Having our 1st holiday without the children we were looking for peace and relaxation, this is the place to be. Was met at the airport by a taxi driver, the driver was lovely but the vehicle in England would not have been legal. Visually the hotel look stunning even at night. The reception staff were very welcoming and informative, our bags were taken to our room to give us time to have food before the restaurant closed.
The room was nice with a great bathroom, we had amazing see view (not enough hangers in wardrobe).Welcome information was given to us from the taxi man, but the time to meet rep the next day was put into the flight time so we never met, we spoke to him by phone to order a car he did apologise for the mix up, but never saw him for the duration of the holiday, anything we needed to know we asked either reception or waiters
Food at all restaurant was of good standard and we enjoyed it all.
Staff serving either at breakfast/bar/evening meal were always attentive and100% good service.
What we couldn't understand there were so many men in Black suits who seemed to be everywhere, we actually named them a (The Suits), they made you slightly uncomfortable ,I understand they need to keep a standard, but I felt that there were too many eyes, this felt intimidating for us and the staff looked extremely uncomfortable, also at times they could have help with the customers ,and maybe acknowledged the customers.
Drinks quite expensive at hotel, outside much cheaper.
Coffee and tea in room would be nice.
The old town is a good place to visit easy walking distance. A car is essential if you want to visit the amazing beaches.
Would visit again
Fantastic staff

Room Tip: The right side of the hotel opposite the beach are quite

Having stayed here with my parents for seven nights our stay to start off with was very nice. The food was lovely and the staff at dinner were excellent, the hotel is situated on the beach front and has good mod cons, rooms are of a good size and clean. Location is perfect if you are looking for some down time but with this comes the fact that there isn't much to do in the immidiate area ( if your looking for night life this isn't for you ). HOWEVER: on our fith night having already eaten dinner here four evenings already my farther was stopped buy the manager and told that all of a sudden that over night the higher management had decided to ban shorts and sandals at dinner! We were gob smacked!? When we asked how at a beach resort within less then 24hrs the rules could change he couldn't give us a straight answer!! We were told that "some "people don't fit in to there liking but my farther could eat there for one more evening and then have to seek a different atire for the following evening! The waiting staff could see we were very upset with this confrontation and were very lovely and even brought and made the manager apologise to my parents, just for the record they were in total argreent with us that this "over night rule" was a joke! My farther asked to speak to the higer manger of whom decided to impose this rule and had to wait three days as he was not around to see us!!! Once we had the chance to speak to him he was an utter joke, couldn't really give us a direct reason to why hey had changed the dress code and didn't even apologise to us either! Overall this place has positives but some majour managerial issues with a lack for customer service! Why don't they promote the waiting staff!

We had heard a lot of good things about this hotel before we went so were very excited about staying here. Overall it was good. Very clean. The food options weren't amazing and the drinks were not included with your meal. Drinks were expensive to buy which is not good when in such a hot place. Not much to do there apart from either lay by the beach or pool. Didn't seem to be many staff around either.

Booked a 2 week holiday with Green Island. Having seen the review in May that there were building works in close proximity to the pool I telephoned GI to explore this issue. I was informed there were NO building works. This was extremely important to me/us as our working life involves building contractors and therefore noise. There were INDEED building works near the pool and will be for the foreseeable future. During our 2 week stay we endured a beach bar being built the lovely platform offshore being finished and the new function facility (quite large) being constructed.

The hotel also hires the pool area and the beach bar for weddings/private parties and therefore you are requested to leave the area by 4 p.m. The same band play the same music at every event which is loud and can be quite boring.

The hotel itself is a 4 star, the rooms and public areas are spotlessly clean and faultless. The restaurant for both breakfast and dinner were excellent with a good variety. Staff are always willing to help, even if they do ask your room number on numerous occasions (which all adds to the fun).

Our bedroom was sea facing with an open plan bathroom, we loved it !!!!!!!!

No tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms, which was a disappointment, we can only
assume hotel wish to increase revenue as much as possible. It is worth noting that bottled water being brought into the hotel (you can't drink the tap water) is frowned upon.

There is a strong management team presence, who appear regularly and 'tour' the hotel. I personally had the feeling that there were far too many managers, In the main, in my experience the Managers did not interact with their clientele. I am aware that a senior manager will read this review and will apologise for any negatives, but possible my feedback would be - Please talk to your customers when they are there and you are touring the hotel. Customer Liaison Manager was good, but he needs more back up from the departmental managers.

The beach is magnificent and this is mainly due to the great guy who works very hard (although he is part of a bigger team) who, at the end of the day turns all sun beds, removes the mattresses and 'rakes' yes 'rakes' the sand. The beach staff were very attentive.

There was little entertainment and no other venue outside of the hotel, so it is paramount that the hotel arrange evening entertainment.

Spa, Gym and Indoor pool. All good but as the Spa wasn't promoted, in my view, very quiet. So much more could be done to promote the Spa.

In summary, and I know this review is long, the question would be, would I return. Yes of course. We needed to relax and rest and this we managed to do, but as I said we had to pick beach or pool dependent on hotel bookings and building noise. The hotel is so clean and well laid out that we will def return and probably quite soon. We met some great people (holidaymakers and staff)

We only saw the GI representative on day one and a second gentleman on the day before we left. Although they informed us they had visited there was no way of knowing when they would be there and we weren't prepared to sit in reception daily to try and catch one of them. A representative from Direct Traveller was there regularly AND walked the hotel to find their clientele.

Transfers both ways was very good.

Room Tip: Recommend you book a Junior suite or a Grand Palm suite. The standard rooms are extremely small. Ba...

Dear Guest,

Firstly, thank you for choosing to stay at Arkin Palm Beach hotel and for your kind words regarding our beach, cleanliness and service.

We are sorry that you had some bad experiences with certain parts of your stay with us. We pride ourselves on our quality of service and are always disappointed when a guest leaves unhappy.

As with most 5 star hotels we do hold private events and functions, we always inform our guest’s the day prior to any event if it is necessary to close the pool area early. As mentioned in a previous post, on any of these days we have reviewed the closure time from 16:00 to 17:00, we do have a lovely beach area which can also be used.

Unfortunately, we did have some work being carried out this year and we duly informed all of our travel partners of this. We always try to keep the noise to a minimum for our guest’s whilst maintaining our facilities to ensure our guest’s enjoy their experience with us.

We hope that the points you have mentioned will not deter you from staying with us in the future and we are confident that these unfortunate experiences were a one off. As I mentioned, we always strive to ensure that our guest’s expectations are met.

The hotel is a good standard and we had a junior suite overlooking the beach. the staff were generally attentive and the beach and pool had plenty of sunbeds which were well maintained. it is situated next to the ghost town which is a bit spooky especially at night.

There was problems with this hotel.

There were 6 wedding parties held at the Hotel during of our stay. These weddings were all set up round the pool and you were not allowed to use the pool after 4:00 when the staff would kick you off your sun bed. These weddings would go on till gone 1am and you would be kept awake due to very very loud music... Even with doors closed you could hear the music.

The service of the hotel staff dropped off when these wedding were on as most of the staff were diverted to serve at the weddings. The bar staff didn’t even know how to make cocktails.

On Sunday afternoon at 4:00, they decided that they would start to play clubbing music on the beach. This music was so load it made conversation difficult. Many of the guests complained and eventually the music volume was turned down however not until a manager laughed when my wife complained.

It also came to light that the hotel would allow people from outside the hotel use the beach which they charged we think about 10 TL. We didn’t know who the people were and they were quite often noisy and intimidating. We also felt that security was compromised by allowing these people to come onto the beach.

A real negative of the hotel was it allowed smoking everywhere. We had to be move tables one evening in the restaurant when the smoking became intolerable.

The food in the restaurant was basically the same every night and they never had the chefs cooking fresh food.

this hotel would be wonderful but they need to sort out disturbance of the wedding parties.

Room Tip: a room with a sea view is a must. the other side of the hotel look at a car park.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts of your holiday with us at Arkin Palm Beach hotel.

As with most 5 star hotels around the world we do hold private events and functions. Unfortunately, for some of these events we require the pool to be closed in the afternoon, although we have reviewed the closing time to 17:00, in order to set-up the event. We do inform our guest’s the day prior to an event of the closing time.

We apologise for the noise created by the wedding and we will also be reviewing if we are able to do something in terms of volume. We do hold a Beach Party at the hotel on Sunday afternoons between 16:00 – 19:00 and again the volume of the music is something we are reviewing.

Like all beach front hotels here in Northern Cyprus, and due to local laws, we are not able to stop the public using our beach. As such we charge guest’s from outside the hotel to use our facilities a fee which is considerably higher than other public beaches in Northern Cyprus. Like in the UK, smoking is prohibited within closed areas of the hotel but all outdoor spaces not illegal.

The majority of guest’s and as you will see from other reviews on Trip Advisor we feel our cuisine is of a very high quality and that there is always plenty of choice. As an alternative to our buffet we do offer an A La Carte menu in our main restaurant, guests may choose to stay with us on a Bed & Breakfast basis and choose a meal of their choice from our A La Carte menu for dinner.

We hope the above points will not deter you from staying with us again in the future.

A good 4* standard with lots of spacious, elegant public areas, bar, restaurant, own beach, spa, indoor pool, outdoor pool. Kept meticulously clean and tidy. Outlook at the rear is very pretty, large sandy beach, rock pools, a pier with a bar at the end. At the front, there's nothing interesting. Most of the staff are fairly attentive most of the time. English is spoken by most of the staff. One impressive item is a constant supervisions by senior management who spend a lot of time making sure all is well.

Our room was excellent, decent size, everything working, air con, mini-bar, safe. The shower room was fine and clean, if small. Toilet has an Islamic water jet device that is, um, surprisingly accurate! Balcony with a couple of chairs. Blackout curtains are effective. Electrical points are British square pin. Internet is in every room, although it wasn't fast where we were on the top floor.

Standard of food served is extremely good. Evening meals are buffet style with a very generous range of foods available. The wine can be very, very expensive, but there are some cheaper options. Lunch time offer is waiter served, haut-cuisine, elegant, tasty, and not pricey considering the high standard.

Beach is very good, fine sand, shallow and kept beautifully clean. There are rock pools to explore. There are more than enough sun loungers and umbrellas to go round. No life-guards.

1st half June, the clientele were mostly elderly, English baby-boomers. In response, the hotel's background music contained a lot of Elvis Presley! Groan. However, younger people were coming in later in the month. The hotel run a lot of events (like weddings) and also a haphazard selection of entertainments for the guest. At times, the air was full of loud, beat music coming from the neighbours. Nothing after midnight though.

The area surrounding the hotel is grim, you're effectively in a Turkish, military zone, although things are dormant now and you only see the occasional soldier. The hotel is hemmed in on three sides by the sea, the abandoned town of Varosha, and barracks / military depots. The only way out is by a boring 30 minute walk to Old Famagusta. Nevertheless there are half dozen or so bars / cafés close to the hotel where you can find drink and meals.

Overall, this is a really excellent hotel with a fine beach, superb food and many well presented and maintained services. If that's all you want, combined with warm weather, and you don't mind English clientele and a bit of noise at times, this is a good choice.

Room Tip: 1) Pay extra for rooms overlooking beach, because the sun is hard on the other side during the after...
