

Salamis is a great place to visit while in Cyprus. I took the family here and even the kids found the ancient ruins good fun.
There are plenty of things for the kids to climb on and some good information around the site to help with identifying different ruins.
A must to visit.

Many years ago I was given a postage stamp with a picture of the ruins of Salamis on it. I always wanted to go there and last year achieved my dream fifty years on. This is a sprawling Greco/Roman site that needs a good two hours to visit. The site is just outside Famagusta in Northern Cyprus. At the time of our visit we were staying in a Paphos in the Greek south of Cyprus. The car hire insurance is not valid in a Northern Cyprus but as you enter the Turkish zone you have to buy their insurance where they accept euros. The site also accepts euros for the entrance fee but if you wan to eat locally you need Turkish liars. All very simple.
