Owner description: Visible from far and wide yet so close you could almost touch it, the emblem of Liechtenstein towers over Vaduz on a rock terrace which can be reached along a romantic footpath. The castle was first built some 700 years ago. Since 1712 it has been in the possession of the Prince of Liechtenstein. Furthermore, since 1938 it has been the residence of the prince’s family, so it is not open to the public. The 12th century keep and the structures on the east side are the oldest parts of the castle.

There really isn't much to do in Vaduz, unless you like to shop. We of course were in Liechtenstein just to, you know, go to Liechtenstein because we could. We did the walk up to the castle; it was nice to stretch our legs and there are signs along the way giving some history. However, as others have said, you can't go in the castle or on the grounds. And...the view of the castle from up there isn't very good! You get much nicer pictures from down in town.

It's a nice castle, on the side of the mountain above. Vaduz. It is the home of the reining Prince, so you are not allowed inside. We drove up the hill, but there is a walking path too if you are so inclined.

There are some grounds around it which look pretty, but also gated off from the public.

Worth the trip up the hill, but a short stay once you get here.

It is difficult for an Indian to pronounce Liechtenstein. But we were lucky to be there for small time.
We were surprise that local persons knew that we are from India and he was proudly saying Ganpatibapa Morya. This was a big surprise for all Indian and felt good and proud that India is also recognized in corner of world.
The climate is good, All mountains and greenery around.
But has good shopping centers. This is only place in Europe we show Hawkers / Street Shops selling local food and souvenirs.
One can visit in short time.
They put country stamp bu paying few Euros.
We could not visit the castle as time was short. But loved to be.....

Viewed from afar and from the town below the castle is very lovely but finding a way to drive up to then do the walk to view it up close wasn't possible. One road was closed off with roadworks and we couldn't find another way. Better signs and diversion guidance would have helped. In the end we parked in the big Rheinstadion car/bus park and walked into the centre (about1k each way). Still worth the visit.

The castle, while humble in size by European standards, sits beautifully perched on a high rock overlooking Vaduz. The hike along a little trail through the woods is relaxing and enjoyable. The castle is closed to visitors, however.
