“Lovely view of the coastline, beautiful sea caves”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

It's worth driving up the hill within Cape Greco national park because you get lovely views along the coast from the top. There's also an attractive sculpture of a flock of birds up there - very scenic. From there we took the short drive down the hilll again to the sea caves, which are beautiful.

I visited at the end of February, which I think is a perfect time to visit because the sun is shining, the water is crystal clear and there are no other tourists around. Perfect for taking photos without dozens of strangers in them!

Pay particular head to the warnings not to go too close to the edge when viewing the sea caves. When you walk further around the small bay you see that the edges you've been standing on are severley eroded underneath and aren't supported by a great deal!

The only sad thing about the sea caves is that some idiot has graffiti'd on them in the past - a real shame in an otherwise stunning natural landscape.

“Don't miss the sea caves! Impressive!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2013

You can reach the cave area by car (or on foot). When you enter the Cavo Greco Natural Reserve (there are sign posts for a right turn on the road from Ayia Napa to Protaras), you follow an asphalt road and approx 500m further down you see a tree standing on its own in a field on your right hand side. Take a right turn into the earth road that is close to that tree. There is a sign pointing to the sea caves. Follow the earth road and soon you will see the sea and other cars so you will know where to stop!! Although i am from cyprus i only discovered this spot 2 years ago - previously i would see pictures of it but didnt know where it was! It just takes your breath away!! The rocks in this area have originally been under water (thousands of years ago) and they came to the surface probably after earthquakes etc. The sea caves have been formed under water but you get the impression that they have been carved by a very skillful sculptor. The spot is called 'the palaces' by the locals as the cave formations, remind of ancient palaces! Natural beauty at its best!!
The climb up to the top of cape greco is also worth it. Not very difficult as not very steep and the views from there are lovely.
There are several other hiking trails within the park that are signposted and take in all the points of interest. There is also 4 kilometres of bicycle track.
The park has something different to offer, in each season. Hiking is better in the spring when its not too hot and the place is also full of wild flowers of various colours.
Cypriot Natural Beauty at its best. Definetely recommened if you are a nature lover like me!!!

“Not to be missed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2012

The area of Cape Gkreko is worth visiting Cyprus for on its own. No matter what the weather there are fabulous views in all directions from many vantage points. Some of the best views are when the wind blows the sea aginst the rugged coastline but equally, the local walks at whatever elevation you choose are always full of interest. Just a fabulous area that we visit time and time again.

“Magnificient views from a steep crag above sea”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2012

Huge lime stone formation, a protected natural reserve. Some 10+ km from Agia Napa to the east. Access by a car or motorcycle. Parking area suprisingly close to the peak (natural protection area!). No fees. You need to walk maybe 600-700 meters, but the sea wind and fabulous view of this landscape and the Mediterranean make the effort so easy. We were there in June 3 pm, it was 28C and it was not too hard. You can walk there even wearing just beach sandals but there are short (1-2 km) hiking paths, which surely require better shoes. On the peak one statue, some benches and a small hut (no walls but a roof). Try this: take a whole picnic set with you and have a lunch with a fabulous view.
